    This is the New redesigned and updated Kreepy Krauly by Pentair (Model 360040). If you have a Vinyl or Fiberglass pool you will need (Model 3060042) as it has a Pleated or Flat Seal.
    Where to buy this cleaner: www.swimmingpoo...
    This is actually the first real overhaul of the cleaner since its inception. There have been over 3 million Kreepy Krauly cleaners sold Worldwide making it one of the most recognizable cleaners on the Market. My customers refer to their cleaner as Kreepy Krauly even if it is not one.
    I though I would be retired before Pentair remodeled their flagship cleaner. The version previous works great in the pools they are in so I figured they wouldn't mess with it. I'll be honest the old version was sometimes a hard sell since it did look dated. The new version just looks spectacular.
    From the color scheme down to the sleek new style it is a great looking cleaner. It will sell just on how cool it looks. But of course the other selling point and one that is more valid is that this cleaner is a Beast. It will pick up large debris that other cleaners won't even attempt to pick up. It also is designed to cover the entire pool when set up correctly. All in it is a design that really works.
    I will point out a few of the things I really like about the new unit. First, the cleaner itself is made out of a harder plastic that by the looks of it is very durable. The Kreepy already had parts that lasted forever so I expect this new one to have even more durable parts. The Seal plate is extra thick so it will also last longer.
    I like the new bumper. The Kreepy Krauly Classic works great but the bumper would sometimes not pull the cleaner out of the step area. This one has no issues and is designed to help the cleaner out of tight spots. Plus it looks very durable.
    I really like the adjustable Dive Float. One of the problems with the Kreepy Krauly is that it works too well. It would sometimes come out of the pool or get stuck on the hose coming out of the Side Port or Skimmer. Now you can simply adjust the Dive Float down to prevent that.
    The cleaner also comes with a generous amount of hoses, Twelve one Meter hoses or almost 40 ft of hoses.
    Suffice to say this is a great improvement over a cleaner that really didn't need to be improved. I highly recommend the New Kreepy Krauly.

    Recently bought this Kreepy and it works great, doesn't get stuck on steps or corners like my older, smaller one. I probably run it too much, it covers so much area in a given time I should stop it after about an hour and a half. Thanks for the review, I can tell the Big Man needs some ice cream...... Just sayin.

      As a follow up, about a month ago my Kreepy was tangling up the hose and wouldn't stay stuck to the bottom. I've bought the swivel bc I found this as a suggestion to fix the problem and it made sense. I gather it's a snap out snap in part but once I got the top manifold off it doesn't seem to be built that way.
      This being a 2013 model is there a newer model that might hold up better in what must be a rough surface gunite pool? It might not be the 360046 that's designated for the gunite surface and don't know how to tell. Probably different plastic on the contact components? I've replaced the rubber pleated part bc it was worn and it was having a problem staying against the pool. It would float 10-12 inches just off the bottom. That seemed to help but it doesn't work as well as when I first installed it. The Swivel manifold from Pentair is like $300+ which is kind of ridiculous bc you can buy the whole unit knew for that one part.
      It's been working great up until then.
      Thanks for carrying that torch, you and the Big Man do a great job.

    Great videos! Very informative and straight forward. I have an old Creepy Crawly and it doesn't move around the pool well. Seems to be getting stuck because the hose twists and gets bound but not kinked. Any suggestions? I use the suction side to draw the debris into the Skimmer Basket.

    My current pool is a large 5ft deep concrete pool with multiple steps and seats. I have a 2010 Kreepy Krauly which wore out in 3 years (e.g., keeps getting stuck at steps, and other and wore holes through the body and wore out the floats). I have replaced the swivel head, the bottom float string, the footpad, and the seal and it is now wore through the tube. I was going to buy a new one, but Pentair tech rep recommended the Sandshark. I am not sure that is the right answer. Also, we have a solar cover and the sandshark instruction manual says not to use with a solar cover. We have lots of leaves, acorns, pine cones, pine needles, twigs, etc. Also, the pentair rep said that it should be taken out of the water when not in use, but we have always left it in the pool indefinitely (big hassle to take in and out all the time). So my three questions are which cleaner do you recommend, does it work with a solar cover, and do you recommend taking the cleaner out when not in use?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  10 лет назад

      I would recommend the"Poolcleaner" by Poolvergnuegen in your case. It will not get stuck anywhere in your pool and is better then the Sand Shark. Another Kreepy would have the same problems as there are a small percentage of pools where the Kreepy or other bouncing type cleaners will not be effective. The . I leave the cleaner in all the time except when I am swimming with a large group. The "poolcleaner" is a geared cleaner like the Sand Shark but better in all respects.

