Always.. My favourite album since I first heard it in 1992.. The most magical ethereally beautiful album ever recorded in the history of music in my opinion ❤️
it changed my life, there are other melodic albums but they don't reach this beauty. First 2 theatre of tragedy are the closest
Marike Groot - She seems to be so serious, focused. Her voice is sweet, I like it a lot. In the show they did in 2014, bringing together all the vocalists, I loved her presence, it's still the same.

Marike is so underrated
Bart had (and still does judging by the anniversary show) one of the best death growls out there. I remember hearing "In Sickness and Health" on a Peaceville sampler, back in 92 I believe, and being blown away and determined to find the full album! "Always" has been a top 5 album for me and "always" will be, thanks for helping make such a masterpiece!

@@TheSmartBits I adore and worship the Always album for the last 34 years because of the ethereal music and of course your voice.. There's something truly special about this album that no other band could ever possibly achieve.. I think it's something that only happens once in a lifetime when certain individuals come together at an exact time and create something purely magical.. It's destiny and fate.

W 92roku miałem 15 lat. Kasete mam do dziś , muzyka dalej piękna tylko My trochę starsi. Fajnie było zobaczyć że jako ludzie niczym się nie różniliśmy choć kraje dzieliła przepaść. Pozdrowienia z Polski...już nie tak dalekiej.
Jestem również z pięknego rocznika 1977 i również mam Always na kasecie. Ile bym dał, żeby przenieść się w tamten czas... Pozdro dla fanów Dobrej Muzy z tamtego okresu. Było tego dużo : Cemetery of scream, Sirrah, Paradise Lost, Type o Negative, Amorphis, MDB, Anathema ....

@@katkorn77 Mało teraz jakoś wartościowej muzy, ogólnie kicz. Zawsze wracam do staroci. Zapomniałem dodać Tiamat (ten wczesny nieźle wchodził, zwłaszcza The Astral Sleep, Clouds, Wildhoney... ) To z tej klimatycznej muzy... Sepultura, Pantera, Carcass, Bolt Thrower też często podsłuchiwanie. Jednym słowem: DOBRA MUZA ZAWSZE SIĘ OBRONI i tym samym nie odejdzie w zapomnienie. Pozdro 🖐️
Nie nie napiszę już więcej, tylko podziękuję za ten wpis - ta muzyka jest ze mną od początku jej wydania. I nadal zachwyca.

I just decided to search for content related to you and to this album, having discovered The Gathering early last year I think, and found I only particularly liked Always... and it turns out you've started releasing videos recently! Excellent!

Wow, it's so awesome to see this awesome album in the making -- thank you for sharing! 🙂 Always... is one of my all-time favourite albums. I love the cold, majestic atmosphere summoned by Frank's keyboard playing, Marike's mysterious and captivating vocals (fitting in unison with Bart's growling-style), and René and Jelmer's heavy, melodic harmonies -- which is what makes Always... an immersive masterpiece.
Also, I'm drooling over the studio gear: the Roland E-30 synthesizer, Roland R-5 (or is it R-8? I also wonder if the Roland drums were layered with the acoustic kit to give the drums a tighter sound) drum machine, and the Art ProVerb effects processor are the icing on the cake, haha. 😁
You're welcome! Frank is playing his E30, that was the only synth (or rather keyboard) he had. For the second album he got a Roland D-50. There were no drumcomputers used on the album, not even for layering. It's all real drums you hear. Except of course for the timpani on the "Always..." track, but that's also a preset from the E30. The R5 (I think you are correct on this one) was a unit from the studio, but not used on the album. Maybe for a clicktrack for Hans, but I'm not sure about that either.
Great video man, thoroughly enjoy your vocals and the album itself is such an innovation in extreme metal. Always will be one of those I can throw on and enjoy every listen

Only the album Immense Intense Suspense by Phlebotomized is of the same caliber as this album. Of course Phlebotomized is also a Dutch band.
From the same era : Death metal : Ceremony - Tyranny from above and Obtruncation - Sphere of the Rotting. All Dutch produce.
Hey remember Babylon Sad? They were from Switzerland and made a similar sound as Phlebotomized and The Gathering at this time. I enjoy the album they did

Ik luister Always nu nog steeds en ik vind hem nog steeds net zo geniaal als in 1992. Eerste optreden dat ik van jullie zag, was in Helmond in de Roadhouse. Zijn dat op het einde de ouders van Hans en René?

Had toen ik nog een kind was een demo cassette van Always en heb deze plat gedraaid. Deze was misschien nog mooier dan het uiteindelijke album en stond trouwens vorige jaar ofzo nog helemaal op youtube maar is helaas verwijderd😢.
Dit zijn opnames van de uiteindelijke cd zo te horen toch? Geweldig om te zien hoe er toen gebruik gemaakt werd van tapes en analoge apparatuur. 👌
Van Always is er niet echt een demo gemaakt (behalve dan de paar nummers op de Moonlight Archer demo en de 3 tracks die we voor een 7" opgenomen hadden), dus ik weet niet precies welke je bedoelt? Wat je hier ziet zijn inderdaad de opnames van Always, de uiteindelijke plaat, in de Beaufort studio in Bovenkarspel.

11:33 Nice shots with Han Swagerman Sr. himself. Nice to not only see but hear him. His producing works are one of my favorites in the whole metal genre, especially Phlebotomized and Always... His producing and his Beaufort Studio always were a Dutch seal of quality. And he seems such a pleasant man also.

@@TheSmartBits that´s really good to know! I kind of wish that, for example, Mandylion album was also recorded at Beaufort. I liked how the "In Motion 1" demo from the 2CD reissue sounded and I'd adore the album if it all could sould like this.
