Throughout the last 10 years of osrs one thing has remained the same, players want to acquire the games most expensive item. I think many people might know the most expensive item in 2023, but what about 2013?
The game has changed a lot in 10 years, and when the game released many of todays most expensive items didn't exist. I am going to traveling back and creating a timeline of oldschool runescape's most expensive item.

I think a big factor when it came to the 3rd age axes' price was the fact that it's small and doesn't look that cool. The main reason it hit max cash is due to the future release of the 3rd age 2h axe, which looks absolutely epic.
once 2h axes are created you will not be able to revert back to normal 3a axe. In turn thinning out the supply of regular axes because everyones going to be making 2h

i know that but once converted to a 2h axe it cqan never be reverted back/ 3a axes come in to the game very rarely. interested to see how this plays out in due time@@aaronsvoboda5897

3rd age pickaxe is currently 7.25-8b.
3rd age axe is currently 3.5b, as of Today - 9/15/2023 8:27 P.M. GMT.
That's because of inflation. Gp is at an all time low. Not enough gold sinks.

I last quit after buying a long term flip of a 3a wand. Bought it somewhere in the 250-350m range iirc. Saw last year in Nov they were selling for max cash… they’re still 1-1.2b atm, if only jagex lets me back into the act…
You are absolutely right I ONLY played oldschool the day of release to swap gold to rs3 and I bank about 1b runecrafting

I really Like the 3rd age Equipment. An Harpoon would bei awesome.
I'd really like to see a 3rd age broadsword or 2H, and a 3rd age halberd.
To be fair the 3a Bow has the same attack speed as a shortbow and has +5 range bonus over msb (i) so it actually is kind of useful. Would love to see a scim and 2h
why harpoon? its so dumb they added metal harpoons, theres no bronze-rune harpoons, so why dragon+

Incorrect dfs was highest expensive item up to 75m. The rest were none official and prices fluctuate due to being cosmetic than useful item. Dfh was between 25m up to 40m because no demand same as 3rdage.. the price that you found out on external platforms are randomly set buy the sellers unfortunately
Man, this video made me start thinking about if anyone has ever obtained EVERY item in OSRS? What would the value of that even look like?

Bought a bunch of 3a before leagues. People always sold gear before leagues because demand tanks and stored it in 3a items

Kinda wish they'd re-release 2013's 07 osrs. OSRS has just went sideways so far that i miss the original rs2
I really miss rs2 but I'd prob prefer 2011 era since there was no squeal of fortune, MTX def kept RS/Jagex afloat/alive but introducing that p2w scenario was really annoying. PVM was actually super enjoyable then because you didn't have to be a sweaty try hard with summoning and dung weapons but it was still a really engaging experience, Nex was def my favorite back then lol.

I had several 3rd age pickaxes back in 2019-2020 and sold them for 1.6-2b. Definitely regretting that decision now...

I heard a rumor that one of the first shadows sold for 5b within hours after TOA released. I also seen people offering to buy shadow at 3.5b same day as release but that could just be a merch clan trying to boost price
I sold one day after release for 3.4b so yeah it's legit
the first shadow did sell for 5b. There was a whole discord, people had real offers in for staff weeks before the raid was released

As long as they are cosmetics, I'm ok with the inflation of the price. If the gear for pvp/pvm items got inflated on price, the game will become more pay to win.
3rd age pick is a good hedge against gp inflation. I don't feel as strongly with the other 3a items. They met "resistance" levels past max cash and many dropped back down below in the past few days.

The osrs market has always baffled me. How does zenyte jewelry, which is bis, fluctuate in price so dramatically? Its bat shit, how does a bis melee amulet go from over 13m to under 9m in 2 months? A 30% decrease in 2 months on a bis item? Its not like people randomly started camping demonic gorillas in 2023. Then the most insane and unexplainable trifecta of weapons - the fang, dh lance, and rapier. For reference, the fang and lance are both 35m and the rapier is 47m. The rapier is bis at a grand total of ZERO bosses, and is only bis at 3 mid level slayer bosses - jellies, suqahs, and trolls. Meanwhile, the fang is bis at 6 bosses, and second best at 26 other monsters, yet its 12m cheaper?? Then the lance is really only useful at like 6-7 encounters and is otherwise useless and its the same price as the fang? Make it make sense. Who in their right mind would spend 47m on the rapier? There's literally no point

I feel sorry for any willing to pay more than Max cash for a 3a axe/pickaxe and thats coming from a person that owns both of them.
Its just a classic wealth flex at this point, none is gonna buy them for any other particular use
I owned the first 2 3a axes in game, cost me 1700m and 1516m respectively. I couldn't sell them for 2 months, it just looks bad and no one wanted them. Then sold one for 1697m and 1 day later rebought 913m and saved my losses from that bad investment.
So raids 1 had a range bis, raids 2 had a melee bis, now raids 3 has a magic bis, what do you think the next raids bis item will be since we already have all 3 skills? I’m thinking armor
a new weapon that can switch between melee and autocasting spells or something probably that competes with t2 weapons but doesn't require a weapon switch

One of Shield or neck would be my guess. Shield makes most sense as its very visible item.
The most expensive items are the most useless though compared to other items
Which I'm actually happy about because it means people won't spend their real money to get the best gear. As long as they're cosmetics I'm fine with it

@@harrypjotr4987 odd comparison. I meant how people won't have the ability to use real money to boost their account and thus have an "advantage" over others. If it's purely cosmetic, idc that people spend their money on that
Edit: ofc they have the ability already cause you see plenty of low lvl accounts with insane gear, but I'd rather have those items cost less money and therefore making it more accessible to normal players who don't spend real money than it being as expensive as p hats, Christmas crackers etc. Are/used to be (they're still in RS3 right?)
its mindblowing how people even feel like rs is worth playing or grinding. the amount of people that think people had that much gold legitimately as far back as 2015 after roughly 2 years of playing is laughable.

Seriously doubt anyone has trillions of gp. Also, gold sellers, and buyers get banned all the time every day so lots of gold is leaving the game.
@@TezzyRs you’d be surprised lol. I had a buddy running scripts for various things. He sold about 1b per 5-6 days. They don’t get caught as often as you think. You just have to layer the accounts.
Number one thing you don’t do as a gold seller is mule it all on one account, that’s a fast ticket to losing all your profit.
there is only 1 trillion on one account in the game right now. Bots sell when they get 10m.

Tbh the 3rd age pick is only 4-6b anyone buying it for more than that is over paying for no reason. And tbh. It's really not that cool of a flex. In your inv sure but the moment you put it on no one really cares. And it looks very very ugly in game. People just see the ultra rich wearing one and want one for no reason.
