I think the reason that Sunny’s eyes are closed when he fights in the rw is because he’s trying to escape to headspace while awake and being afraid distracts him
You can defeat SOMETHING. But you can’t outright destroy it. the SOMETHING for Basil and Sunny are representation of their trauma. Trauma lingers. Basils SOMETHING just retracts into his head, while Sunny’s SOMETHING fades away. Trauma just doesn’t disappear.
Basically the idea is Sunny's something still appears behind him in Basil's room (before the fight with him) and only disappears in the special cutscene so it's still alive Source: I'm a dev of the mod
