Dont buy the S95C forr gaming, the hdmi 2.1 ports are capped at 40gbps instead of 48 which is not capped on the S90C. S90C is the way to go as it is definitively the most bang for buck tv you can get now during holiday offers.
Edit: This applies mostly for PC but when I did my research into which one to buy, people had blackout issues with ps5 and the s95c one connect box but seems to have been fixed now. If you are to use PC, then buy S90C and buy also a fibre optic hdmi 2.1 cable for 4k 144hz and VRR. I use both PC and Ps5 and S90C is having no problem running them!

On the subject of QD-OLED I'm really looking forward to CES so we can see what all the companies have been cooking up for 2024. I managed squeeze some more life out of my aging LG B7 and despite my desire to upgrade I couldn't decide on anything definitively in 2023. I can't imagine LG will manage to convince me to buy into their TV's again unless they drop the white subpixel. MiniLED's were great in 2023, but all the best ones seemingly had some downside to varying degree's that pushed me back to OLED. There's a part of me that wants to hope beyond all hope that Samsung has managed to procure Blue PHOLED for their 2024 panels, just as LG was able to get MLA earlier than was expected. If I recall MLA wasn't supposed to hit until 2024, but they got it out for 2023. So while Blue PHOLED is ready, it isn't expected until 2025, but who knows perhaps a miracle will happen and we'll have it for 2024.

I am glad that I bought S90C, instead of S95C. And I feel that I would have regretted spending so much for almost non-existent differences. Instead I bought a nice Q800c soundbar for the remaining money. So, even emotionally one can regret overspending as much as underspending.

Same here, I bought the 77' S90C on purpose because I wanted the full 48Gbps of HDMI bandwidth and didn't want the risk of having blackouts at 4K 144Hz like many S95Cs do. I think that until Samsung fixes the OCB HDMI problems, the S95C is actually a downgrade vs the S90C with a 2nd gen panel. Specially if you have a HT (audio is garbage in both models, anyways). BTW, it's extremely easy to turn the S90C into a S95C in the service menu to get the same top brightness, as both panels are actually the same (if 2nd gen). I did it, but the difference is negligible, tbh.

Same, but I actually bought an LG soundbar, the S80Y. The bass and sound is so much better. I tried a Samsung sound bar, but it was too tiny and lacked bass. Also, the changes like bass and treble barely made any noticeable differences.
Look for the S90C with the second gen panel guys. It'll say FB03 on the sticker on the side of the box itself.

100% s90c! I decided to buy one Black Friday as you just can’t beat the value vs performance. Hands down best model right now esp at 65 inch. Best price for such a great performing TV. Especially if you’re gaming!
One thing I was surprised by is the Samsung only supports atmos and DD passthrough but NOT DTS. Not a big deal if you have a receiver that does it with an 8K port input that supports all the gaming features and 4K/120. Then just connect console to the receiver and get DTS and all the gaming features for video over eARC. Best of both worlds!
Connecting consoles to TV works fine if you are fine with just atmos or DD. If you want the DTS support though, just know you will need a receiver with HDMI 2.1 8k support.
Aside from a couple software bugs it has been an amazing TV and great picture. Love it and the colours and black levels are great and HDR bright etc.
Speaking of bugs: if you are using ARC receiver that doesn’t have eARC, make sure to turn earc support OFF on TV and not leave to auto or you will get major audio latency. I finally fixed it. It was like a second late after video. Bad.
Additionally, gaming mode features may appear greyed out when left in auto. Make sure to switch it to ON at least once and then back to auto and all the options will be available.
Don’t think you can do better for your money for the s90c and can’t go wrong!!
Happy New Year all!! May it be successful, bring you and your family good health and joy and happiness. Cheers!

I wanted to future proof myself as much as I could, sure I could have gotten a 65' S90C but I knew that S90C was just basically 2022's screen repackaged as 2023 model, so I bit the bullet and went ahead with S95C. For what it is worth, there is one early benefit of ATSC 3.0, although it is dependent upon use case and local reception. The transmitters have higher broadcast power and can have longer reach for those watching over the air broadcasts. This is still dependent upon transmission location and local topology, so your mileage may vary. In our case, we now get all the main stations in the Seattle area reliably, prior to the purchase of our Samsung S90C, two key stations were spotty at best, more often just MIA. Maybe in a few years 4K transmission will show up as an added bonus.

All into TV and ARC to AVR is the best solution from a technical standpoint. One point about my AVR that solved a bit of grief was turning off auto-standby when idle too. This made sure the receiver turned on when the TV turned on, and only turned off when the TV did. For family use I'd want to head off any potential "there's no sound!" confusion.

