    Thanks for the review! I already have this lens for my X-T30, but I'm planning to sell it and get an X-T5, so it was nice to see how well the lens passes to that camera.

    I just bought this lens for my Sony a6500 an hour ago during Amazon's Prime Days sale for 103 bucks shipped. Insane.

    I have or had all three of 27mm f2.8 offerings from Fujifilm or TTartisans. Frankly I prefer the TTartisans model. Both the original Fuji and the WR one have slow noisy AF. The TTarstisans does not. The original Fuji feels the best built and the TTartisan and WR feel about the same despite the big asking price. I prefer the implementation of the aperture ring on the TTartisans compared to the WR despite the claims made by some channels on RUclips that the WR has a nicer one. WR on this type of lens is a bit pointless as the lens feels best on the smaller non WR bodies. The TTartisans is not a true pancake being slightly larger than the Fuji's, but I prefer that. The only downside is vignetting*, but I do not find it too bad as long as one never uses the pointless supplied lens hood where vignetting becomes awful. Tip, keep that lens hood for use on TTartisans 35mm f1.4 where it works really well.
    I have both the 25mm f2 also. To me they are completely different lenses, I like the 25mm as it provides just a hint of wideness whereas the 27mm is still definitely a standard lens in the look of images. Also of course being MF zone focusing can be used with ease on the 25mm and it feels like a nice, dense little thing. Pair it with its sibling the TTartisans 50mm f2 and you have a really nice, small 2 lens kit that covers most subjects well. Whereas I prefer the 27mm if I just want to carry one lens.
    *When shooting B&W I almost always add vignetting to photo's in post so for me this is not even a downside.

      I think the Fuji lenses are great lenses but at the prices they are selling for I just don’t understand how people are buying them! I saw a 27 WR sell for 800 AUD the other day which is utter lunacy!!
      The TTArtisan lenses have flaws sure but they are unbeatable value for money!

      Hello! Do you mean that having the lens hood mounted produces more vignetting?

      @rudermanphoto 4 месяца назад +1

      The griiix is going to be a much better quality lens, not to mention much more compact then this setup, but for sure get this lens and see if 40mm is suitable for you before spending the money on the griiix!

    I use this lens on an X-Pro1. 27mm in the optical finder offers nice bright lines, with enough space around the edge to anticipate figures entering the composition. Think 40mm lens in a 28mm viewfinder. To fill the optical frame, hold the lever and it flips to a magnified view. Combined with back button focus it's a very handy combo.

    Great review. Which one did you prefer the 25 f2 MF or the 27 f2.8 AF?

    • @rudermanphoto
      @rudermanphoto 6 месяцев назад +4

      I think if I was to pick one I’d probably get the 25 because it is just a bit more fun to shoot with. I like the close focus ability of it and because you are the one focusing it’s not hard to get most shots in focus, whereas with the 27 you are relying on its average autofocus.
      The 27 is technically superior in the corners but the 25 is just a really fun little lens and so cheap too!

    I've been looking at this one since my 27mm fuj died. I'd be whacking it on my XT1 which I think would be MUCH more forgiving compared to the XT5. It would make a great little street combo for me.
    Great review man. When you want to offload this lens, reach out ;)

    • @rudermanphoto
      @rudermanphoto 7 месяцев назад +2

      I think it’s a solid choice! Especially given how cheap it is, the XT1 sensor would do wonders with it, @alexbemenian has a video where he used it with an X-Pro 1 (same sensor) and the results he got were amazing!

    Would you recommend the 25f2 for beginners doing street photography or will it be to frustrating to learn how to shoot manual?

    • @rudermanphoto
      @rudermanphoto 3 месяца назад

      I think it would be awesome! It’s so cheap and honestly the best way to learn how to manually focus is to actually shoot with it! It’ll be hard at the start but use Fuji’s excellent manual focus assist tools like focus peaking and you’ll be so fine

    Do you think this lens suitable for hybrid usage, for street photography but also as a vlog lens?

    • @rudermanphoto
      @rudermanphoto 2 месяца назад

      It’s probably a bit too tight to use as a vlog lens - especially if filming yourself, and I don’t think the autofocus is really going to be good enough for that either - I’d probably get the 18-55 instead for a little more and use that, plus it’ll have OIS as well so perfect for filming yourself

    I have used this lens extensively. It is NOT good. The AF hit rate is very low and a lot of my photos miss critical focus even if I am shooting at 5.6 and in good light. Not recommended.
