- Hello RUclips!
And welcome to the channel. Today's video we are looking at the brand new Suchiyu SCY16103 1/16 scale off road Jeep. This particular RC comes in four different guises Jeep, truggy, buggy and basher. This is the Jeep version but the basic running gear is common to all four versions. Not a bad RC but little to no spares backup at present makes this offering a risky buy! Please do the channel a favor and click one of the links below, it REALLY helps the channel!!

I bought the 16101 model, but I think it is basically similar to the 16103. It is my first RC car to enter this world, I look forward to receiving this at home and have fun. Thanks for the review
Yes i think your right. It shares the same basic chassis. Not a bad RC have you seen any spares becoming available for them yet? 👍👍
Not at the moment
@@gennaro982 that's the only issue I had with recommending it. Is spares back up, hopefully some will materialise soon. 👍
Hi dear, my 16101 model RC car arrived just today! first impression not good, the car does not go straight, I tried with the steering trim adjustment, but without success. it seems that the front wheels are not perpendicular to the floor, is there any adjustment to be made that I don’t know? I suspect my car was faulty and I have to send it back? Sorry for my bad english (Google translate)
@@gennaro982 no need to apologise. There is no adjustment on the car with regards to the steering. Only the trim on the transmitter. They do come with a bit of toe out on the front wheels which is fairly normal. Is it particularly bad? 😔
A great review. I do like the 'economically' priced small RCs. Your videos are very useful. 👍
Yep the videos are just like the director, cheap! 😅 I do find myself gravitating to the more affordable side of the hobby, that's for sure! 👍🙋👍
Great review. Yes, I like the look. Parts are available now. I also want to see if I can get compatible full metal drivetrain.
As predicted they have released a KM version! 👍
Got 1 of these from aliexpress turned up today I think its bloody good fun could do with upgrading suspension but other than that for £56 its a gd dun little car love it no where near as fast as advertised but I didn't want it for speed its for the hills up my local park to have some fun with my son got fed up with watching him driving his car around and I was stood watching well happy for the price p.s on flat ground its a proper little beast handles so well on tarmac
Like I say in my video there's nothing inherently wrong with this little RC. And for the money it's not bad at all. But the biggest turn off for me is no spares back up. And those plastic driveshafts will break eventually, they all do! And yes the suspension is pretty crap but so are alot in this price point. I'm just looking at compatible shocks at the moment for it. 👍👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 let me know if you manage to find any please as I'm also looking for shocks already lol
@@setthestandardsimracing8689 will do. 👍☺️
Should try it on a crawler course or some rocks to see what it is capable of. Curious to see.
@UP-NORTH_RC I personally think it would be terrible. Its just not a crawler. 👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 ya definitely agree but would be cool to see what else it could handle 🤙
@UP-NORTH_RC I'm going to say very little. It's purely a basher / dirt tracker. Still good fun, though, with the right terrain. 👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 yea I definitely agree with yah! Might be getting one soon. I'm a crawler guy but there's always room for new things in life 😃
@@UP-NORTH_RC definitely!
uhh yup.. the plastic hubs with screw running through the bearing...
pretty common with the Subotech/GPtoys/Haiboxing factory stuff,
all good performers for the price, if you catch them on sale cheap.
their plastics are a good mix of flexibility+rigidity, tough to break.
this one in particular, springs are way too stiff, totally agree!
A285004 shocks may fit, about 12 bucks a set of 4 in fleeb hay last look.
may or not require drilling screw holes (chassis arms) to mount them.
those shocks are "to me" price, means much less expensive in China,
so I really don't understand why they bother with the "pogo sticks" at all.
Well it literally all comes down to price. It's not a bad RC it's just the competition it's seated with. 👍
I just bought it yesterday,
but I don't know how to install the electricity
please make a tutorial!,
Thank you
Is it the battery you are having issues with? 👍
These cars are now at a very, very good price for the brushed versions!