Yes as long as you don’t want DTS to passthrough. This TV will convert sources using DTS to DD or Atmos which was a surprising detail. I want to be able to use dts as my receiver supports it. You can’t even pick it from xbox when connected to TV port.
So that means if you want all the gaming video features you need a receiver with a 8k port that supports 4K/120.

The owner of the Kuro plasma TV, Jon Accamondo, also seems to be interested in LONGEVITY when choosing his next TV. I think he may want to consider that neither the Samsung S90C nor the Samsung S95C may last as long as the Kuro plasma TV that he's still enjoying. While my own experience is an admittedly "small sample size", I'll mention that I have owned 2 flagship Samsung TVs and both of them have needed repairs. I have come to suspect that although Samsung TVs have great picture quality they might not be built with the best components, and may tend to break down sooner. With that in mind, I'd probably be cautious and buy the lower-priced S90C, or invest in an entirely different TV brand like LG or Sony which may last longer.

If I purchase an extended warranty it increases the amount I've invested in the TV (and I hate the hassle of repairs and replacements). Hey just let u know it’s Actually--NOT OLED OLED.
It’s called QD-OLED. 50 mini led, 50% OLED. So the Traditional OLED like LG c1 C2 C3 Sony A90K A80L A95J etc. they are significantly inferior.
Because ppl do NOT know what is QLED, or MINI LED. So Samsung was afraid that ppl think Mini LED is”infer” as false perception. So they Categorized calling QD-OLED as “OLED” as markeing . So ppl draw conclusions it’s Premium.
Kinda like GAS car vs Hybrid. D S90C is NOT an OLED OLED. It’s only nice cuz it’s half Mini LED. It’s a Hybrid. 🎉 since it’s Half Mini LED. They could easily Brand it as “mini LED” but Just Higher Tier. But they decided to put in OLED category because ppl are Biased to see OLED as better.

The correct answer is S90C. Unless you actually need the one connect box.
If your buying a 55/65" wait for clearance to ensure a second gen panel. Or look for one with a model FB03 on the box. At least for 65" that appears to be the closest you can get to increasing your odds of a second gen panel.
For 77" it's S90C all day long as they are all second gen panels.

I have slight burn in on my Dell XPS laptop from windows elements (the screen that led Samsung to make QD OLEDs as it's searing bright in full window (I measured 1,000 nits no dimming) and will of course burn in) and I had to switch colors to dark and auto-hide the taskbar.
It could be fixed with pixel refresh but laptops don't have that and I only see it in very few scenes and it's almost offscreen so it's okay. Do the games allow to change the colors of the hud? They should actually offer a darker hud.

❤❤both amazing choices. I HAVE SEEN both in store IN person. And I am picky cuz I have had $4000 TVs. N I have 2 HIsense FLagship. I get it they are not OLED but very close. Like the S95C. Has Significantly BETTER COLOR than G3.
The brighter the TV gets. The HIGHER Color Volume A tv NEEDS. So when they projecting the Mid range shades, like bright trees. Flowers…etc. they will look more solid color vs a tint feel.
The G3,,its great, that to ppl USED to use OLED…C1 C3 C3, SONY A90J, they will be WOW. Cuz those TVs are in SUCH low color volume n pestle. They see G3 is”vibrant”. However if u are USED to Samsung , Hisense …HIGH luminance RICH but butter fluid colors. U see something off about G3. Like for example if u see sports stadium, the red outfits look Water melon ish. The yellow outfits look lemon. The blue n Green bright outfits lok more like a tint transparent . N the ORange banner look kinda weak not solid color.
The SAles ppl will keep trying to use “black black” look “high contrast”. MOST images are NOT A color against a Black. It’s more like a color of own shade transition from bright to dim. D MOST solid the Color looks the more 3D it looks. Or a Color transtion to Diff color. So the highlight n Color volume are MORE important that “color accuracy” or black …the S95C is Absolutely nicer than G3. 😊

So I was thinking of purchasing the 77 A95L. But at double the price of a 77 S90C, I am torn. But then I just saw some videos about the NVIDIA Super Resolution feature that does an amazing job with upscaling. I am a programmer and am running a 3090 (lots of opened programs and 3-5 virtual machines running). So let’s say I dedicate the card to nothing but watching low bitrate contents, like RUclips. Considering the A95L and S90C use the same QD-OLED panels, should I just buy the S90C (77) and watch my you tube contents via my computer connected to the S90C and let the NVIDIA Super Resolution feature improve the upscaling instead of the Samsung processor? In summary, I would think a $1500 video card would do better at upscaling than an XR processor. Is there more in the XR processor than what the 3090 can accomplish the same. Oh, and by the way, I am also have a Gig Internet connection if that matters.

