Even on my most Renegade of playthroughs, which would irk many because of Wrex or Morden, I never even think of risking Garrus or Tali. For me that would be a line I'd never come back from by crossing.
The only reload I've ever had was because Legion died during the suicide mission. Couldn't bear it, so I had to restart from the start of the suicide mission.
Well it isn't so hard as you might think) Put unloyal Garrus to the charge of the second team while you and your biotic expert crawl inside of a biotic bubble and he is sentenced. The only person who can outlive this assignment while being unloyal to you is Miranda since plot armor, lul. She's also the least possible teammate to die if you take her with you under the bubble FYI. For Tali to survive is also quite easy. Yes, she (along with Kasumi, Mordin and Jack) has one of the lowest surviving rate (unloyal=0, loyal=1, when Garrus has 3 when he's isn't loyal and 4 when he is), but you can f*ck the system by simply bringing her with you to the fight with Human Reaper. Loyal squadmates are guaranteed to survive the last encounter.
@@TheSoundita corollary to this - it is very easy to get Garrus loyal. Just complete his mission. But there are several ways you could lose Tali’s loyalty. If someone ignored Garrus’s loyalty quest, that alone says they’re deliberately trying to get him killed. They’re planning for specific outcomes. And in the OG, ignoring Garrus’s mission meant losing possible Paragon/Renegade points, which would have made it harder to gain Tali’s loyalty and keep it. So, someone has to specifically plan a certain outcome.

If you want Miranda’s achievement, you can do both jack and Miranda loyalty mission and then take jacks side to ensure a disloyal Miranda. Then to get a full squad out for the achievement you do all the steps you mentioned. But for me, go back and make sure they both die so you don’t have to deal with them in me3. Also Miranda had it coming. And Jacob should’ve been more interesting if he wanted to live.
I did it a couple weeks ago on one of my FemShep playthroughs, roleplaying her as somewhat cursed when it comes to relationships in that every guy she's remotely interested in dies soon after. I hadn't realized how many lines Garrus has in 3 until he wasn't there to say them, though having Liara stay for the mission to Palaven's moon instead of leaving halfway through was one of many interesting experiences in that run. I recommend trying it at least once.

Then I got to the point where I'd played so many runs of the Trilogy I could hear the everyone lives dialogues after months of playing other games, so I started experimenting with killing off various squadmates. I've killed off Tali twice so far, and offed Garrus a few weeks ago just to see how it went.
Man. I have a save where I did a full Renegade run, had everyone survive the SUicide Mission, and everything was FINE until Mass Effect 3. Where I had to fake curing the Genophage, and from there killing Wrex along with betraying Mordin, I decided to say fuck that save, and the universe it had created. I shot the star-child and let the cycle continue.
It’s hard to imagine a Mass Effect experience without Garrus Vakarian when you’ve never lost him, but with clips like this, it shows how lucky you were to have him as long as you did. He is truly a GOAT of a character, and that’s among a pantheon of other GOATS.
Bro I went through the Suicide Mission with everything done right and yet because I took Garrus and Zaeed to the final fight somehow, SOMEHOW I found out in the final cutscene that Tali died Needless to say I restarted the whole Suicide mission so the final team could have their precious heavy bois
Garrus and Tali were almost always my two picks for every mission or quest. If it wasn't them, It was two biotics, Jack and Samara, or Liara and the Prothean, but only against reapers, so 90% of the time, Garrus and Tali. I'd be lost without them. Except when going against Geth. Then it was Tali and Legion in ME2. Played on insanity mode, couldn't ask for a better couple of teammates. They just hacked their way through the geth, pun fully intended. My fav teammates for story and literal team, Tali, Garrus, Moradin, Legion, Grunt, Samara, in that order. Actually, I used the salarian a lot with Garrus or Tali. Great for ripping through shields with his burn power

I got Mordin killed in the Suicide Mission. I got everyone out throughout the entire mission, but that Hold The Line segment fucked me over. Honestly, the fact that that segment is weighed by a completely unseen mechanic is the part that makes it bullshit. If I'd had any reason to believe that ANY teammate at all would be 100% successful at the Normandy Escort task, I'd have NEVER sent my strongest fighter, especially if I'd known that whoever I'd send would be gone for the rest of the mission

