    I adjusted the side port with my Jandy valve (4:44) and that allowed for a perfect flow regulator test between the minimum and maximum. Question: Can I continue to turn that Jandy valve, increasing the flow, while dropping the RPMs through Screenlogic (Pentair's app on my phone). Am I doing damage to the flow elsewhere by continuing to open it here? Thanks, by the way! I was all the way up to 3500 and hardly showed a minimum on that regulator test. Once I opened the Jandy, it made all the difference. I'm just not sure how much farther I can go (or what it's actually doing when opened).

    • @SPL
      @SPL  5 лет назад

      It wont do any damage - you are just changing directly the flow to the cleaner and reducing it from the skimmer. The only time it can be an issue is if the cleaner has too much suction and you see the water in the pump drop down. But under normal conditions nothing is effected when you increase the suction to the cleaner and reduce suction at the skimmer. Typically 2600 RPM will get the Rebel moving well from a side port connection.

    Very good video. Can you tell me how to correct the problem of the cleaner climbing the wall too much, rising up out of the water and pulling air into the line? Thanks.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  Год назад +1

      You just have to dial the suction down little by little until stops breaching the waterline. Pretty easy fix.

      @@SPL Thanks a lot. My pool servicing technician did that and it seems to have worked pretty good. I believe the suction was at the minimum line after that. If it still does it is it OK to go less than the minimum? Or will lowering the RPM of the pump help?

    Hey Steve I have a question. I have a Pentair SuperFlo variable speed pump and this Pentair Rebel cleaner. I have a dedicated suction line which is where I have the Rebel installed. I can only get the Rebel to clean when I install the additional piece into my skimmer to create more pressure. Even if I increase the RPM's to 3450 I still can't get the Rebel to perform properly with the main drain and skimmer running at the same time. Do you think adding a booster pump to the suction line would solve my problem? I really want to be able to run the skimmer and cleaner at the same time. Thanks.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  Год назад

      You really don't need full skimming nor main drain suction with a cleaner working in the pool. I would turn off the main drain and just adjust with the skimmer and cleaner suction.

    The manual shows installing the regulator valve into the skimmer port when doing the optional vacuum line installation (side port as you call it). Is that necessary if you control the flow through the jandy valve like you did?

      Could be the gears are worn out in the cleaner -maybe the teeth in the wheels are worn down. The big problem with the cleaner is that there is no rebuild kit. I suspect maybe a wheel is worn out - the teeth need to be sharp to catch in the gears.

    I purchased this cleaner and was told it would chew up leaves. It rolls over the leaves and doesn't pick anything up?

    I just have a question.
    I am from South Africa
    We have pool cleaner similar to this called the dominator pro by kreepy krauly.
    I just wanted to ask which one is better to buy between the mx6, mx6 elite, mx8, mx8 elite and the dominator pro

    • @SPL
      @SPL  4 года назад +1

      I look at it like this. The Dominator will run for 4 years problem free. Then you will need parts. Parts by Pentair are crazy expensive at least in the USA. So if you replace 2 wheels, the tires and maybe a couple of gears it will cost as much as a new cleaner. The MX cleaners will need more parts over the years but those parts are relatively cheap and easy to replace. You can get 10 years out of an MX cleaner. Not so with the Dominator with the high part replacement prices. The only drawback with the MX cleaners is that long string like debris can clog it. But if your doesn't have that it will be fine.

    • @abdullahahmad4816

      Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To - SPL Thank you very much for that. I’ve checked the prices for dominator parts, the pool guys close to my house quoted me R900 for all the parts and they quoted me R1600 for mx8 parts. And I do end up having quite a lot of debris at the bottom of my pool so I think the dominator pro would suit me best.

    I couldn’t find anything in the manual. I have a variable speed pump and not sure what rpm to run the system at with the skimmer and separate vacuum line.
    Is there an ideal rpm to run. I realize I would adjust the valve to get the flow between the lines, but wondering what rpm I should even start at?
    I just got the pool remodeled from old school pop up returns and no dedicated vacuum line. So my rpm was vastly different depending on when I had the pop ups trying to do maximum clean.
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    I liked your videos on the PoolCleaner 2nd Gen and the Hayward Phoenix and Aquanaut, but for some bizarre reason, they're not available in Australia. I think Haywards dumped all their 1st Gen PoolCleaners on us.

    Have a similar product to this and it never worked properly despite the manufacturer replacing parts and servicing it, I then replaced the bearings in the cam housing that engages the gears with sealed metal bearings, these were slightly larger than the plastic ones and there is no free play left in the system now so the gears engage properly, the machine now works as it should!

    Great video. Very informative. For the skimmer installation, it looks like this disables both the bottom-of-the-pool intake and the skimmer itself. Is it fine to just leave it this way, or is it good to disconnect the vacuum and let the other parts run now and then?
    Also, our pool has a pop-up system, but many of them don't work right anymore and they're expensive to replace. That's why were getting a suction cleaner. Should we let the pop-ups run anyway or redirect to the return jet (of which there is only one)?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  9 лет назад +1

      Phorenn I would leave the main drain off and i your connecting it to the skimmer there will still be skimming action - just at a reduced rate. And yes, redirect the floor jet if needed to the one return jet. It might be better anyway if they are not popping up.

      Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 The cleaner is working great! I've been trying it with the pop-ups still running. The cleaner drives right over them without a problem. So it seems like they should help with circulation better than a single return jet?