    I've had three Kreepies over the last thirty years. my current Kreepy works better in warmer water, but not at all in cold water?? Ometjhimes by shaking very hard it might start up....but not usually...very aggrevating to see it set idle all day!! I've tried all of the solutions, nothing works! I wouldn't recommend it, there must be a better unit out there?? Jack Myers

    Hi. Thanks for all the great and informative videos. I'm new to this pool stuff and all your videos are very helpful. A friend of mine just had a pool built and needed to upgrade his pool cleaner from the small one included with the pool build so he gave me his kreepy krauly..SCORE!.. But when I installed it, it just sat there. Suction worked but no vibes and no movement like I see in the videos. I read up on it and it says you need a .75 HP pump or higher. What a bummer.. I have an old .5 HP Pentair Whisperflo pump. Well my questions are, Have you seen one work with this size pump? And are there Auto cleaners that work with my size pump?... Im seeing a pool system revamp in my future $$$$.

    Hi Frank. I had an old kreepy krauly. I have a pear shape pool. The key frustration I had is the unit failed to do the entire pool. I played with the amount of hose I used, but it would seem to develop the same pattern of doing just the deep end. I did play with the return water flows as well to direct. What is typically the problem here? Thanks.

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 2 года назад

      The distribution of the weights on the hose is another adjustment that will change the pattern of vacuuming. On some pools it’s as simple as swapping which skimmer provides suction. On other pools just adjust the balance of suction between the skimmers (main drain completely OFF). Great cleaner once all the initial adjustments made.

  • @karenfal8448

    Hi question, i'm not sure the exact model vacuum I have it might be a Derby that hooks into the skimmer. anyway all of a sudden there's no suction and it's not moving around the pool. It usually makes a clicking noise too. I checked for clogs and there don't seem to be any holes in the hose, so any ideas what's wrong? thank you

How can I change the direction of the wall mount air direction? Also, I purchased the collection bag. When I put it on, the KK stops moving. Any suggestions? Having to use my skimmer to connect the hoes to. All floating debris is just floating around the pool, not going any where. Please help. Thanks.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  2 года назад

      It does pretty good with those. The seal will get under the rock or acorn and it will be sucked in. It doesn't need to get the debris directly under the mouth to work.

    Great! Thanks for a great review. I am a fan of Kreepy Krauly too. I have a general question which might be a little elementary. Now, the regular pool filter system uses the skimmer baskets to filter large debris such as rocks, acorn, etc. Vaccuum systems such as Kreepy Krauly just sucks up everything to the pool filter (without going through a skimmer). Would this be a problem? You use a leaf canister and me too, but this doesn't seem to be a standard requirement/accessory for these systems. So do the manufacturers expect folks to just use them as is and let the debris all go thru the filter?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  10 лет назад

      Yes and no. Pentair does sell something called a vac-mate. It works so-so. But I know of a small company that has a product soon to solve this problem. Product should be out within a month and I plan to film it for my Channel. Sit tight ;).

    I know no one has the answer to this, but maybe someone could give me their best guess. I have a unique pool that uses no chemicals - a natural pool. The shape and materials of my pool are traditional (rectangular and pretty smooth plaster). One thing about natural pools is that you get a microscopic layer of biofilm on the plaster which makes it slippery. I have had an expensive pool cleaner with scrubbers and wheels and all the whistles for two years, but it fails to climb the wall or even much of the incline of the pool. Sadly a waste of money. Even sadder, my pool is not clean. Will this Krauly climb the walls if the walls are slippery? I have read a few posts about these Kraulies not climbing walls. If it's an issue in a traditional pool, slippery walls might be an even bigger issue. Your help is greatly appreciated.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  6 лет назад

      Instead of this cleaner that is heavy by design and my struggle with what you describe, try the Zodiac Ranger. It is very light and works great in Fiberglass and Vinyl pools which have very slippery walls. It is $160 online so a small investment but I think you will be surprised with how well it will work. It is perfectly fine for inground pools - zodiac just has it listed for above ground pools mainly to push people to the G3 cleaner. I have them on my route in regular plaster pools. As a side note, wondering if you are using a UV system at your pool?

