@@LindsayMartinez-q6b Some pools, like mine, have an adjustable hand valve for the side suction outlet. Keep in mind when adjusting the speed some factors may affect the outcome. Things like a dirty filter and if you have a variable speed pump. Adjust the speed on high pump speed and clean your filter if needed first. Good luck.

Question, it's working well when connected to the skimmer but when I connect to the pool vacuum plug on the side of the pool it works for a minute and stops. Any suggestions? I noticed mine was getting stuck on the main drain recently after approximately 12 months in a pebble pool. Sure enough the tires are at the wear mark. I rotated the front tires and I'll be ordering new tires. Thanks for the input!!
I don't know if you answer questions, but I am having a suction problem. It starts off ok, then, with my hand down in the skimmer hole, I feel the suction is strong for about 30 seconds, then it goes down to a trickle. I appreciate your response. James
Dave, I hope you get this message. I’ve been using these pool cleaners since inception. I actually spoke to the owner when I called the original company! I use these in an above ground 20’ KD Pool. I want to recommend to my coworkers with a 20’ Coleman Pool. I just now noticed (after many years) these are for in ground pools. Can I confidently recommend this cleaner for an above ground (4 foot) soft sided pool? Like I said it works well in mine. I started with the two wheel version, now have the 4 wheel version as my hose would not stay upright, even with the floats adjusted. Please let me know as we are looking for an above ground suction side pool cleaner. Thanks, Tony.
Just bought this 4 wheel vacuum last week seems to work well except it will not climb!!! Any suggestions? I changed suction to the large mouth and increased suction but still no luck
Hello, my Hayward 2 wheel vacuum hangs in the deep end all day; when you say increase RPM do you mean increase the suction to the cleaner? My vacuum is plugged into the side wall, do you think putting it in the skimmer will work better? Also, do you recommend having the main drain on or off? THANK YOU!
Great video I just got my pool cleaner and installed it today. What would cause the pool cleaner to not have enough wheel rotations? I adjusted the suction valve over and over and over again and the best rpm’s I could get was 8 rotations per min. Any advice?
I cleaned the filters, made sure my valves were in the correct position and I’m still only getting 8-9RPM’s and for whatever reason my vacuumed floats. I took the floats off to see if that would help but it didn’t. My father in law bought the same vacuums and is having similar issues. He’s only getting 8RPM’s also.
Thanks so much for the video. Just bought a new 4 wheel pool cleaner. Ive been manually cleaning weekly as I cannot find anything that will climb the walls or go to shallow end. This new one is no different. It has 12RPMs but seems to "slip" while climbing the walls. My pool is fiberglass and a little slick. Im hesitant to cut the nodges off the wheels in case I cant get it to work and have to return. Any thoughts. Thanks so much for your Time.
Probably would advise to return this one. I think the only cleaner that will climb your walls effectively is maybe the Zodiac MX8 or M6 or a bouncing type cleaner like the Zodiac Ranger.
Great video, thanks! I just bought a 4x pool cleaner, tried to set it up. The first day it worked ok, but seems always stays in the deeper end. The second day it just refused to move. I noticed that we have 2 skimmers, one with double ports and one with single one. I hooked the cleaner on the double one, no matter what I do, it is just not working, any input?
2010alwayssunny You will have to block off one of the skimmers to give it sufficient wheel RPMs. Just use a 1 1/2" threaded plug in the skimmer opening if you don't have valves controlling the skimmers. If you have valves simple turn off one skimmer. On a two skimmer set up one skimmer needs to be completely off. Also turn off the main drain if it is on.
Hi, mine is a side port suction 2 wheel. When the wheels are turning in opposite directions there's plenty of power. However, when spinning the same direction, they will only turn when I'm holding it off the ground. Any pressure at all stops them. I have good suction and I've played around with the valve to lower and increase pressure but it made no difference. My pool shop took it apart and said it all looked ok. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I have a one hole skimmer and want to use the pool cleaner. I am having suction problems. What diverted should I use so that I can divert to full skimmer? Also I want to use a vac mate. But notice the suction is even worse when I use it. Is it possible I need a higher horsepower pump?
The diverter is the issue. There are a few different ones. Try a local pool store and see if the manager will give you several to try in your skimmer. Most are willing. A local pool service company can also set you up with the right one. Once you can turn off the main drain the vacmate should work fine.
I purchased a used unit and it didnt work (wheels were stuck) but then it fixed itself and was working great! Then i was in the pool while it was running and then i heard a click and then it stopped crawling/moving. Are the wheels suppose to rotate when not hooked up to anything or is it normal for it to be looked? I didnt know you can take a part. Thank you so much for this informative video.

