People gone realize.. looking YOUNG by itself is not a flex. Plenty of young looking ppl are still unattractive. It’s about looking & feeling GOOD! Much rather see someone who’s 35-50, looking their age, healthy, and strong… than simply looking “10 years younger” but you still ain’t optimizing your health or just simply taking care of yourself. Looking & feeling GOOD is far more impressive to most ppl.

As an elder Millennial (39 y.o.) this has got to be the most embarrassing phenomenon on the internet. 95% of the time when someone online says they look younger than their age, I look at the profile, and they absolutely end up looking exactly their age. Lol. In our society, sadly, old = unattractive. So what I think these people mean is that they are 35+ and still look good. Which is true! I've seen absolutely gorgeous women in their late 30s, 40s, and 50s. But that doesn't mean they look young. Which is fine! Aging is a blessing!

Many years ago, as a far younger woman, I struggled with age. I was entering my second career and returned to school as a 35 y/o adult in room FULL of twenty somethings. However, now I embrace aging gracefully. As a gen Xer and being the parents of her z’s, I can much more relate to them then parents from previous generations. Cell phones, computers and social cameras to life during my time and exponentially grew during theirs. But I’m still connected. Long are those days of the “golden girls.” we have established new ideas of what it means to be 40 and 50. Gone are the days of shoulder length hair and glasses to establish maturity and wisdom. We are trendier, we’re into fitness, healthy lifestyles, skincare, hydration, soft lives, etc. we’re no longer dinosaurs, we’re phoenix’s. We’ve set a new standard of aging and happy to be hitting 50 and looking amazing for my age!

Too be honest, some people look damn good for their age ,but some are looking in a different type of mirror. Also, women who don't take care of themselves get jealous of those who do. We know a lot of women have a jealous heart ❤️
Be honest! Some women go outside with rags on their hair, shower caps, and even younger women. Some have crispy feet. They never saw a pedicure in their life. If their mom don't know about
Taking care of themselves, their daughters don't either. Their not taught.

I’ll also agree that some folks are really much younger than what they present. I’ll also say some folks (in my generation too) most ppl will guess their correct age and they’ll still say they look much younger 🤷🏽‍♀️. I only know that from seeing lots of social media comments.

Ain’t no way. Maybe you need your vision checked. Even with the 40-something people who look much younger (those are the ones who really take care of themselves, and maybe even get some good work done), it’s not going be by more than 10 years. For eg., Shakira is in her mid 40s and she looks incredible, she looks much younger than her age, but she looks 35, not 25 or even 30. Miranda Kerr looks early 30s and she’s in her early 40s. It’s never more than 10 years, even if they put a lot of effort and money to look younger.

I’m Gen X. I’m 48. It runs in my family to look younger than our age. At 26, I was mistaken for a minor. People are still surprised that I have kids as old as I do, (27,27, & 30). However, I am realizing that I’m getting older and I hate it. The last time I was in a liquor store several years ago and the cashier didn’t ask for my ID, I was hurt. That was my first time not getting carded. My adult son was with me, he thought it was hilarious.💀I even asked him if he wanted to check and he smiled and was like no. I was sick. I haven’t been back to the liquor store.😂

I’ll be honest too. Same issues in the past. I’ll be 47 this year and they stopped asking for my ID at least 5 years ago. That was a tough pill to swallow. Even now when ppl think I’m younger than my age, the youngest they’ll assume I am is early 30s.
I was so used to being mistaken for my early 20s that it didn’t register that the older I get that’ll stop🙃😩😂😂.
I’m fine with it now but it was rough for a minute lol. Also because it doesn’t feel like nearly 30 years ago when I first went to college🙊

I think you only truly look younger than your years when actual younger people mistake you for someone their age. Up to age 40, 20somethings often mistook me for someone who was 28 or so. Medical doctors upon first meeting me, also did. So I can honestly say I looked much younger than my years for a long while. Needless to say, I don't get that shocked look anymore when people find out my current age. Aging catches up to all of us eventually. I had a good run though! 😂

    • @Sherrae
      @Sherrae 7 месяцев назад +1

It was the same for me. Now most ppl still are shocked but it’s a subtle shock now, and the age gap between how old I actually am and how old they think I am has lessened 😂😂😂. It’s typically 10 years less (or less than that), but in my mid 30s they still sometimes mistook me for a minor.
After 40, aged me some, but also I’ve lost a lot of weight over the last 3.5 years and to me that’s aged me even more (and faster).

Same, I looked 25-28 in my 30s, up till I was about 37-38, then aging hit me one day like a ton of bricks, and I suddenly looked closer to 35. I felt really sad at first, especially when people started to say things like ‘what happened? You looked like you were fresh outta college just a couple years ago! You need to stop stressing out, it’s making you look older!’…I wanted so badly to tell them ‘I’m almost 38 you dumbass, I haven’t been ‘fresh out of college for well over a decade!’…anyways, I’m 39 today and I love my face, I don’t look that much younger, sure, maybe on a REALLY good day I look 32, but I’m happy where I’m at, I’m healthy, I take care of myself and I’m content with my life. Gen Z is so obsessed with youth, yet they do everything to make themselves look older. They wear too much makeup, too much contouring, aging hairstyles, and some clothing styles that are way too mature. They are doing fillers and cosmetic surgery before it is necessary or when it is simply not needed. It is truly sad. They better learn to enjoy their youth while they can because when it is gone, it is gone. They have the whole rest of their lives to look "mature". They need to enjoy their fresh, young faces while they have them. Kylie Jenner, for example, looks a good 36, and she is only in her 20s. Sad. They are not going to look good when they are actually women "of a certain age". The women who truly look younger than their years NOW are the ones that did not do all of this crazy stuff when they were young.

