Robert Palmer was one of the coolest musicians of the 1970's and 80's. His contributions to music are tremendous. He should without a doubt be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
RIP Robert. You left us too early. One very good rocking song by Robert Palmer…… he knew how to sing them….. miss him….. RIP Robert. Love him & miss him!
I had no idea this song was recorded in 79 jaw on the floor. My son & I were listening to it on the radio 3 days ago. Classic. Robert was an incredible singer. I loved his collaboration with Andy Taylor & John Taylor in The Power Station ..1 of my fav albums
1979 was a great year and in November of 1979 I met my the beautiful lady that would become my wife. We were married in August of 1980 over in Korea and our first daughter was born just over a year later in September 1981. Never get tired listening to Robert Palmer and his music is still rocking over 40 years later.
Our generation knew how to rock with signature melodies. You don't hear melodies on the radio anymore cause they can't produce them. It's just one dumbed down song after another from bankrupt music pretenders on the airwaves!
This version from Midnight Special is either perfect lipsych or was recorded and used as Radio Version thats still played today because its the exact song down to the drum beat from the radio!
He was going to do a concert in Ocean City MD when we were on our honeymoon in early October 1979. The radio commercials played this song, so when I hear it I'm always reminded of our honeymoon.
I was going out with this woman recently who thought she appreciated music. She was however rather discriminating in her taste and opinions. When she came to my house for dinner one night I had Mr Palmer playing not too loudly but, at a level that could definitely be enjoyed. Very quickly she derided my choice of music and the artist himself. I knew right then she would soon be sent packing. There's just no way I am embarking on an intimate relationship with someone who doesn't appreciate incredible talent like this. Thank you Robert, you're the best. Oh yeah and thanks aplantage for posting this fab performance.
LOL Usually it's the other way round, the ladies were in love with RP more than their boyfriends. ;) So I feel you, most of my exes didn't like him either, firstly because they were jealous of his looks but secondly because they were rarely able to appreciate his vocal abilities. Even if the songs aren't your thing, which I believe is mostly a matter of taste, people - including music critics! - should at least be able to give him that!
This is my favorite Robert Palmer song, a rocker long before the zombie video girls came along. Loved him then, love him now. Never realized before how much he looked like Michael J. Fox back in the day.
What's your problem, it's a great thing for the younger generation to listen to and be interested in older music. It's better than the shit they brainwash kids with nowadays.
UsfanlovesMinho on September 26 2003, he died of a heart attack. He had been in the French capital after recording a television appearance in London for Yorkshire TV, a retrospective titled "My Kinda People"
UsfanlovesMinho Yes. he died of a heart attack,, after being given a clean bill of health and had just had a quiet of evening with dinner and the theater.
Actually John Ritter was a year or two younger I think. I believe he died from a similar situation. heart problems. They died within two or three days of each other.
@@SlightReturn666 Looks like I stand corrected. While version seems a tad different from the original studio version, it does seem prerecorded. Damn you, midnight special!
Why hasn't this guy been inducted into the R&R Hall Of Fame! One of THE great artistes of the last 25 years! RIP Robert.
That would be nice
He should definitely be,
It's criminal he hasn't beencinducted yet.
Robert Palmer was a great artist. We lost him too soon. Enshrinement would definitely be a fitting memorial. Cheers
Robert died in 2003.

I remember watching this at my best friend's house as seniors in high school. Lord i miss the good ole days.
RP hitting the spot again, he always seemed to be on top form, a true professional and much missed.
I've envied and admired this man's voice and style my whole life, and most assuredly still do. Thank You
I was fortunate enough to see Robert in concert in my hometown around this time - he was awesome !!

Awesom singer, awesome song!
1979. This guy was all cool. Just look at him. If he didn't usher in the 80s with this performance, I don't know who did.