@3:31 you mention getting just the right RPM on the wheels: not too much and not too little. Is that that the aspect of the poolvergnuegens your nephew mentioned, "I love it when it's working?" Do you have to keep monitoring and checking on the suction and RPMs with The Poolcleaner models? Or is an old fashioned Kreeper just a more dependable technology (no wheels to fuss with)?
It doesn't have any real issues once it is adjusted. If I ever get around to part two of this training series -part B you will see what stops this cleaner- kid's goggles jammed in the mouth. Nothing else will stop thing. Just kid's toys left on the bottom. The New Kreepy Krauly is a good choice also. It comes with a lot of hoses also.
I am about to order the Poolvergnuegen 4 wheel (I measured, and I need 12 meters of tubing). But one last question: you spoke highly of the G2. I just purchased the 4 wheel model. I have proper RPMs around 11/12 rpms with gunite pool and It will not climb the walls. Not sure what the deal is. If I pick it up and set it on the wall it just falls off down to the bottom. Like its not suctioning to the wall, but my RPMs are good. Any ideas? Thank you

Hello. Enjoy your videos. Just bought this cleaner and have a one hole skimmer. Have adjusted the the regulator valve all the way, but still not generating enough suction for 11-13 rpms. 7 rpms is the max I get. Will adding a diverter valve to the skimmer help? If so, does the diverter valve just insert into the one hole in the skimmer? Thank you!
Yes. Your one hole skimmer should have a diverter valve installed. Just go to your local pool store and tell them you have a one hole skimmer but no valve inside. They will sell you the correct one. If you can note your skimmer brand that helps. Look at the lid - it may have the brand printed on it. That should solve the issue.

How do you fix a situation with a one hole skimmer where pump will prime when cleaners not attached but cavitates when I connect 4 wheel the pool cleaner. Makes pump super loud. I’m using the included plastic speed adjustment device and attaching it to a 4or 5 inch female to female Hayward hose extender. Which then attaches to the one hole suction pipe. It’s like the pumps struggling to pull enough water? Rpm on tire is 12.
@@SPL nope. Happens a lot when you connect a auto cleaner to a single hole suction, it’s like the pump struggles to get enough water through cleaner? Causes pump to cavitate especially at higher speeds above 2800-3400
Hello, is it possible to get more clarity on the where to install the diverter valve on a one-hole skimmer? I hooked up our pool cleaner and it worked for the first day but now the wheels stopped spinning. I think I need a diverter valve but where do I install it? (New pool owner here) Thank you!
With a one hole skimmer, if there is no diverter valve in there you will need to purchase one and insert it. Otherwise you can't regulate the suction. Is there nothing in the hole in the skimmer?

I just purchased this cleaner and it is not climbing the walls and maybe not making it to the shallow end. I increased the rpm's but that didnt seem to help. Did I see that since I have a vinyl sided pool that I should cut the humps off the wheels? I am afraid to do that and it not work then I wont be able to return the cleaner if it is still not working.
This is not the best choice for a vinyl pool due to the sharp slope between shallow and deep end. If you can return it I would. Maybe get a Zodiac Ranger or Zodiac G3 - you will have good results with the bouncing type cleaner in your surface type.

I have a 2 wheeler. Right now, it will clean perfectly one minute and then do nothing the next. It goes back and forth this way all during the cycle! What causes this?
My 4 wheel did not come with the floats for the lead hose. My pool cleaner is always on it side and doesn't correct itself. Could not having the floats be the problem?

If the filter is cleaned and the flow is good - it is possible that you have the main drain line open. The main drain is controlled either by vsalves at the equipment or by the skimmer itself it your skimmer only has one hole.

I have a second gen Pool Cleaner by HaywRd. My issue is that the cleaner breaches the surface and sucks air. I have the smallest port opening installed, and the dial at the skimmer all the way open. How do I tame this thing?
You will have to start drilling holes in the skimmer adapter until the suction is reduced. Start with one hole and see if that does the trick. Or if you can divert some suction to the main drain that will work.
i installed the pool cleaner yesterday, it worked perfect for 1 day and now it will not move, it still has sunction though and the wheels have 0 rpm, i looked for obstruction in the pool cleaner itself and couldn't find anything, any ideas?
Sounds like something is stuck in the turbine - easy to clear: How to Unclog Debris Jammed in "The PoolCleaner" by Poolvergnuegen: ruclips.net/video/UpvrFLpjx14/видео.html Also, take the first hose off of the cleaner and see if there is suction. Sometimes debris will jam up the hose also. And of course make sure pump basket is clear of debris. So something is stuck either in the cleaner or in the hoses.