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 2 года назад

      @@davidgarza77 After you clean dirty filters the suction will increase dramatically. Your 2 year old foot plate is likely worn down smooth so now the suction has the unit drawn flush against the pool floor and unable to move. Just replace the foot plate
      as he originally advised.
      It’s also posting that you have debris jamming the flapper - even a small segment of a twig can occasionally find its way in there. Remove the screw the holds on the bottom cover and free the flapper.

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 2 года назад +1

      @@mypinkrabbit You can fix this yourself with just a screwdriver. When the unit is removed from the pool the flapper should move freely when you shake the unit up and down. If it’s stuck just remove the bottom foot plate to expose a single screw. Once unscrewed the cover and flapper come right out (and the debris as well). This fix takes only 2 minutes once you see how the device works - there’s only one moving part (flapper)

    • @SPL
      @SPL  10 лет назад

      The price is about the same as for the New Kreepy Krauly & the G2. I guess the deciding factor is the debris type and if the cleaner will be connected to a side port. Large debris I would go with the Kreepy. It does make some noise as it cleans but both are good cleaners. Are you using a sideport or your skimmer to connect?

    • @Icy_Igloo
      @Icy_Igloo 10 лет назад

      Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 The cleaner will connect to the skimmer. As for debris, we have a large Eucalyptus tree overhanging the pool. The tree leaves are not that large, but they are quite firm and tough and don't bend too easily. Hence, they can get stuck sometimes.

I did that but sometimes when it climbs the ridges and it falls off, it sinks BUT it sometimes doesn't sink right down and starts vacuuming, it floats like an inch above the floor surface and just stays there not moving at all, what is the issue with this? do i need to move the weight closest to the vacuum or the one farther away from the vacuum? and if so, how much? thank you.

      what I meant to say was the leaves get stuck in the business end hammer part of it. I've had to clear it about 8 times on the first day... i have a lot of leaves but they are no more than 1-2 inches... (it's not like the pool is black with leaves) but i didn't expect to be clearing the mechanism every few minutes. I purchased the "XtremepowerUS Automatic vacuum Kreepy Krauly" It had good reviews on Amazon, but if you say the Pentair KK is that much better, I will return it. I just want it to pick up leaves and sediment w/o my constant help... i have a 1.5hp pump and a 10 x 30ft with 8ft at its deepest end "peanut shell" shaped pool (not sure what to call it). I have an American Titan D.E filter(cleaned thanks to your video). thanks again.

      If you have 1 1/2" threaded return lines you may want to invest in a return side cleaner. Let me know if your pool is set up this way. The Pentair Rebel or Hayward PoolCleaner do a great job with leaf debris. But nothing beats a return side cleaner.

    • @davidf8752
      @davidf8752 7 лет назад

      so...I do have a 1.5in. return line, but turns out I had a lot of black dust at the bottom of the pool. 2 out of 3 return lines are at the shallow end, and upon inspection, were spitting out dark particles. (almost like anything the kk scooped up was being spit back out). however the filter did clear the pool which had clowdy water. I'm pretty sure what the answer is, but is it safe to say I have a hole in the d.e. filter? (the filter has been taken out, cleaned and filled with d.e. less than 30 days ago)
      thanks again

      The good thing about these bouncing type cleaners is that it touches the surface with the footpad which means it will pick up algae very well as long as it is not aggressive algae. You will see it leaving streaks as it cleans the pool - very efficient.

    I ordered a 360040 (concrete) on Amazon and they shipped the 360042 (vinyl, fiberglass) instead. While I await their response on an exchange, do you know if there is any difference outside the seal? If I just ordered the flat seal would I be good to go?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  10 лет назад

      I doesn't make a huge difference. The one you got grips better in a fiberglass pool. I have the same model as you received in my plaster pool and it works fine. But amazon.com is great on exchanging if you need too. I personally like the 360042 better as the seal is thicker. But that is up to you.

    How you adjust the speed on this kreepy krauly

    • @SPL
      @SPL  10 лет назад

      It comes with a self adjusting skimmer insert - however you might still have too much suction depending on your pool set-up. In that case you might need a more adjustable skimmer insert. For the pool side port it is easy -just adjust the suction accordingly with the valve.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  9 лет назад

      ChrisXCXCX No idea what the 360048 model is for. The 42 has a pleated seal for vinyl and fiberglass pools and the 40 is the standards starfish seal for plaster pools. I personally like the 42 for all pool types as that finned disk last longer.