Wry much disagree on plugging in directly to tv and using eARC when you have an AV receiver. Maybe it’s just LG, but I spent hours fighting audio delay issues in these setups, as well as sometimes not being able compass certain audio types. Everything but basic items to av receiver. Done.

  • @daneg
    @daneg 8 месяцев назад

Regarding the AVR and TV hookup question, I'm not sure Caleb's answer is quite accurate. Obviously the specific AVR and other hardware matters, but whether you plug into the AVR or the TV is irrelevant to the number of cables going to the TV. That's really what caused me to write this reply.
Some specifics from my own experience: I have an LG C2 TV and a Denon 3800 9.4/11.4. I can plug my PS5, Series X, or Roku Ultra directly into either the AVR or the LG C2, and it will turn them all on/off. However, Roku does not currently have any official control for Denon, and while it officially can control LG TVs, it doesn't seem to want to control volume via CEC (it does this just fine with Hisense and TCL TVs in the same room). It does however have IR codes for LG. So technically, it's a mess regardless of whether you plug directly into the TV or the AVR.
If you only have the one TV in your room, then you're fine with IR controls (in my case; this all depends on your specific hardware). If you have 6 Roku devices in your room, and you want to control everything via IP and CEC, then relying on IR is...not going to work as you'll be turning one TV on while trying to open the menu on another, etc.
Anyway, if you have a modern TV and a modern AVR, even the cheaper new stuff (e.g.) Onkyo 5.2 setups, you're going to have one touch control with your (e.g.) Roku remote...probably without even having to setup the remote at all. Personally, I find it easier to plug into the receiver than the TV, and doing this allows you to manipulate the audio sync a little better, imo. Remember: you can delay the audio to slow it down for the video, but I've never seen that option the other way. If you plug into your TV, the audio could be behind the video, and you cannot speed up the audio or slow the video. But you can delay the audio so that it doesn't out pace the video if you're going through the AVR first. FWIW, I have not had audio sync issues working with the Onkyo/C1 or the Denon/C2 in either direction. But sometimes a Plex feed does require some audio syncing. And sometimes OTA signals are out of sync as well.

"I don't plan on using the AVR all the time"- Why??? Use it all the time even when not watching TV...
Don't worry about it going bad - it will become obsolete before it goes bad and you want it to go bad during the warranty as they are not repairable outside the warranty because the cost of the repair is usually more expensive than the AVR itself or parts are intentionally not available forcing you to buy a new one.
The problem is that AVRs can sound ridiculously bombastic and loud in a living room as I'm finding out with the newer AVRs that replaced my old AVR. It's really hard to tame the sound nowadays despite all the curves that you can apply.
Make sure you can dial the volume on the sub down easily like SVS with an app...

I use the AVR as a device switcher and keep the tv on the same input.

ATSC 3.0 will remain broken forever because instead of choosing a free audio codec they were lobbied into using one that needs a license and now the license holder, Dolby, is squeezing companies for money. Could have been avoided by using a free audio codec. But when you have Oren Williams, a dolby executive, making the decision on how audio should work with your new ATSC standard, well the needs of the company he works for are weighted a little heavier than the need to have a free open way to broadcast a tv to the masses.

On the subject of S90C vs S95C... I think there is more to look at. If you want a 55 or 65", well... I would lean towards the S95C. It is guaranteed to have the new panel, which is less prone to burn-in. Since the one asking is still using his Kuro, I guess he wants to use the TV for a very long time. Also I guess it helps having the electronics in a separate box. Should they fail... replace the box, keep the panel. The S90C MIGHT have the new panel... but it's a lucky draw.
Now, if it is the 77", they always come with the new panel, so the S90C is a safe bet.
If the one asking is a gamer however, I would lean towards the S90C. 48 Gbps support vs 40 Gbps makes it more future proof.
Now, for me... if 77" would have worked in my space, I would have bought the S90C. But that was too big for my peripheral vision, so a 65" S95C it is. I'm happy with it.

