The Raptor is a fuckin´ sick plane!!! I would
F35 is going down in cost everything..people got to realize that the f35 has been going through testing trials uptown to 2019.. not that the f35 is at production cost have dropped major since 2019. F35 is a game changer and with today's threats around the world yeah its gonna cost some.. 2020 the f35a recieved its final flight software update now 9g+ fighter.
for a modern fighter it flies lik its heavy
and to compensate for that weight it has the strongest engines of any fighter jet currently flying...
It's looks like that cuz most all maneuvers we're at very low speed.

any aircraft that can take on 5 F-15's with combat experienced pilots and defeat all of them with 10 minutes is a lot more than you know.

Very limited manoeuvrability comparing to Sukhoi planes. Nice, strong engines, but $58,362 cost of flight per hour I don't see how this air plane can be cost effective to anyone???
Maneuverability does not matter for this aircraft, its entire purpose it to take down the enemy beyond visual range. Sukhoi aircraft cant beat a Raptor or F-35 in BVR combat as they lack the radar and stealth capabilities to evade and spot these aircraft. Cost effectiveness on the other hand isn't too big an issue as these aren't the work horses of the USAF (and never will be).
Interesting, they first need to fix F-35, and second, we heard before about the stealth capabilities of American jets, and they have been shot down by some cheap equipment. So this is all in theory, on the other hand there you have Sukhoi 35S which was evolved through all these years and is practically a step from a 5th generation fighter plane. By the time they would need it in real situations they will improve its radars. And, don't forget they already started with testing PAK-FA even in Syria. As, for work horses of USAF, what, they will use forever the F-15s and F-16s? :D It looks like it.
Thats not true at all griff... if "Maneuverability does not matter for this aircraft" why does it have 2D thrust vectoring and why does the demo contain bad copies for Flanker Maneuvers?

This plane can do things you will never see unless you are the Pilot. Nothing can touch it if it does not want you too! If a plane ever gets near it? Something has happened bad. The only time you will know it is around? Is when you are in your Chute watching your Plane going down in Flames! Hahahahahahahaha!!!
American pilots don't "showboat" the way Russian pilots do, but if their mission ever required it, the Raptor has every bit the maneuverability the Sukhoi's do.

Comparing to SU-35S, this plane has much less manoeuvrability, it costs like 5 times more, its hour of flying is the most expensive in the history of aviation. And Su-35S is 4++, and F22 is a 5th generation plane. In a real combat situation, this air plane would put US in even bigger debt than it is now, probably in a matter of two weeks. :D With so much money, and resources, and more expensive materials and equipment in the end US always makes an airplane that will be in the next 5 years or be it ten (which is a short period in military aviation) completely surpassed by much cheaper, easier to maintain and in many ways better, Russian air plane. But keep living in TOP GUN fantasy world, if it makes you happy, dear Yankee Doodles. Brother not even a 3D vector engines, what are we going to comment any further...
you do realize alex that the US does not produce this plane for show. I would hate to know that if I was taking off in a su-35 I would be facing a raptor in real combat. there would be no dogfight. the raptor would have him sighted way before he saw him. you can bet there is high tech in the raptor that is not discussed are shown. i also love Russian jets. your right about maneuverability, no other plane can match them that i have seen. it cost a lot less than the f-22 but it is less a plane.
The best planes that US have at the moment are F-15 and F-16 and they are going to use them for a long time in the case of a real need (F-18 as a derivative from F-15 as well). Raptor is probably usable, but still not tested in real combat, somewhat maybe you are right about raptor, that plane maybe isn't that bad, but they stopped producing it and is just very, very expensive to fly it. Also expensive as a unit and can be targeted by relatively modern SAMs. So, once some of these Raptors get destroyed someone will be in a big problem from US, who sucked the money for it from the budget. These technologies that you speak of need to be tested in real situations. Just too much software, that Americans like to push doesn't really mean that it will work as expected. SU-35S is 5th generation plane in a 4++ generation skin, and even the Russians keep improving it I don't think that electronically is far behind the F-22.

Sadly I watched swift bird's air supremacy contest yesterday and must confess the F-22 looks very dull in comparison. I did the math and calculated the speed the F-22 would need to have in order for it's aerobatics looking the same in dynamics. The Swift is roughly 1:50 of a Raptor in size, it can reach 200 km/h in a dive and does regularly in excess of 100 km/h in it's incredible aerobatics with minimal turn radius of less than ten - fifteen meters. So the F-22 would need to do 5000 km/h in a turn radius of around 500 - 750 m resulting in 3215 Gs --- so I will have to wait some time to see that in this size category, up till then I look forward for the next Swift aerial contest tormorrow....
blah blah blah and the raptor just killed the swift before it knew it was being attacked.....dogfight's are getting rare,real life combat is done at a distance.....Rule of Thumb here-He who sees the other first wins the battle.
