Correction for ammo capacity scaling mentioned at 42:46 - It doesn't scale on Agility, but Endurance and Vitality. The formula is floor((End + Vit) / 2 ) - 2 = Ammo Slots. e.g. Yours is floor((16+26)/2) - 2 = 19 Ammo Slots. I would feel very sorry for non-Agi builds out there if it only scaled on Agi. :P

This is an amazing video. I really struggle with these souls like games and haven't played them much before. While this game seems to have mixed reviews on steam i'm absolutely in love with it. The visuals, the fluidity and variety of the combat and the overall balance of difficulty for me just hits a sweet spot. The astral plane is such an awesome mechanic and while not the first time we have seen this it's definitely the first time in a souls like. I love the way it adds a different way to explore or find shortcuts. I love the risk / reward almost extraction style pressure of trying to get out before the timer runs out and i love that when you die you get this second chance. Your guide is incredible for someone like me who is not just new to this game but pretty new to trying to get into the whole grenre.

I heard the preacher is squishy to start, but once you get spells going you should have an easier time. I’m going Dark Knight (early unlock class or whatever it’s called) since it’s leveled from the start.

I played a lot of soulslike games and play a lot of huge rpgs, open worlds etc. Games with lot of complex features. started this one yesterday and it somehow was to much of all at once 😅 this thing with this umbrela world is confusing for me and there are so many mechanics at once somehow idk. Thank you! I'm new to souls like games, I usually avoid them on purpose after play dark souls 1 like if was like others rpg and choosed a mage... You can imagine my face when I went to the first boss and try to cheat hiddin in places to hit in the distance and it kills you in many ways and redo everything!. But I'm returning and try this one, I use a dark crusader and usually never play with melee clases so I'm having fun with Pieta ...xD. I made a preacher and I went much better but I can't be hit more than 2 times or I'm dead 😅
Do you get 50% STR for 2-handing a weapon, like in Elden Ring? I like 2-handing my spears rather than dual wielding them, so I'm wondering if I'm missing out on damage by choosing to 2-hand AGI-scaling weapons.
So if you parry and the wither damage takes you to zero do you die through it? Because that would be a good quality of life thing. It sucks being punished for good gameplay.
All I want to know is does it have the typical Unreal Engine shader compilation stutter? Does it precompile shaders before gameplay? Also does it have traversal stutter that is also typical of Unreal Engine games where crossing over certain lines in the game results in stutter as new part of the level loads in?
It should be much less with Unreal 5, because with Nanite object system, there is not really the concept of LODs. This comes at cost of higher memory use, but pop in shouldn’t happen and stutter should not either so long as you have the memory to support it.
@@mduckernz I have 32 GB of RAM and I want to see this magical Unreal 5 Engine game, that doesn't have pop-in and/or shader compilation stutter and/or traversal stutter. I have yet to see one. Even Lies of P which doesn't have shader compilation stutter nor traversal stutter, I can see pop-in at certain times.
Game is bugged for me. It won't go past the character name screen. I'm on PlayStation five. I've noticed a few people are having this problem. If someone finds a fix or finds out if they fix it please let me know

Dread is what causes the bar around the eye that shows up in Umbral to fill up. The more full it gets, the more dangerous enemies spawn. When totally full it turns red and you gonna die unless you escape really fast So, dread resistance makes that bar fill more slowly. That way you can spend longer in Umbral
On PC with M&K yes, but I don't think so on controller unfortunately. I'm not sure what alternative layout schemes there are yet. I personally hate having to hold down a button on the left stick, that behavior just leads to stick drift.
I hate when it's run + jump to jump :\ at least it's not on the dodge button right? That's what I LOATHE in DkS1 and BB lol. Glad DkS2 had at least the L3 option to jump as did DkS3.

i hate that a parry doesnt put the enemy into a repost state. choose one sekiro or darksouls but u cant use both. if your copying from the best then why change how the masters at fromsoft do it its silly. reminds me of calisto protocol , they tried sooooo hard to make it not dead space that it crash and burned so bad. if it’s not broke dont fix it. Lies of p stuck firmly to blood borne formula and stayed true to it.

Not necessarily because while it’s a souls like title I do feel the devs doing it a little differently helps to make it its own game and so the small tweaks or differences might sound bad now but once We play it I believe we’re gonna feel as though they actually made the right decisions and created an exceptional souls game
The more I play this game the less I like it. I am around 35 hrs in and lazy devs making you fight a boss and mobs at the same time is the worst mechanic ever.
The only thing that turns me off a bit is the attack animations. Sword swings lack style and flair and don't have much weight behind them. I'm still looking forward to this game, especially the no-nonsense coop.

The permanently retainable unless hit is new to my knowledge. But it’s still not exactly the brave new frontier of mechanics. The two worlds thing though…
“Proceeds to instantly mention the difference that makes this mechanic specific to lotf” - also there’s more to it like how blocking causes it and certain enemies in umbral, etc.

I’ve only played Remnant 2 and loved it. I want to play Elden Ring but got this instead so I can get experience with Souls-like combat.

This will be my first souls-like. Pretty excited to try multiple classes. Usually go with a paladin, berserker, or ranger type of build for mmorpgs

umbral reminds me of hex spells in DS2 where you needed both faith/int
The tinct system is a nice touch. Definitely something that is missing in other Soulslikes.

No, it keeps you at 1 hp and it's the same with blocking as long as the parry or block is successful.

There’s sockets in the lamp, that’s from my socket.

you take wither damage from perfect parry..... that's a terrible design decision
As long as you attack afterwards you will gain the health back.

this game went from "i want" to "we'll see" when i found out it had dlc classes on launch
u can unlock the special class in game aswell , so really not a huge deal

The two worlds isnt new either. Soul reaver was known for this mechanic and it was fun switching realms to find secrets and hidden paths.
