    Great video. The best part was the addendum at the end! It always seems that there’s the little things that need to get worked out, but after a year of using the tool, they’re forgotten!

    Thank you for putting the effort into this video. We have the same planner and had to make a few adjustments to the infeed/outfeed rollers. Otherwise, the machine is wonderful.

    I recently bought a Shop Fox 15HH planer and I watched your video on set-up. I am trying to get the in-feed and out-feed tables level with the planer bed. It looks like all the in & out-feed tables attach the same way. I am struggling to get everything level. When I tighten up the bolts, it raises the end of the in-feed and out-feed tables. Are your tables tight with the bed of the planer or is there some play in them? Can you provide some more information and pictures if possible on how you got your in-feed and out-feed tables level? Gratefully, Mark

    Does the unit make a really loud bang on startup? I just got the same planer and it runs great. But on startup there is a really loud bang noise. Googling makes it seem like this is pretty common or even normal. Thanks for posting!

    Hello David. Can you show a picture of the electrical plug that comes with the HH15. I'm going to wire another 220 volt receptacle for when my planer arrives in about a month. Hopefully. I really enjoyed your video. You do a great job. Thanks Wayne H.

      If I remember right you choose your own plug due to the difference in local codes or needs on mine since I use it on a rolling base. I use a twist lock receptacle and drop the power cord from the ceiling. I hate to step on cords. I do this for the Band Saw, the Jointer, and the planer.

      @Turning Round I had noticed your comment in video about the twist lock. They didn't offer me any choices on plugs. Mine will have a wall right to the left of it. Ideal for a low wall outlet. I was just hoping to find out what came with it. Thankyou for your time. Wayne H.

    What settings did you use to get no snipe? I’ve tried all sorts of play with the bed leveling and bottom rollers but still get a lot of snipe at the beginning and ends of jointed boards.

    • @turninground3511
      @turninground3511  3 года назад +1

      Chris, snipe is in the nature of the beast. There are many tricks you will read about to help eliminate it. I find it to be greatly reduced with the helical cutter head. However I produce snipe when I take a deeper cut than I should. Soft woods can flatten easier as the indeed rollers grab hold. My best bet is to account for snipe in my plan and take light cuts. My tables are level and clean. I recheck them from time to time. I've also learned once you make a pass and it looks great if you run it through again at the same setting you pick up roller marks on the second pass. I hope this helps.

    • @cteran08
      @cteran08 3 года назад

      @@turninground3511 That’s unfortunate! I had my fingers crossed since you said some of those first cuts had no snipe!
      So far the best bet has been to use a sacrificial board.

      @@turninground3511 also, just had an idea with the rollers, tried raising the infeed and outfeed rollers to about .025 lower than cutter head and then pulling back the tension on the roller springs, a little over 1/8” backed out. As long as the bed rollers are no more than .0010 higher than bed, it seems to give very minimal snipe! At least nothing that a quick

    Great video! I have one of these on order. Could you comment a little further on the electrical connection? I'd like to wire up an outlet before the planer gets here, but the manual is rather vague. You said you used a 30 amp Twist-lock plug with a 10 gauge cord. What size breaker did you use? Manual says to use a 40 amp breaker, but your Twist-lock and wire are only rated 30 amp. Did you worry about this? I know the in-rush current is much higher than the running. Also, a good shot of the motor nameplate would be helpful.

    • @turninground3511

      Kevin this is a 220 plug. It will be specific to the codes in your area. Pretty general really. But you do have choices. For me I don't like cords on the floor. I drop down from the ceiling. So for that I use a twist lock plug and receptacle. You can use different types for different applications.
