As a watch collector, I really hope you are right. Maybe it is in England. However, in the USA, I don't think that is the case yet. If you go to Chrono 21, Oyster Perpetuals, Explorers, Datejusts, and Air Kings are still way over retail price...30%-40% average. $10K or more for a 41mm OP blue dial? No way...😄😡🤦♂️.
I think in the USA the grey market are thinking, the hype may come back, and they won’t have to lose money on their stock. When realisation comes home to roost and their preowned stock isn’t moving, they will have no choice but to discount stock.
Watch dealer (i don't know if authorized Omega) in southern germany had a sign in his store window saying "30% off on all Omega watches". And he had a lot.
To paraphrase the ‘Are You Being Served’ lift (elevator) intro; Second Floor; Royal Oak, Aquanaut, first world speculative buys, going down… First Floor; Daytonas, 57-11, other hype watches, going down… Ground Floor; two-tone, gold watches no-one wants, beat-up used Rolexes, going down… Basement; Omegas, 40% off, deflating bubbles, still going down… 😉😅
Watches in this category are a game that those with funds can play. The fact is that there are many quite fine watches available for under $1000, so paying much more than that and getting into sellers' games to get a watch is basically an expensive hobby.
Yep, it really seems that prices keep going downhill and that is great 🎉 And on that note…. I finally pulled the trigger and bought my first Omega 🥳 Got a brand new Speedmaster Professional hesalite at way below retail. Could not be happier 😀🥳 Cheers Britt, great video as always 👍🏻

It’s over big time. You will be seeing some jewellers shutting soon if not already. It was always going to happen because the numbers got bigger and bigger at a silly speed. We all let go at some point and we’ve pretty much all reached that point. Some models are still in an upper level of a bubble but even very rich people have a point where they just let go. Watch crime and massive inflation has made people rethink about buying and wearing a 10k machete magnet on their wrist too 😬 the Swiss luxury watch market had a good thing going on but they couldn’t stop playing games and ramping up their prices. Omega especially has priced themselves out of the market while doing nothing other than changing colours around on very out of date watches with out of date movements 😬
Dude writing that and then suggesting 'Omega especially' is ignoring the elephant in the room. I think we all know that the most deplorable company through all this has been Rolex and their ADs behaviour has been incredibly bad. At least you could always go into Omega and walk out with the watch yoou wanted (same day) without the snooty 'are you good enough' games, the wait list pretence, the bribery of having to buy jewellery you didn't want, the 'that's not where you start your Rolex journey' bullshit - I mean, come on, and how did so many brand new models get into the hands of the flippers immediately if not out the backdoor for a cut of the gains? Omega put their prices up in a bull market - I don't like that, but it's business. Rolex lost their fucking minds. I hope they get very unfashionable, very quickly.
@@OrdinaryWatchGuy my comments were about the watch bubble bursting and watch brands losing sales. Omegas sales are massively down especially because they haven’t released anything new other than different colours of old watches that desperately need updating while ramping up prices to mirror Rolex without doing the hard work Rolex have done to improve their already excellent watches. You’re absolutely right though and I couldn’t agree with you more. The whole nonsense of walking out of the Rolex AD with a watch worth more than you’ve paid for snowballed into an absolute shambles leading into what must have been almost illegal practices. Suggestions of buying other things you don’t want so you might be allowed to possibly buy a Rolex is unbelievable. Rolex is still in big demand but it’s starting to slip as more and more AD’s are having to sell watches without making people do the dance. People must realise now that the Rolex they walk out of the AD with is probably worth less than they’ve just paid. It’s going to take a bit longer but Rolex will start feeling it soon and people don’t forget about being told they weren’t good enough to buy their watches not so long ago. As a brand Rolex has overheated and their iconic designs are easily spotted by watch thieves. Many people who are very wealthy just don’t want to wear Rolex anymore because it’s more trouble than it’s worth.
@@leeharding8306 but Rolex don't have to worry, they aren't a public owned company. Rolex is privately owned 100% by The Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, which is a not for profit foundation, they do not answer to share holders, publish financial figures or pay tax. No one has any idea how much money they make, or how much of that they donate to various charities and other causes. Supposedly ~80-90% of their total profits are given away. Also Rolex ADs are independent businesses, they aren't owned nor are their sales terms controlled by Rolex. However they cannot sell at above MSRP, which probably accounts for why they have "other" ways of choosing their buyers. Omega is owned by The Swatch Group, they are a PLC floated on the Swiss stock exchange. Like any other huge international conglomerate they exist to do one thing, make their share holders money.