    Does the Kreepy Krauly work well in free form pools? My local pool store tried to talk me out of purchasing one based on this premise.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  10 лет назад +1

      Rarely will it have any issues.So 98% it will be fine. The only time I see any problems is if the steps are at a strange angle in the pool. I one now in my pool and it is free form with the steps facing straight in the shallow end and I have no issues. Wonder what they were trying to sell you instead?

      Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 Thanks for the response! He was trying to sell me the MX-8 Instead. He said it wouldn't get hung up on the curves of my pool. My pool is shaped like a disproportionate kidney. MX-8 looks to be a great cleaner as well - I've watched your reviews of that one too. That being said, it's fairly more expensive than the Kreepy Krauly.

      ***** I think the Kreepy Krauly is fine. Plus it is under $300.00. Parts are long lasting and durable. MX-8 parts wear out quickly. The New MX-6 is better and has less parts - plus it is around $280.00 online if you are leaning that way.

    I always loved Kreepy Krauly for the pool.
    But this machine is rubbish.
    My pool is a bit rough and the Kreepy wore through the footpad, the big pleated disc and bumper strap in its life here.
    Besides this, the Kreepy is terrible at handling the leaf load of my pool in autumn. The side wings block with leaves so quickly.
    The debris test here is not accurate as the debris has to actually make its way to the flapper to go through.
    Thoroughly disappointed in this machine.
    I have a Zodiac G3 since the Kreepy and it hasn't worn out nearly as quickly plus it is better at gobbling up the leaves here in autumn. Yes it can block but not nearly as often.

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 2 года назад

      Instead of raking up your leaves your gardeners are letting them blow into pool. ha! With that many leaves in Autumn you may just need to use a manual leaf skimmer once or twice a week. You have clearly exceeded the unit’s capacity during that season.

    I purchased this product and thought that it would do the job. Boy was I wrong! The cleaner does not sit on the bottom of the pool correctly and sucks mindlessly. I have to come and push it down all the time so that it can vacuum the pool. The distributor was not very helpful and passed me off to Pentair tech support. After dealing with several Pentair tech support individuals they were clueless as to solve my problem and were not interested in helping me. My 12 year old daughter has more intelligence than their tech support. I would not recommend this product or similar products from them.

      It sounds like your pool has too much suction. Is the cleaner connected to the skimmer by chance? Some pools will have just too much power for the Kreepy Krauly. I've run into that many times out there. There are a few solutions for that. If you care to watch another video you will see me connect a Zodiac Flow Keeper to one Kreepy Krauly with your symptoms to get it moving. The video is dealing with closing the pool main drain thus causing too much skimmer suction. They also sell an expensive skimmer device called a vac-mate but in your case your pool might just have too much suction even for that. Anyway the video shows you some tricks to solve your particular problem. As far as Pentair Tech Support - I've talked a few that knew what they were talking about - but yeah - it is hit and miss sometimes...

    I have been running this for a few days now and I am starting to realize I just wasted $300 dollars on a piece of junk. First, I don't know who in their right mind throight the noise from this cleaner would be tolerable. It's sounds like an idling motorcycle and can be heard across my half acre property with LA background noise. I am afraid it will drive my pets nuts. It drives me nuts! Second, it gets stuck every 5 minutes and needs to be pushed to a new position. It gets stuck on the steps and in the slope of my pool. It sometimes lays down and can't get up. You cannot run this unsupervised and expect it to clean your pool. Good news nothing escapes that goes under the machine. It also seems to hammer away at the plaster and really "scrub" the dirt off (that explains the noise). It's simple. Nothing to program. Sleek looking. Piece of junk.

    • @drdrew3
      @drdrew3 2 года назад

      It’s only that loud when suction is excessively high. Just decrease suction to skimmer where it is attached until it’s a just a gentle tapping sound and unit moves steadily forward. Once you adjust properly it won’t get jammed or be noisy. This is a one time adjustment but you skipped this step

    • @robinpetersson3081
      @robinpetersson3081 2 года назад

      @@drdrew3 Certainly there is an ideal amount of suction where it moves the fastest and is the least noisy. But that suction changes as the inline filter bag gets filled up. So you'd have to baby it all day to make sure the suction is ideal. That means reprogramming the pump equipment several times per day. No thanks. And even when the suction is low it's quite loud. Especially when it gets stuck in the shallow parts of the pool. It's 3 years latet now and it's still going strong. Some plastic parts have broken. Might get a new soon.
