5:38 my favorite part right here, seeing all of that diesel fuel in those huge tanks. Makes me reminisce on when my granddad and I would go on the road together in his 18 wheeler
I'm from the UK. A petrol station near me usually has a HGV, recently I saw the price for the fuel someone had put in had totaled to £147, in USD at current rates that $195. Difference is, they only put in about 50 Gallons Imperial (60 US Gallons). UK Fuel is extremely expensive. Current petrol rates here are £5.30 per Imperial gallon (near $7 per ImpGal). Just be glad you don't drive HGVs in the UK. Great channel for UK Trucking is: "Luke C in his HGV" Longer videos but extremely good if you want to invest some time into
The only numbers I have to enter when fueling is my tractor number and the carrier assigned trip number and that is it. But we only fuel up at Loves, Pilot and Flying J. Sometimes we do Petro or TA for areas that don't have those 3. Ive only filled up at Loves since I finished my defensive driver training.
I like looking at the diesel pumps when I am filling up my car. In 2008 when diesel was nearly $5/gallon here I took a picture of the truck pump that clicked off at $980, just over 200 gallons. You should film more fills- diesel is over $4/gal in most of the country.
I went on an RV trip in 2009 and it took about 75 gallons and every time we filled it it cost us over 100 dollars! Also, why didn't you upload this video right after you recorded it in 2009? Why did it take you more than 3 years to put it here?
I used to drive past that station every time I had to perform work for AT&T in Albany, but then I learned from a co-worker an alternate route which will take me to the north side of Albany, close to where the AT&T offices are located and completely bypassed that area. Since the video was filmed, a strip mall with a Wal-Mart was built on the corner across from the Pilot. All the better reason to avoid that area, unless you are going towards Tallahassee.
Still a good thing to point out, for those with regular fuel. Didn't know the pertoleium version of Diesel isn't flammable under normal conditions. Learn something new every day. :)
Diesel in upstate NY the low i seen was 3.45 per gallon. Thats not bad especially up here but would like to see in the 2.80 range is acceptable. Diesel should be cheaper than gas period.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video. Helps to give new drivers an idea of what to expect !! Do all trucking companies require that you top off your tanks?
nice job, enjoyed the vid...questions:: was that price per gal a company discount, cause it seemed very reasonable? on average, how much fuel do you burn thru on a weekly basis? how many mpg does your tractor average? thanks..
I saw a BIG NO-NO done here, unless it was out of frame: You NEVER touch a pump after leaving it. You touch the metal of your vehicle BEFORE touching it again. This drains any ESD on your person, so as to not cause a spark, ergo, a huge fireball. (This is why that holding clip is illegal in Massachusetts.)
+automaticdoors315 That ain't true at all. Quit talking about stuff you don't know anything about. Diesel has a ridiculously high ignition temperature. It ain't gonna blow up. That's why diesel engines rely on compression rather than sparking. Diesel engines don't even have spark plugs. It's easier to get the diesel to ignite by compressing it than it is by sparking it.
Goti Taila He is a child that plays roblox. Lol. He definitely does not know what he is talking about. You must be an adult. You could of roasted him for that.
it is recorded in 2009, but here in Romania 2013 the diesel fuel costs 1,70$/ liter not gallons so 1 us. gallon = 3,78 liters so it is 6,42$ / gallon and the average salary / m. is like 300$ and it is a good one, a lots of people earn like tops 200$... then again this is the world that we live... fuck EU it is a fucked up situation, in Germany where the salaries are 20 times bigger the fuel is like 30 cents more.... what can I say, crazy world
I'm sorry for the F word but i got a little angry, I forgot to say that I used to be truck driver my self, I have a video with a Volvo FH12 420 driven in Hungary, and a a full tank cost now days 1460$ for the company obviously and this was a 200 gallon. but what do you think it is fair?
5:38 my favorite part right here, seeing all of that diesel fuel in those huge tanks. Makes me reminisce on when my granddad and I would go on the road together in his 18 wheeler
That’s actually so fascinating how much it ask you just to fill up.
Wow, 2.65 a gallon! It's amazing how much it cost now!
Man I wish :(

I’m starting to watch your elevator videos and your trip reports!
Awesome!! Thanks!
I've got two 150 gallon tanks on my Freightliner. At 3.50 per gallon that's $1,050 for a fill up. That will get me about 1800 miles or 2.5 days.
wow! that's a lot of fuel

On hot days i don't will fill up the gas tank so much...the gas will get more space when it warming up...
I went on an RV trip in 2009 and it took about 75 gallons and every time we filled it it cost us over 100 dollars!