Omega Seamaster 300m in green, spoke to three ADs, all discounting (UK market). I was able to purchase it on a bracelet (£5,600 RRP), plus with the green rubber strap (£310 RRP), for £4,950 all-in, -£960 discount on total RRP 🎉
@@boayoon8715 Hi, the offer was negotiated over a couple of weeks, so personal to my circumstances, I’ll respect the personal nature of the agreement. In any case, you may negotiate a much better deal than I was able to with your ADs. The point was simply that the 3 ADs I chose at random, within a reasonable proximity, all were totally happy to negotiate, hopefully this is encouraging
Loved it. More money- and market-aware content, please! Buying watches is great. Finding value is great. Understanding market dynamics is great. All three is too much fun.
It’s about time. I remember in late 2017 when steel Rolexes started disappearing from cases and showing up at inflated prices on DavidSW and the like. I got my 114060 at retail that summer and it seems I lucked out. I didn’t even need to put a deposit down at an AD I only bought from once before, so it’s not like I had some long-standing relationship with them. And I’m with you, by the way; paying over retail is not only not a good idea financially, it also harms the hobby as whole. If it weren’t for the massive fervor over Rolexes, other brands wouldn’t have started raising prices and cutting out discounting. The only watch I’ve ever bought from an AD at retail is my Rolex; Omegas, Tudors, etc I’ve always gotten at a discount. I’d never consider paying over-retail for a watch unless I win the Powerball and really, really need an AP Royal Oak chronograph this instant. And, actually, had I chosen an Explorer II that summer instead of a Submariner, I was offered 30% off MSRP from a major market AD. Don’t pay over retail, it’s bad for everyone in the long term.
Finally! Good sign for enthusiasts of all collectibles. Happening across the board such as the car market. Flippers having harder time selling for a premium with “reserve not met” on auction sites such as Bring a Trailer
“The bubble” will never come back, it will be replaced by another bubble with new promoters, new brands you’re supposed to care about and new limited pieces and best of all… a new color more popular than the other color everyone was wearing! 😋
4 1/2 years ago I was offered to buy a Royal Oak for $17,000 in Las Vegas and the salesman wanted to to whip out my card then and there at 11 pm. I thought that it was crazy expensive then...but now it is even more absurdly priced.
It's great news for those who will buy on the secondary market, but more expensive for those of us who only buy from our AD as my government just keeps printing currency willy nilly and devalue our purchasing power. 😮💨

Bubble popping? GREAT. I only buy watches to wear and love them for many years. It’s nice that they hold decent value over time, but these things are not great asset investments.
There’s definitely been a big shift. The AD close to my work has all the hype Tudor models on display these days. 1.5 to 2 years ago, you’d be lucky to see a BB58 blue dial on a strap .
Everyone knows this was just a fad, sooner or later this would be over and things will go back to normal. Those ADs will be sorry for playing games, and treating long time collectors so badly now the dust has settled.
Got my Snoopy recently. Bought NTTD, Speedy 57 amd AT 38. Also bought from same OB, the Speedy Tuesday few years back. But, all 4 purchases were something I want, not to build purchase history. Maybe partly as I couldve bigger discounts at AD.

He’s waiting for other Rolex, so wanted to keep the spend history with the AD. So in answer to your question, he was waiting just over a year. However, I know of at least one other person who has now got one too, so I think the wait times are reducing or even possibly disappearing. Go into the AD and make sure they know you want one… good luck 🤞
I want a rolex explorer 40mm. I see them going for over $9k usd. Seems like the bubble is still strong for some models. Think that thing retails for 6.5k.
As a collector who got all his hype pieces (Blue SkyD, white Daytona and aquanaut) at retail. Hell yes!! Finally. The prices and unobtainablility was just insane for collectors. Now retail prices today are just stupid.
Definitely feel like I’m seeing the prices significantly down on group chats/grey market dealers I follow. Exciting times for watch fans who felt priced out the last 2/3 years.
Thanks Britt! So when thinking about this, is the primary determinant of secondary market pricing the likely chance that someone could buy one of these watches new from an AD?