They are still hovering around the £60-70 mark here in the UK. Do they do a brushless version then? 👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 Yep they do a brushless version, practically the same just brushless motor and I think different ESC. The same model name but pro on the end 😂😂 SCY 16103 Pro
Well done review brother! I totally agree with you on the top speed claims. Why couldn’t they advertise the top speed they get with the battery they sell it with, and disclose in a side note that higher speeds such as the speed they advertise can be achieve with a higher voltage battery. That would win over my respect! Makes them liars in my book. Otherwise it seems ok. The looks are very mean looking which I do love as well. Brushless version, along with oil filled shocks and some metal drive components would make this a winner. Great job my friend!💥👊🏼💯😊
Yes, I know we all sort of ignore these wild top speed claims. And I'm not sure if it actually sells more by claiming a spurious top speed? But out right lying on the packaging wouldn't be tolerated anywhere else, so why does it exist in the RC world? But I would genuinely love to know how they come to the figures they do. Wether they just pic a random number from a hat possiblity? Now this isn't a bad RC and i would have recommended it, were it not for the fact that I can't find any spares for it. Shame really 😑. Thanks as ever for taking the time to comment. 👍
I’m pretty sure when they come up with these claims, they are tested with a higher voltage battery. Like instead of a 7.4v they use a 3s. So if they get 39mph with 3s, they then round to 45 or 50mph and put that on the box as the advertised speed and only give you a 2s li-ion or lipo and expect us to accept it! We should all stand up to it and call them out on them being dishonorable liars. And by the way, your welcome 🙏🏼 brother!💥👊🏼😊
@@BangForYourBuckRc its a downhill run after landing a jump!
totally agree, its FRAUD! fully freshly charged they should do 95-100% of their claimed top speed on level ground, AND be +/- 10% on run time.
I'd consider it fair enough to rate run time at constant WOT, not lots of stops and starts accelerating, which pulls more current.
@@modelnutty6503 I 100% agree about it. Let’s do something about it, and call them out every time!
@@modelnutty6503 couldn’t agree more friend!👊🏼😝
You do find all the parts for these on Aliexpress.
You can get some bits but not many.
I like the look also .. it's different and kool
Yes its certainly a good looking machine! 👍😄
Great vid mate! Nice to know it has a rudder machine. The XDKJ002 I reviewed last week has a high torsion propeller which was extremely good 😛. I'm quite passionate about the false speed claims as you may know its bothers me a lot. If a speed is advertised then it should do that using the included battery unless otherwise stated. I've even tried 3s on a lot of these cheap cars and the escs will either catch fire or they still don't achieve said speed. Not sure where they get these claims. Not a bad truck but the budget RC market is incredibly competitive now and there are so many tried and tested great models out there which make newcomers incredibly difficult to justify. Cheers mate 😎👍
Who wouldn't want a high torsion propeller! I did get an RC once which had shockaroofs fitted instead of the traditional shock absorbers which was nice. Yes, as for the top speed claims never used to bother me. But now I'm thinking if it was anything else, and the manufacturer out and out lied on the packaging about the performance. There would be hell up! And it's not by a little bit, sometimes it's double (I know I'm preaching to the converted here). I genuinely would love to know how they calculate these top speeds though! 👍👍
yup, lmao(?). same with 12v audio amplifiers, look at the claimed wattage output..
"foh hunna wattseses!" oh, you mean 4 channels at 33 watts max clean,
clean meaning 1% distortion or less? THAT "foh hunna wattseses"?
@@modelnutty6503 very true. 👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 known for decades the numbers can't be taken seriously.. unless ya divide by 3!
I hope i can get some help here. Just got one this week, turned it on, servo turned the wheels only slightly, rear wheels spun, then everytjing stopped. After about 20 minutes, plugged everything in steering doesn't work. Rear wheels ran for 30 seconds, dead again. Tried everything. Am i doing something wrong?
I don't understand why just the rear wheels turn? I there drive train missing to the front? This is very strange 😕
Looks really good!
It does there no denying it. But I just can't recommend an RC that has no spares backup! Thanks for the comment! 👍🙋
Good day! I still haven't measured that input gear 🤭 I've ordered the parts so they'll come eventually but when is a question!? Great vid as always my mate 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Good evening sir! No worries, if you feel as though you want the parts this side of Christmas just give me a nudge and I'll get the old verniers out 😄. As ever appreciate you stopping by and dropping a comment! When are we going to get another speed run? 👍👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 I will mate! And God knows depends on the weather. It's too wet and windy for speed runs but soon as it gets a little better I'll be straight out there hitting lamposts and curbs 🤭 My hyper is ready for 150mph run so that should be interesting 🤔 I'll message you tomorrow with some dimensions mate 👍🏻
@@ksrnate 150! Jesus 😨
Is there any battery upgrades for this one? 10-15mins run time is just not enough
Hello. Sorry for the delay in replying. What i normally do is stack a couple of the smaller li-po's on top of one another using a little plug adapter. In most cases this works.
looks cool,great review
It is a good looking machine! But unfortunately no spares though (at the moment). 👍👍
tyvm for info
Your more than welcome. Thanks for watching! 😄👍
Definitely a looker. Too bad about the quality though. Thanks for showing.. I have seen these on BG.
