  • Q. What is a data model?
    Ans. A data model is an abstract model that organizes elements of data in a certain format. The data model decides the structure or the method of storing the data in the database. It also makes sure that the data is related to one another.
    The data model also makes sure how the DBMS will manage the data in the database that is how will the data be stored, accessed, or updated.
    Q.What are the types of data models?
    Ans. There are four types of data models
    1. Hierarchical model
    2. Network model
    3. Relational model
    4. Entity-relationship model
    In this video, we discuss the types of data models with examples.

    Thank you for your VERY clear and eloquent presentation. You have a VERY well-organized flow of conceptual logic, and clearly representative of depth of your knowledge. I have subscribed with the hope that you add to your videos, take your viewers to a journey of exploration of the recent advances in DB theory and implementation. Certainly it is a long journey when ordinary lecture series take on the task. I am certain you will invent a most efficient, yet rigorous road to this goal. My gratitude and admiration.

    Are there only 4? I see some sites have object-oriented, flat data model etc.

    • @ConstantLearners_AI_ML_CS
      @ConstantLearners_AI_ML_CS  2 года назад +1

      Yes there are more, but the most basic ones are these. For example, Object-oriented databases were built to overcome the drawbacks of RDBMS and give databases more strength and structure.

    If I may ask,, is there anything like object oriented database model please explain

    • @ConstantLearners_AI_ML_CS
      @ConstantLearners_AI_ML_CS  Год назад

      Yes there is OODM. But in this video I have only explained the basic database models. OODM is an advanced kind where data is stored in the form of objects. If you have learnt object oriented programming languages, it is easy to understand OODM also. In relational databases we could store only a single kind of data in tables. But in OODM we can store any form of data in the form of objects. And these objects are real world entities.

    Good Explanation
    P.S:- ERD relationship part I have got clear. in this example Doctor --> Duties --> Department "When it go like that his all operations related to that department will cover by one relationship. is it ok ?

    • @ConstantLearners_AI_ML_CS
      @ConstantLearners_AI_ML_CS  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much. I am glad the video could help.
      Yes you are right, the doctor's duties in that department will connect him to that department, because the doctor has duties in that particular department. So in the doctor's table and the department's table, some entries will be same like doctor's visiting hours, etc and thus establish a relationship between both. I hope I was clear.