Heyyyy Albany is where my server is hosted XD
Fuel is expensive in California. $4.25/US Gal ($1.123/L) is what I saw on my California trip.
you think 1.12 per litre is expensive?
I saw 1.36 per litre in the UK before
Still a good thing to point out, for those with regular fuel.
Didn't know the pertoleium version of Diesel isn't flammable under normal conditions. Learn something new every day. :)
Do the truck stop shower again please ( balst from the past)
Very interesting!
2:58 There's 2 fuel tanks
Most trucks now a days have 2 fuel tanks for extra fuel for long hauling
A great insight
The Fuel was payed by the Company Correct ?
Damn gas is cheap there in Virginia here in California it is 4.15 for a gallon of regular
Diesel in upstate NY the low i seen was 3.45 per gallon. Thats not bad especially up here but would like to see in the 2.80 range is acceptable. Diesel should be cheaper than gas period.
Cool
WOW! I like this. You should do more of these types of videos.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this video. Helps to give new drivers an idea of what to expect !! Do all trucking companies require that you top off your tanks?
+Brett Kramer I just did so I could go further.
As a matter or fact, it's actually not recommended that you top off your tanks
Diesel was a lot cheaper in 2009 than it is today
it was.
2:41 You need to wait until the indicator resets to 0
What did i do wrong?
He waited until the indicator reset to zero before pumping and he even said "Wait for it to reset to zero"; so what the heck are you talking about??
Great job on the video👍🏻
HOLY MOLY! Over $300 to fill one of these things??? And I thought $40-50 to fill my little Nissan Sentra was expensive....
Its about US$12 a gallon here in the UK.
@dieselducy Right it doesn't explode
The mileage is 486841.3 miles
dieselducy,
I did not know you were a semi driver.
When did you start driving?
When did you stop driving?
in turkey you pay 550 dollars around for this. 4,80$/gallon
I think he said that his tank was half full, so the 300 dollars for 114 gallons is about right for the time this video was shot
7:11 Gas was trying to get spoiled out
so much fuel
About $650 worth of diesel now.
My gas cost 378$ from E to F
How did you get fired from this job?
This sale --> $304.10
Gallons --> 114.367
Wish fuel was this cheap again.
I pump until there is no room left in the tanks so I don't have to stop as much
Hey you used to drive a semi truck at a company why doent you work there anymore
who pays for diesel refills to 18 wheelers: the driver, or the trucking company?
Moses Rios With some "Drive-away" companies, the fuel is actually paid by the driver, the system sucks..
NO! No fuel is paid by the driver. The driver pays at first, 1 month after delivery, he gets the gas money paid back!
You don't want to overflow your tanks
no i dont.
how long does the diesel fuel last for
Bout 1300 miles to a tank. He's probably getting 7 miles to the gallon if it's just freeway driving.
nice job, enjoyed the vid...questions:: was that price per gal a company discount, cause it seemed very reasonable? on average, how much fuel do you burn thru on a weekly basis? how many mpg does your tractor average? thanks..
I was curious on one thing. If you did take a cash advance would they deduct it from your paycheck?
gladfan1989 yep
holy sheet cheep diesel ,up here 4.09 a gallon

georgef551 diesel can't catch fire you Muppet
That's pretty cool, had no idea there was a points system that would enable you to get free showers....learn something new everyday. :)
That's when has was ehh kind of cheap, but now it's $4.00
Trucking's gotta be an expensive job to have.
If you own your truck it can be
come in Romania to buy with $ 1.76 per liter of diesel
how much the fuel last? if you have the two full tanks? Highway driving of course.. and how many gallons is each tank?
You don't want to overflow your fuel tanks
6:30 See it's full you don't want to overflow your tanks
does the motor must be turned off while you filling up with the fuel
sid'ahmed abdaty YEAH IT NEEDS TO OR ELSE GUESS WHAT EXPLOSIONS HAPPEN

That pumps quick and its cheap too
Now I know where you got your name.
:^)))))))))))))))))))))))
Is this in NJ? In NJ you are not allowed to pump gas yourself since it is a state law.
Dream Big Productions/Plush Bat Fan obviously not
It's Georgia
Uhh diesel is flammable without being compressed. What do you think they used for the scenes in Backdraft?
Uh nearly impossible to burn diesel in open air without a wick . It's lack of flammability in open air is way the military use it.
Per DOT diesel is combustible but not flammable. Different regulation is passed on both. Gasoline is much more volatile, diesel is no big deal.

$2.65 a gallon for diesel and that was only a little over three eyars ago. Now it averages over $4 here yikes!!
Oh
It is so much cheaper in USA than sweden.
3:14 Pump going too fast!!
Are you going to get the tesla semi truck?
He's no longer a truck driver
WHOA I almost gave a fuck
LegendMeadow oi, sorry jeg trodde det var veldig snilt
That must be a pain n the azz when its cold outside
Shakes 73 not really
I know how to put gas in the car.
Awesome!
3:13 Fuel pump going too fast!!!!
Once the pump stops on its own your done, Topping up is a bad idea. If you do that you can cause a spill. So what this guy did is wrong.
Let me get this straight. U worked for Marten, was fired and then worked for Schneider and got fired? Or did u quit to go back to the railroad?
he quit Schneider to go back to the railroad AKA Norfolk Southern
what did you do for the railroad
He operates diesel locomotives
So cheap diesel as I see
Don't skip on showers,, Go take a shower