The quality, although not MJX standards, wasn't too much of an issue. It was the spares situation that was the problem. Thankfully, this has been resolved. I tested the JJRC version of this truck, and so far, it's been OK. Just a plastic driveshaft snapping, which they all do eventually. Replaced with metal items and off we go again. 👍😀
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 nice!
Were can u buy drive shafts my rears have gone i have this same truck
@DonnyrcCrawlers 275924423333 here is an Ebay item number. 👍😊
8:43 hello friend, which site did you find metal parts for the differential?
It was an eBay shop that supplied the diffs. I'll try and get the name . 👍👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 thanks, as I couldn't find a metal differential for it in the correct size...
Hi, can you tell me about stock battery life?
Hello 👋. If I remember correctly it lasted on the standard battery between 10 - 15 Minutes. Hope this helps. 👍
Hello, mine is going full throttle without pressing the remote, it happens also sometimes when i press the middle inverter button. Do you thini its the esc or the remote ? Thank you
Hello. Sounds like the transmitter. What's the middle inverter button? 👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 the button to invert right and left turning.
@@anisghil that definitely sounds like a faulty transmitter.
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 thats what i think, also when i push forward the throttle, it doesnt break, but go backward when the car is on the ground. but it breaks when i test that and lifting the car... Possessed car ..
Got the gantry pro for 76$ after tax
Bargain!!
This would awsome if was a bigger scale . I like how it looks . Just to small .. for me at least . I buy nothing under 12 the scale
Yes it does look the part!
Good review
🔵🔵🔵👍👍👍😀😀😀🔵🔵🔵
Thank you very much! 👍👍
I want a bigger and better one its very Kool looking jeep? Rubicon with no fenders
It would be nice to see a larger scale version.
Now working?
As far as I'm aware yes. 👍
Do you recommend it or not?
???????
At around 18:00 into the video I believe I said no. HBX 16889 brushed is the same price and you can get the spares. Nothing wrong with it as a whole, but break it and your stuffed. 👍
Mn Gwagen wheels they are.
Very astute observation, but I think they are slightly different. They do look very very similar though. 🙋👍
I have a problem I bought my buggy a year ago and it does not go forward or in reverse, does anybody know how to calibrate the controller to the buggy? Thanks in advance
Hello. Do you still have steering?
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 yes I still have steering
@@brayanmedrano600 i think by the sound of it the esc has gone pop on the board. It probably needs replacing.
Hmmm, the first mod I'll do then is to turn that bit that breaks off at the wheels into headless stainless steel nuts and use locknuts on the ends for the wheels.
Sounds like a plan! 👍👍
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 I can only imagine how annoying it will be to have to try and extract that broken off screw, rather do a small mod on it to prevent a huge headache later on. So this will be the first mod I'll do on my Conquerer/Rapidly as soon as i get it. I think it will be even more urgent because the Rapidly has bigger wheels than the Gantry so breaking the screws is even more of a grim possibility.
@@philiprccars4340 i would say it was nigh on impossible to get them out!!
@@theminiatureconstructionco4556 This will be my very first must-be mod when my "Rapidy" arrives, because It takes more than a month for spare parts to arrive from China, so in this case prevention will once again be better than cure.
Has anyone found anywhere that sells spare parts?
As yet I've not come across anywhere unfortunately. Which is a shame because it's not a bad little truck. I would be very interested if you do find somewhere. 👍👍
I've found some on AliExpress now but unfortunately no metal upgrade drive shafts or oil shocks. It's a shame because I really like the body style and wheels. I wonder if the body would fit on a 16889?
@@jamesmarkjackson1979 I'll have a look. I bet there will be shocks to fit that you would just have to measure them etc. Same with dogbones. I would be surprised if the transmission is completely unique to that truck. If the wheel base is similar there's no reason given a little time and patience you couldn't get the body to fit the HBX. 👍
That would be great. The chassis seems unique as far as I tell from pictures but very similar to HBX. Same with the suspension arms they are different styles to HBX and Xinlehong it seems but as you say you would hope some parts are a standard size.
I paid 76$ after taxes
Bargain RC! 👍