A mate had told me that they got Garrus killed and a Seeker Swarm carried him away and killed him. You could literally see my face and reaction in the video when Garrus was the last one to get through the door and the Seeker Swarms showed up. For about 2 seconds, Garrus' life flashed before my eyes

He succeeded but wrong choice for later) I picked the wrong person for the bubble and brought tali so she died. And mordin and Jack died defending the last stand sense the areas was to weak to hold off the collectors. So my 3 favorites died cause of my horrible decision making

I appreciate the dedication some players have to show these types of scenes. 90% of us won’t ever see them because we would never let Wrex, Tali, or Garrus die. I’d let both Ashley and Kaiden die if I could save Mordin without screwing over the Krogan or save Thane.

I don't think it's possible to outright skip a squadmate in ME1. If you don't pursue Garrus while looking for Tali and her data, he'll just show up before you board the Normandy, like "Hey, Commander, I heard you're now a Spectre and going after Saren, can I come with you? I really want to get that guy."

When I did my first playthrough, I was so mad because Garus died and I thought it was scripted to happen. So I saw this. Only later did I find out that you can keep everyone alive. For those wondering I used Miranda as the biotic with Tali and Garrus.
I did this once because Miranda said any biotic could do the biotic shield and all thru ME2 she talked about being a biotic phenom. The swarm took Garrus 😭😭😭😭😭 because I believed her! Of course I had to restart the entire suicide mission and used Jack instead. Everyone survived. I could never have a playthrough without my best bud, or my soulmate, depending on the playthrough.
This is neat. I’ve never seen this before because the only runs I’ve ever done have either saved both of them or a meme run where I tried to make Shepard as hilariously incompetent as possible while still getting to ME3’s ending. They both died in 2 on that one.

I didnt know who would die in ME2 so i went with Garrus and Miranda for the last part, causing him to die, I was absolutely crushed, Garrus was my "default" companion for most of ME1 and ME2

Failed loyalty mission, fairly easy to do if you want sidonis to live. Then just improper use of paragon and renegade. He'd be dead no matter what in the suicide mission.

Garrus died in the worst way possible - by save editor. Seriously though, yes, this scene would play out if he didn't survive the Suicide Mission in ME2.
Easily possible if you intend to kill him. You could also get him killed accidently by making some really bad choices or being not prepared enough at the end of ME2.
I think it should have still been possible but a lot more tricky than just being a completionist or having a high paragon/renegade score. Something like how convincing TIM to kill himself required picking the right dialogue options previously.
God I hate how much Biased BioWare showers praise on Garrus & Liara. Tali misses Garrus. Dr. Chloe Michel sends Shepard a text message where she spends more time talking about Garrus than Shepard. If you somehow kill Garrus in ME2, you start over… from Eden Prime. You screwed up so bad your only choice is to start the series over again.

Now I have an advice. Delete this save. Go back to ME2 and do everything for Garrus to survive.

Dude really you killed off garrus what’s wrong with you? For me three squad mates must always survive to the end of the trilogy and those three are Garrus tali and wrex

Failed loyalty mission, fairly easy to do if you want sidonis to live. Then just improper use of paragon and renegade. He'd be dead no matter what in the suicide mission.

@@natomiltary4573 no one hurt me but it is true every squadmate from ME2 brings war assets either by themselves or by doing something like uploading codes or fighting lame assassins while Garrus is the only squadmate who’s absence has no negative impact on the story
@@axelnilsson5124 It would negatively impact my story, I love Garrus. He's the pillar of support for Shepard. The squadmate who is always there for you, even when his homeworld Palaven is burning.

Easily possible if you intend to kill him. You could also get him killed accidently by making some really bad choices or being not prepared enough at the end of ME2.

Being able to have everyone survive the suicide mission was a mistake along with Rannoch peace.
I think it should have still been possible but a lot more tricky than just being a completionist or having a high paragon/renegade score. Something like how convincing TIM to kill himself required picking the right dialogue options previously.

None of the characters’ fates are canon they either die in battle or live to tell the tale
Is this because Garrus died? Not remotely surprising...every time I took him out, I had to resurrect him half-a-dozen times. So Garrus made it all the way in my run through...cause he never got off the bench after I left the Citadel in ME1, the whiney wuss.