I agree Britt....patiently waiting for an OP at retail. Can't bring myself to pay more for second hand...doesn't sit right and just think it would taint the experience of buying and owning my dream watch.
I need a new Rolex market update thanks I noticed the Rolex is selling cheaper in the uk than America in wanted a gold day date yellow or rose do you think it’s time for me to jump on one or should I wait a little longer thanks
This is what happens when people treat 'everyday' items (albeit luxury) as if they were stocks and shares. If you follow my logic - now is the time to buy...just follow Rule No.1 of watch collecting.... Buy what you like. Then even in the event of a fall in value you still have what you wanted on your wrist.
I’ve been cut out due to ridiculous prices over rrp and I don’t think they are worth much more in most cases. I will wait for my next purchase, prices still too high.
I dont understand the secondary market...I mean in my country a pepsi gmt with oyster bracelet goes retail at about 12k euros. On a famous website for watch resale it is about 22k euros.. how long could the waiting time be to justify paying almost double the price?
I mean it really is time to go outside and touch some grass on the price that some hype watches are still commanding. £25k to £30k for a SS Daytona - nah. No way. Additionally yellow gold and rose gold is coming back in hard and looks much better value right now. As far as Omega goes - I went into Mappin & Webb and tried on a Speedy Pro and I was offered 10% off without even asking. They wrote that down and I took it to Fraser Hart and they beat that with a 13% off offer on either the Hesalite or the Crystal model. I could have walked out of there with a *brand new* Hesalite (on the bracelet) for less than £5750. Rolex and their ADs will be kissing my ass for a long time before I go there - people should not forget how they have behaved through all this madness.
Thanks for the video Bitt. Fully agree 🙂 I saw an Omega Seamaster 300m Diver Nekton Edition in the Window of a German Dealer reduced by almost 20%. I was already feeling a bit lonely as I would only buy watches at listern price or below.
"That speculative bubble is never coming back" , sure it should be the case here with retail prices getting higher and higher while production is increasing. But... people greed and stupidity has no limit so who knows someday....
Hi Britt, Great videos love the channel just have some questions. Surely it’s a benefit that your watches secondary value remains above RRP makes no difference to you? I only see it as a benefit ? As you and I are part of the lucky ones who are able to purchase these very in demand watch’s at RRP. I don’t get the thought process behind it ?
Luxury watches and Porsche 911’s are both going through a big adjustment at the moment with prices dropping month on month. Both the cars and watches are sitting around for a good while before selling at considerably lower prices than first advertised. About time. I don’t understand anyone that would pay over list just to say they own something. It was obvious from the start that these prices were unsustainable in the long-term. There are over 100,000 Rolex watches for sale on Chrono24 - that’s crazy. There are now more watches available than buyers so the prices can only come down.
I remember being offered the no time to die seamaster for 15% off retail in 2020. You can get that discount now for the NATO version. Primary prices have jumped to high for omega/JLC etc. the Polaris is now a 10k watch! I remember when it was £6,800 in 2020. That’s an insane jump for nothing extra
There have to be some kind of market saturation for the ones that buy watches to wear them without any selling intentions. I like watches that normal working person can buy (sub 3k) and there were a lot of great releases in the last few years. We also got over upsizing watches trend so there are more options than the most expensive brands on sub 38mm watches.

I think in the USA the grey market are thinking, the hype may come back, and they won’t have to lose money on their stock. When realisation comes home to roost and their preowned stock isn’t moving, they will have no choice but to discount stock.
patek and ap are never worth the price tag
Man! Retail is a punch in the gut. NO WAY IM PAYING OVER! 😅
Watch dealer (i don't know if authorized Omega) in southern germany had a sign in his store window saying "30% off on all Omega watches". And he had a lot.
To paraphrase the ‘Are You Being Served’ lift (elevator) intro;
Second Floor; Royal Oak, Aquanaut, first world speculative buys, going down…
First Floor; Daytonas, 57-11, other hype watches, going down…
Ground Floor; two-tone, gold watches no-one wants, beat-up used Rolexes, going down…
Basement; Omegas, 40% off, deflating bubbles, still going down…
😉😅
Watches in this category are a game that those with funds can play. The fact is that there are many quite fine watches available for under $1000, so paying much more than that and getting into sellers' games to get a watch is basically an expensive hobby.