I’m a Gen Xer and I was defending Gab cuz they were insinuating she had a bunch of surgery to her face. I simply said, it may be hard for them to fathom her not going under the knife cuz their generation often looks closer in age to us than they desire.
Well that set off fireworks and ppl were coming for me and others days later😩😂😂. I’m far more concerned about the mental well being of Gen Z than how they look because the rate of mental illness and suicide in that age group is at an all time high. That is what we all should be focused on especially in the African- American race.

Now mind you, they had public pages and I was looking confused 🫤 like I’m okay looking my age, but ummm why are we looking the SAME age and we’re nearly 20 years apart… I should look my age, you shouldn’t look my age though… then I decided to block cuz I didn’t want to be mean again😬😂😂

I’m now 39, but somehow online these younger generations are so socially awkward that they try to call me “grandma” as an insult 😂😂 I mean I don’t get it, is there something wrong with being a grandma? Because I love grandma’s, my own and others lol.. But no I’m not a granny yet.. If y’all know 38 yr old grannies then that’s a problem 😂😂 Calling me “grandma” isn’t hurtful in any way lol.. But in real life most ppl think I’m only about 30 because I have a fat baby face.. I will be so delighted when I finally get the opportunity to be a grandma for sure 🤷🏽‍♀️ The young guys love this cute & fat, baby face on this Bajan Princess 🥰🇧🇧

I think it was an over correction to Gen Z being wildly agiest. For a group that swears up and down they are so much more evolved than previous generations they spend a lot of time bullying people online, especially if they're older.( Low key the way they are agiest, obsessed with femininity, and gender roles, they sound a lot like their Boomer grandparents). Are there Millennials that are delulu about aging? Sure, but most are not. If anything most of us want to be left alone, we've been dragged in the media for going on 20 years now.

People saying they get carded is not a flex nor a barometer of how young you appear. Unless you look like Bernie Sanders you’re getting carded. The service industry does not have time to play guessing games, they have to ask for ID.
I’m 44 and I look 44 (though people think I’m in my 30s) and I look good at my age. And realistically what does age really look like? It’s like weight, you can line up people that weigh the same and it looks different on each person.
I look good from head to toe because I take good care of my total wellbeing. My goal is to look and feel good at my age. I’m not trying to chase my youth or compete with the younger folk.

I'm a millennial aged 42 but still maintain a 35 age look and feel. I think what made the difference for us was the marketing of that time yes we wanted to grow up but we dressed and put ourselves together mostly to look our age and even when we tried to look older it was maybe a 2 year bump in our look whereas Gen Z not completely at fault has been forced to try and look much older than they are. The marketing strategy of this time has pushed on younger generation to dress, wear makeup, hair extension etc at a much early stage in their life and also to look older plus the hormones in the foods has a negative effect on our bodies. Yes there are some delusional millennials but I also think a lot of those videos are satire just for likes.

There is a British actress named Millie Bobby Brown. According to Wikipedia, Millie was born in 2004 which would make her 20 years old aka a Gen Z. Millie looks waaay older than 20 and looking at her face, it appears Millie has had a LOT of procedures/plastic surgery done. This is why people think Gen Z is aging like milk...they are doing way too much stuff to their face and it is aging them. Ironically, plastic surgery came up as a medical specialty to make older women look younger, it is actually Gen X and Boomers who should be having plastic surgery (ideally, everyone should age gracefully, of course). Now, I have some theories about why Gen Z is having so much plastic surgery despite being so young.

    • @ladybug0633

LMAOOOOOOO @the thumbnail, caption, and first clip. 🤣😂
I'm gonna let you finish 😁, but *I do still get carded for **_tobacco_** products (18+), and the first time they did it in one particular store, the women at the register even passed around my ID, before asking my secrets. I've been told (sometimes annoyingly) that my ID isn't me, **_and just today_** my man's uncle referenced 1995, sweetly saying before I was born. I thanked him, and informed him that I was **_15 that year._* 😇 He could not believe me, until my man (who is just shy of 9 yrs my junior) verified. However, once I speak, my wisdom does reveal my age (oft even aging me like a "nana"- which became one of my nicknames). It's def my aura and demeanor, b/c I am tall and "slim~thick", with an obvious biological _womanly_ body. I do love that I have an _elder soul_ juxtaposed with my youthful spirit, and admittedly I sometimes am a bit taken aback, myself.
*I always credit my genetics (seriously, **_both_** sides) 🧬🩸, my Holy Spirit, and lifestyle, but it is most especially the first two.* Also not wearing makeup or using many products on my face and overall skin, but nearly bathing in lotion since youth (at least since age 4, literally a hilarious story from my first week of kindergarten I'll share in my own platform). I could continue, but I actually started writing about this very thing recently, so I won't here.
*_THAT ESTABLISHED... I am often met with people _(mostly_** women) who once they hear me correct folks about my age always want to hit me the same thing the first TikToker said in this vid, and [barring **_one_** I can recall], I look at them like 👀😬. In my 🧠, I'm like YOU DEF look your age or OLDER.* No need to try to compare & compete, you're opening yourself up to disappointment at best. I refuse to guess their ages when they ask, b/c it's either lie or unnecessarily hurt feelings; both are a nope for me.
I know I wrote a dissertation here 😅, but I _had_ to speak up as a proper Xennial who actually _does. As well as_ acknowledge that I am in the minority, so you're mostly right. Now, back to the vid.