Samsung would be extremely dumb to do so anyway, as those TVs wouldn't be able to match the official specifications and this would be a massive PR disaster that is completely unnecessary... besides opening them up to legal issues as well.
Yes, several hundred dollars is better than getting the same part AND paying for getting the TV torn apart to replace the parts. Plus the risk. Plus transportation. etc. Even though the box may be more expensive than the spare parts alone I think avoiding all the hassle is worth it.

I own 2 Sammys and two Sony televisions. I live in NYC and about 2 months ago OTA broadcasts changed. On my Sony's, CBS is now broadcasting 1080p HDR AC-4 and NBC is now broadcasting Dolby Vision /Dolby Atmos. It takes about 5 seconds to tune in those channels. Also on Sundays, CBS loses signal ( no antenna connected message) very often during NFL games ONLY. All other programs have no signal loss. As far as i know, my Sony televisions dont have NextGen tuners, so why the change? My Samsung's still broadcast at 1080i on CBS and NBC via OTA antenna.

The S90C is better in almost every aspect. The build quality alone is better than the S95C, the S95C feels cheap every time you touch it, when the S90C has a metallic frame all around it, it's more stable, more eye peeling overall, and cheaper as well. Just go for the S90C and you'll be fine. Even the specs are better on the S90C and literally it gives you the impression that Samsung cannibalises it's own top tier tv for some reason.

So wait, if you have a nicer AVR which has 4+ HDMI 2.1 ports, why would it be better to plug into the TV instead? Seems to me both options should offer the same results (assuming the video processing of the AVR isnt garbage). For reference, something like the Samsung Mini Led QN90C and Denon X3800H AVR. I currently have this setup and have just a single HDMI cable going from my TVs eARC to the Monitor Out on the Denon for eARC and the devices onto the Denon AVR (not the TV) so trying to understand. Thanks and happy new year all

I'd rather have the 4x HDMI 2.1 ports on the TV rather than rely on an AVR. I have the QN95C 85" paired with my Denon AVR S970H, and I had a horrible time getting my XSX working with one of the three HDMI 2.1 ports. My Xbox would constantly switch back to 4K60, and it would tell me notify me that 4K120 wasn't supported. Luckily the QN95C has 4x HDMI 2.1 ports so I plugged my Xbox directly into the TV. I have my gaming PC, PS5, and XSX connected directly to the TV. 4K144Hz is amazing! No issues whatsoever.

@@Nwordplzplz interesting. I just got a xbx for Thanksgiving and have no issues. Did you enable the 'enhanced 4k' or whatever it's called for that port of the avr in the setup? It's needed to tell it it's 4k120 or 8k60.

@@theroachmotel Yup! I enabled enhanced HDMI, and I tested out different cables, but the issue remains. My receiver is running the latest firmware as well. I'm glad I don't solely rely on HDMI 2.1 passthrough like most people do with non LG or Samsung TVs.

I really like samsung but I am thinking about returning it and buy a A80l Sony. is it worth it ? will it be better or is it just washed of money? please help me I feel lost and I been researching and thier are definitely 2 sides on this matter. happy new years

      @Hypo11111 8 месяцев назад

Have you tried turning off all those settings? Like game motion plus or auto motion plus etc. you can find articles to help turn those off
Otherwise if you have audio latency and are using receiver or soundbar with ARC only and not eARC, make sure to turn eARC mode to off on tv and do not leave on auto. This caused almost a second of audio latency for my setup. OFF meant that ARC still worked but no latency!
Good luck I am sure you can get this to your satisfaction. It’s a great TV! Don’t return it!

Since tv manufacturers keep on taking one of the HDMI 2.1 for eARC I am wondering Does eARC need 2.1 hdmi or can it be HDMI 2.0 to work ?.

    • @Hypo11111
      @Hypo11111 8 месяцев назад

eARC should work fine on hdmi 2.0. It just won’t have 4k/120 capability since that requires higher data rates than what 2.0 can do. And I don’t think you’ll get the gaming features but I could be wrong. Like ALLM, QFT, variable refresh, etc. I think you can still do 4K/60 on hdmi 2.0 and pass through lossless uncompressed audio. Although the TV cannot pass through DTS it will convert to DD or atmos but I don’t have an earc receiver yet to see if 5.1 or 7.1 uncompressed bitstream may work better. I think the TV will still convert it.
As long as your video settings don’t surpass 18 Gbps data rates you will be fine. Search hdmi bandwidth calculator and plug in your variables to see how much it will use. For example you can do 4k/120 with 4:4:4 chroma sampling and 10-bit HDR on hdmi 2.1 only (40 Gbps port). Whereas you can only do 4:4:4 with 8-bit on a 4K/60.