Mass produced items that cost a few hundred dollars to make selling for the price of a car. The luxury watch market has always been a bubble.
i feel the same way. i don't want to feed the beast out of principle. i will NEVER spend even a penny over retail for a watch.
Yep, it really seems that prices keep going downhill and that is great 🎉
And on that note…. I finally pulled the trigger and bought my first Omega 🥳
Got a brand new Speedmaster Professional hesalite at way below retail. Could not be happier 😀🥳
Cheers Britt, great video as always 👍🏻
Right?!?! Great for watch buyers and enthusiasts if you ask me! 💕🎉🎉
And omg! EDWIN!!! Biggest congrats on the Speeeedy! 😻😻😻 hesalite as well! SO GOOD! I love the warmth the hesalite brings the watch! Such an excellent choice! Man… I love the new watch feeling!
Great info. Love your videos!
I 100% agree with you about buying retail or over retail. The hunt for a bargain is a huge part of the fun 😊 Sing it baby sing it 😊
Omega Seamaster 300m in green, spoke to three ADs, all discounting (UK market). I was able to purchase it on a bracelet (£5,600 RRP), plus with the green rubber strap (£310 RRP), for £4,950 all-in, -£960 discount on total RRP 🎉
Which AD?
If you aren't getting the rubber strap and deployant for free anyway, your AD is doing you wrong.
Me watching this as if I could afford any of the watches here 🧐
It’s about time.
You’ve actually been watching this market for a while.
Agree. Not that desperate for any watch to pay over retail.
4 1/2 years ago I was offered to buy a Royal Oak for $17,000 in Las Vegas and the salesman wanted to to whip out my card then and there at 11 pm. I thought that it was crazy expensive then...but now it is even more absurdly priced.
Thank you for another episode, Brit
With the exceptions of discontinued and certain highly sought after, limited production models, no watches should be selling above msrp.
Excellent news for enthusiasts who collect watches👍🏻
It's great news for those who will buy on the secondary market, but more expensive for those of us who only buy from our AD as my government just keeps printing currency willy nilly and devalue our purchasing power. 😮💨
Oh good GRIEF! I go through phases with the news - sometimes I’m really invested. Then I get angry and upset. Then I need to stick my head in the sand for a bit! I’m currently in “stick my head in the sand” mode. I’m so sorry to hear this! 😡😡💕💕💕
Bubble popping? GREAT. I only buy watches to wear and love them for many years. It’s nice that they hold decent value over time, but these things are not great asset investments.
Would you not pay over RRP for vintage? E.g a 16710 GMT from the 90’s?
DROP. DROP. DROP.
Nice video mate 🏌🏽♂️🥃
What's going on in the Muppet boiler room secondary grey watch market?
The secondary watchmarket is 💀
Is that you Papito?😂😂
floating face down in a pool!
Lollipop suckers and window lickers😂😂😂
Hi Brit. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on why the bubble won’t be coming back.
I’m learning a lot. Thank you!
Love your channel! Just wanted to encourage you.
There’s definitely been a big shift. The AD close to my work has all the hype Tudor models on display these days. 1.5 to 2 years ago, you’d be lucky to see a BB58 blue dial on a strap .
And the stores are deserted. Good to see. Let them close.
Everyone knows this was just a fad, sooner or later this would be over and things will go back to normal. Those ADs will be sorry for playing games, and treating long time collectors so badly now the dust has settled.
The only Omega I've every paid full retail for was the Snoopy 45th and 50th. All other Omega's I've purchased at a discount from the AD
How many watches have ypu bought previously in order to be offered the 45 and 50 at retail ?
Got my Snoopy recently. Bought NTTD, Speedy 57 amd AT 38. Also bought from same OB, the Speedy Tuesday few years back. But, all 4 purchases were something I want, not to build purchase history. Maybe partly as I couldve bigger discounts at AD.
For the 45th I had only purchased 1 watch prior but nobody knew that watch was going to be so hard to get. I purchased a couple more watches prior to acquiring the 50th @@michaelbishop9157
Agreed. At or below retail only. I want everything to crash so I can get something decent at a fair price.
I’ve recently bought a zenith skeleton, from a ad with a 1700 discount, from 9700 to 8000 👌
That’s crazy
Was offered the same discount for zenith.
