"Here's to our father-son first motorcycle trip in Vietnam!" Wow, you'll probably never forget this moment with you dad. Having a journey across Vietnam with your family, especially with your parents is in my opinion one of the best things ever. No one baths in the same river twice. Hope that you enjoy it as much as you can.
Thanks so much for posting this! We will never forget any of the unforgettable moments we all made on this trip together! “In the end, what you do isn’t going to be nearly as interesting or important as who you do it with.” - John Green
It's the legendary Hai Van Pass separating the climates of northern Vietnam and southern areas, where northern regions have 4 seasons (summer, winter, autumn, spring) whilst southern areas have only 2 seasons (rainy and dry). Jeremy Clarkson in 2008 Top Gear: Vietnam Special dubbed Hai Van Pass, “a deserted ribbon of perfection” and “one of the best coast roads in the world”.
We've ridden moto bikes from Da Nang up Hai Van Pass and always stop at Lang Co to eat then drive on to Hue quite a few times. Over the years Vietnam has blown tunnels thru mountains so the ride is quicker. If you go on this ride stop at Bach Ma. It's beautiful there and was totally undeveloped when we went. You can't ride your bike up the mountain yourself but we caught a ride with locals who dropped us off on top where we hiked thru the jungle trails and around waterfalls. We walked down the mountain road as much as we could then caught a construction worker who took me and my wife back down on his bike . It was a great experience
I was glad that you took the bike ride from Hue to Hoi An. Lang Co is beautiful and restaurant in front of windy white sandy beach is so cool. Good job - making me want to do it again.
Sammy and Tommy you guys are amazing and I'm subscribed to your channel. I grew up in the South of Vietnam (saigon) before I moved to the US in mid 90s. ninh binh was great. i did a local homestay as well. biked the countryside all day and came back to a home cooked meal. the train was pivotal in my vietnam travel. it linked all of my stops. despite traveling the length of the country for 40+ hours, each segment i was on operated basically on time. the staff came through regularly with freshly cooked hot food (think street food style) and the vietnamese people were friendly and happy like i experienced elsewhere. if you guys go back i would recommend doing a train journey video. lots of good material and i think those can attract attention outside your normal viewers

I have come to greet you, dear ones of my soul.I have to expand my heart and hug parents. What a beautiful team. Your whole trip to Vietnam made me think about the power of people to be reborn. A country destroyed by war and here is the treasure. Aren't there people who shouldn't live among people? Why war, why death when life is the most beautiful gift. I hug you with great pleasure. Tommy, I loved that you did the motorbiking with your dad. You HAVE to check out Paddy Doyle's video on the Ha Giang Loop (starting with episode 6) as it's AMAZING!!! You and your dad should totally do a northern motorbiking tour in the future. Sammy can, too, Fin (from Tim and Fin channel) learned to ride in Vietnam because they were too heavy for the bike for the Ha Giang Loop. Tia (from One Pack Wanderers) learned to ride in the south and currently, Aimee and her friend (neither are experienced) are learning to ride through the Ha Giang Loop (from the Kinging-It channel). I'm not saying it's easy nor necessarily the safest - especially for the inexperienced - but it'll be the experience of a lifetime, for sure, if you're into adventures like that. And if you're up for it, do the Dinosaur Spine (scary ride!).
When I saw you guys reunited made me think of the Peaches and Herbs song Reunited.. anyway another fascinating video you guys, although I have been to Hoi An, I can't remember much of Hoi An, it's been a while though when I saw Tommy drive through hai van pass some memories came back.. thank you once again my friends for another fun filled video

I'm so glad you guys are enjoying the food too, I have been taught by my mother how to cook a few dishes, I hope I can be able to share with you guys one day when we can catch up.. what has been your favorite vietnamese dish so far??
Awesome adventurous vlog guys! A few weeks in Vietnam will have to wait until we go full-time nomad in 2025, but we are excited to have 8 days in Hanoi, Hue, and Hoi An this August. Any can't miss suggestions for these areas would be appreciated. Subed to see more from this area and to see where your soles take you. As a father and son who are park rangers and anthropologists, we love to share our cultural and ecologically minded adventures and to support others who do likewise. we wish you great experiences in 2023 and hope our channel can return the inspiration some time. - Turtle and Bear
Hi it looks like what you actually eat is just some kind of noodles but certainly not Bun Bo Hue. Properly orders the wrong dish. We’ll try it right next time
I really enjoy your videos. They're informative and engaging. However, I noticed a small inaccuracy at the 2:50 mark. The body of water you referred to as the South China Sea is actually known as the East Sea by Vietnam. There's an ongoing territorial dispute in the region regarding the naming of this body of water.
I personally thought the best beach on this video was the one Tommy and dad rode on the as the sand was actually white. And cows on a beach? Never seen that before! Vietnamese people avoid the sun, so all the white people have the beach to themselves during the day to tan (Asians, unlike white people, wanna be lily-white). :) That cemetery...wow!!! So spectacular in every way. You guys are gonna love Hoi An as must people do. If you didn't visit Da Lat this trip, you'll have to visit it your next as so many love Da Lat.
You're right! That was an amazing spot 😍 We should of stayed at that beach longer. Loved seeing the cows enjoying it as well 😂 We have heard that about Da Lat, so many places to see! Next trip for sure! Thanks friend 🤗

I think all the people saying it's not bun bo Hue are used to seeing the southern version of it. Bun bo Hue is named after Hue, an area it came from, so they know what they're doing. Also keep mind, they may be making it a certain way to appeal to Westerners as I doubt Westerners would want the blood cakes, gigantic pig trotters, shrimp paste on the table, etc. With that said, southerners (many of whom are overseas and likely to speak out online) will make their own version as they did pho and then will recognize/claim it to be a specific way...but that doesn't mean it's the original version. It's a bastardized version of the dish. Oft times, they'll see banh xeo (which tend to be smaller in the Central region and sometimes white in color vs yellow) and say it's made wrong even though the Central region is where banh xeo originally came from. LOL! They are very vocal in comments and very recognizable because they will INSIST you call Ho Chi Minh City as Saigon.

The Vietnamese don’t call that sea the South China Sea. That’s the English way of stereotyping everything eastern as Chinese. Vietnam calls that sea the East Sea.
The Chinese do not fully understand English. When saying South China Sea causes the Chinese to think anything with the word China, belongs to them; and the Chinese forgot that the China town in San Francisco, US belongs to America, not China. By contrast, the Indian people are quite smart knowing the Indian Ocean never belongs to them. It instead just tells that the location of the ocean is next to their country, India :)