So cool. His 70's songs were the best!
I love this song
wow it's very rare in any genre to hear someone who sounds just like the album live he really had talent
This is lip-synced, but it's still a great track!
Yeah he could do it live unlike others but sadly this one is lip synched
love this song. He was one of the best!!
Thank you Robert Palmer from Ft Leonard Wood Missouri cc Feb 1980. The jukebox never sounded better...
wow young robert, great talent

One of my all time favorites his voice is perfect
Beautiful times 1979 I wish I could get back to 1979 ❤❤😊
TOP SONG, MISS THIS GUY :( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and sooooo damn dreamy. I'm 80 and he still makes me drool. 🤪
Robert Palmer’s songs were crafted with a futuristic vision
I was 2 years old in '79 when he came out with this on the "Secrets" album...I like all of his stuff, though.
Dam if I could see every concert of his I would!!
This is my favorite Robert Palmer song, a rocker long before the zombie video girls came along. Loved him then, love him now. Never realized before how much he looked like Michael J. Fox back in the day.
As z former DJ in Canada, his songs were requested almost every night I played. A very talented musician and songwriter
Wow never saw this before. I loved this song. Came out in 1979, but of course was over shadowed by "My Sharona" that year.
DAMN RIGHT ONE OF THE BEST
My favorite Robert Palmer song, great summer memories in Florida.
His voice ...aahhhh....!!!
I know you like it, you like it on top. Loved his music.
PERVERT LOL
what an effing great singer.
the best of the 80s
Legend has it that Robert first heard this song on a Moon Martin cassette that was playing in the car on his way to a sound check.
The Eighties Magic
That says it all
'You think I'm cute and a little bit shy?'.....You bet xxx

I LOVE THIS SONG!
in loving memory of actor raul julia and the seven years that we had together.
Fantastic !
He was so smooth
He made so much great music in the 70's.
OMG I didn't realize this was Robert Palmer...
ya he kicks ass live!
Robert we miss you RIP. Never get old!
Amusingly, this is about the most casual I've ever seen Robert Palmer dressed.
In the music video to this song an on the cover of the album that contains this song, RP wore jeans and a t-shirt! THAT was weird!
Doctor doctor give me the news is the best out of the best
Always the suit Robert.
Love Love Love Robert Palmer esp Dr Dr
I'm 13 why do like 80s songs so much -_-
What's your problem, it's a great thing for the younger generation to listen to and be interested in older music. It's better than the shit they brainwash kids with nowadays.
TheGreek43 man it was a joke and honestly 80's music was about as good as todays but either way I honestly like 50's music best
You have good taste!
god dammit! Robert Palmer is still a stud. R.I.P.
Palmer could do anything it appears .. shame he left us too early
Oh yessssssssss, what a gresat entertainer !!!!
I forgot how handsome he was. To die at 54 is was too young. Does anyone know if he had a heart problem like John Ritter did who died at the same age?

Hi guys I just love the song that you sing
42 años después de escucharlo por primera vez, me sigue erizando la piel este tema jaja Fabuloso
Such a nice young man.
Prefer to remember Robert Palmer's music and talent.... no need to compare him to that other guy.
R.I.P .Robert
TAKE ME BACK
Too cool.
I miss him! :(
I always thought it was "bat cave for loving you" lol
Ahhhh the Midnight Special. Unlike so many pop music shows of the day, this one had NO lip-synching, and every act would play at their best 👍👍
Eventually they did switch to lip syncing & it sucked.
You sure? This sounds exactly exactly like the studio version, and the visuals don't line up exactly. Seems very lip-synched to me.
@@SlightReturn666 Looks like I stand corrected. While version seems a tad different from the original studio version, it does seem prerecorded. Damn you, midnight special!
sounds exactly like the studio cut. hard to believe.

Fuck the hall of fame. Robert Palmer was a rebel. His lyrics wou;d be cancelled by todays standards. This guy was on the edge.
Check out his 1978 appearance doing Every Kind of People for some live RP.