I bought a Zenith defy primero 21 for 8100 euro
Hi Britt. Finally got my Air King at retail, a few weeks back, so yeah I think the bubble and associated waitlists (at least for most models) are over 👍Great for watch lovers, terrible news for flippers and the less interesting RUclips channels 😃
How long did you have to wait for it?
@@E.T.1971 Lucky situation for me… friend had been waiting for over a year, then got called for it, but decided he didn’t want to keep it, so sold it to me for retail.
Correct. Same with OPs.
List doesn’t mean selling price. Explorer 1 40mm is under msrp on dealer chat and moda
@@steven8628 Really? Well that's good to know. I was looking at WatchRecon. $9k
Great video, thank you for sharing. Missed watching you and your commentary.
Well Done ! Thank You !
As a collector who got all his hype pieces (Blue SkyD, white Daytona and aquanaut) at retail. Hell yes!! Finally. The prices and unobtainablility was just insane for collectors. Now retail prices today are just stupid.
The thing is, when is the right time to buy?
Anytime you've got the money and the watch you want is there for a price you're willing to pay.
@@fontyyythat’s clear, I meant when will be the prices be at a point where they won’t drop anymore?
Excellent video!
Definitely feel like I’m seeing the prices significantly down on group chats/grey market dealers I follow. Exciting times for watch fans who felt priced out the last 2/3 years.
new sub LOVE your honest input on some of this ridiculous expensive watches!
WoS had a lot of Omegas on sale in Jan at large discounts.
Talk about the bubble thing you mentioned. Can’t leave us hanging like that!
Nice video Gringa, thank you 🙂👍
I hope you are right. Ive been waiting to purchases a specific AP but will not pay over retail. I love what you said luxury vs need. 100% agree
Tried on a 36mm Explorer at an AD in London today and was told it was available to buy on the day. Thought this day would never come!
Omega in Australia has a consistent 10%-15% discount year round.
Another great video. So refreshing to see someone approach the watch market from a different angle 🙌
Fantastic video, greetings from Spain
I need a new Rolex market update thanks I noticed the Rolex is selling cheaper in the uk than America in wanted a gold day date yellow or rose do you think it’s time for me to jump on one or should I wait a little longer thanks
This is what happens when people treat 'everyday' items (albeit luxury) as if they were stocks and shares. If you follow my logic - now is the time to buy...just follow Rule No.1 of watch collecting....
Buy what you like.
Then even in the event of a fall in value you still have what you wanted on your wrist.
The prices of AP’s and PP were ridiculous! I picked up a 2nd had Rolex president and the guy said watches are now just not selling!
Where do I check prices graphs 📊?
Watch bubble is resetting and its unsustainable for the ridiculous price to be artificially inflated.
waiting almost 4yrs for a NDsub still sucks (well, my AD sucks)
Love your channel Brit.
Your awesome.
6:22 Lol 👍👍
🤣🤣🤣
Hi Britt,
Great videos love the channel just have some questions.
Surely it’s a benefit that your watches secondary value remains above RRP makes no difference to you? I only see it as a benefit ?
As you and I are part of the lucky ones who are able to purchase these very in demand watch’s at RRP.
I don’t get the thought process behind it ?
Question. Would you ever buy a watch over retail if you weren't in the fortunate position you are in where you don't have to do so?
Do you mean the Rolex AD would actually WELCOME me in the store? Oh man, I am going to enjoy playing with that…
Luxury watches and Porsche 911’s are both going through a big adjustment at the moment with prices dropping month on month.
I saw a steep and gold Daytona for sale .
Lovely Tank on toffee brown strap! I wear the same combination myself with a 2013 Solo XL.
Britt, when’s your review on the longines super compressor coming out ?!
How much
Great vid. No idea how you avoided knocking that glass of water over! 😂😂 Well played!
Great video. Now where was the omega on sale. Now it Hinksey am ready to buy. 😮
The fact that you are not willing to pay over list price on the grey market certainly doesn't make you "cheap". You have a lot of company.
Any thoughts on the Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy (50th)? I’ve been waiting since they were rumored to be released. Now, I hear that it may be discontinued. 😢
With omegas price increases they should be at 40% off retail before buying them. As someone that has Omega. They’re dreaming with their current retails.
good info...have u fully recovered?
