Underrated use of the room impulses-content creation and demo videos sound much more natural when recording yourself sitting in a room. You can plug and play direct into your interface to mess with later and still have that "in-the-room" sound for your video.
I don't understand how I wasn't sent a email when this came out. I went on the site just to look for updates and boom. Bought it didn't even demo it. I loved the sounds and now I'm here XD
Switching to the goldstack cabs, especially with the addition of the room impulses, saved my current project for a client. Will probably never buy another IR pack again now that ive got the Cali & Goldstack (until GGD bring out another studio cabs lol).
I play at home and listen through headphones. My favourite part of Zilla has always been the ability to blend in the room, for the sense of realism it adds. The room in Goldstack sounds even better IMO. Super.
The only thing missing from the Studio Cab plugins is a passive output. Such that fader moves are more about blending rather than adding/removing overall output. I always export the individual IRs I want to blend, and do so in Cab Lab. GGD if you’re reading - make this!!
Nice video as always... big question for Nolly though: why do you keep your Mesa Boogie Mark IIC (or IIC+) head under your desk?? are you using it as an expensive foot rest? :D Just joking, keep these video coming for us tech geeks!
"Even though I didn't play any Tool" immediately followed up by a bunch of Tool, love it. I dig the use of the SM57 as a palette cleanser / reference sound.
I would say the differences in the room between speakers is quite small, I hear more of a difference when you switch cabinets than speakers. Do you think there would be an interest in blending the room of one cab with the close miking of another cab?
the room impulse is amazing
02:17 Woody room ;-)
Using the Barky cab close mics
1. 13:24 sm57 (Adam Jones vibes)
2. 15:27 Fredman
3. 16:09 md421
4. 18:38 md441 (Nollys dark horse)
5. 20:02 m160 mid way between dynamic and ribbon mic’s
6. 21:13 r121 (Bea’s fav, with a 57)
7. 21:20 r121 bright
8. 23:09 r121 Bright & sm57 a little dark
9. 25:09 km184 (smooth, bold mid)
10. 26:29 c414 Bright
11. 26:45 c414 less bright (meaty, less mids)
12. 28:32 U87 bright
13. 28:42 U87 darkish
I think it looks like the last couple samples may be the U67. But confusingly they sometimes go back and forth calling it a U87.

Best rounding room I've heard in a plugin ever

Sounds nice. Really wish you'd have included the 121 in the Zilla suite :D
