I installed one in my 8 inch grizzly jointer. Had to purchase a larger bearing block on the side opposite of the drive side and a new pulley for the larger shaft. It was soo worth the headache. That thing cuts smoooth. Can't wait till I get one for the planer.

New rookies should always be taught to work with safety equipment (push boards, feed devices, ect.) until they get the "feel" of their equipment. Even then for legal reasons cautions should be given, such as "do as I say not as I do," because this is inherently not safe.

@@markgalicic7788 when you install to a bearing you need to support he race the load is first transferred through . The best process would be to install the bearings to the bearing holder and press through the outer race, this way no load is transferred through the balls and raceways. Once that is successfully installed you than press the inner race to the shaft . Hence no load is put through the ball races. You can look through the standards in the “Machinery Handbook “ which is over 90 years old and constantly updated and the process is spelled out.