Every day I have to tear it apart and fix the turbines, nothing is ever stuck in the turbines they just get slightly knocked to the side while cleaning which causes the cleaner to stop in its tracks and do nothing, I really can't deal with it anymore. Do you have any suggestions on an alternative cleaner?
Jason Davis There have been several people with odd problems with this cleaner now that Hayward took over and is mass producing them. If you are looking for a good geared cleaner because of your pool shape - what does your pool look like and is it plaster? - then I would go with the Zodiac MX6 -if your pool isn't too large. My default cleaner now is the New Kreepy Krauly. But if you give me some more info on your pool I can help you find the best alternate cleaner. Sorry to hear you got a bad unit - that sucks but you are not alone it seems...

Thank you! I didn't find a rock, but the scoops would catch the rim because the suction mouth doesn't create a smooth edge inside. I appreciate the answer and now have another problem. The rpms are extremely low. I have a leak, suction side, but before it jammed it would zoom around my pool, now I'm down to 6-7 rpm and opening fully doesn't do anything. Now that I think of it I never thought to clear the hoses.

I already cut the bumps and the cleaner works a little better but still just gets stuck on the deep end. I either need differnet wheels or a bigger throat. Our pool floor is a pebble glass material.

I got the poolcleaner and set it up using the port on the side of my pool, where I used to run my old vacuum. This thing is constantly getting to the shallow end of the pool and getting stuck at the stairs. It won't turn to go a different direction, eventually goes back a few feet, but then right back into the stairs and not going to the rest of the pool. How do I fix this? Plenty of hose and suction.
I have tried just about everything you suggested. Have the large mouth installed. Tried different RPMs...cleaner will not climb walls. It's a small kidney shaped pool and sides are like a bowl in deep end but doesn't climb much better in shallow end. The floats were at 16 inches from cuff which I tried but instructions said to have at 20-25 inches so I tried that also. Like the cleaner except for this...don't know about returning it.. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated ...I have the 2 wheel drive model
Sorry forgot to say It's a pebble tec in-ground with side port. About 15000 gallons kidney shaped pool. It does a great job keeping bottom of pool clean, much better than the Kreepy krawler I replaced
I think so but not 100% sure. You can call the company and inquire. I've asked for a demo skimmer motion for the field but have not heard back - last e-mail from them was that they were sending it up the chain of command...
Just bought the poolcleaner. What could be the reason why sometimes my poolcleaner just floats and not touching the poolfloor? The hoses are long enough though.
Martin When it comes off of a wall it will float down. Otherwise it should stay planted on the bottom. As long as the float on the lead hose is positioned correctly the cleaner is heavy enough to stay on the bottom. Does it happen often?
Unfortunately Hayward does not honor their warranty. Hayward states 3 year warranty. Doheny states 2 year. My pool cleaner broke after 16 months. Doheny Pool Supply said the broken cleaner is not their problem and to call the manufacturer. Haywards. Roger Keel - Hayward Holdings Case Management Specialist refuses to respond. Buy at your own risk.

But over time the plastic housing had cracked one of the ‘feet’ wouldn’t stay in so we bought a brand new one....same model, last summer. Nothing has changed with our pool or filter system but the new cleaner would run a hour, maybe two, and just stop moving. No clog, no obstruction. Still had suction. I’d have to flick the vanes with my finger to get them spinning again. Worked an hour or two and then stops again. So the company I bought it from sent me a replacement....and the replacement does the exact same thing. So disappointed as our first one was such a good cleaner. Our pool was opened last week....put the cleaner in, same thing. Works a while and then just stops. I can’t figure it out. Surely I can’t get two defective cleaners in a row. Any thoughts? Thank you.
@@1Tori391 It would be strange to have two dud units for sure. Try removing the screws on top and then the turbine cover. Then remove two of the turbine vanes, not two consecutive ones, but two in total. See if that helps the turbine to spin freely. I have the 4 wheel version and my cleaner seems to run fine but no longer does the turn itself action. Before the unit would run in a straight line then after so many feet or i presume revolutions of the gears it would do a spin around and head another direct. Now it seems to run in a straight line and likes to get stuck in the deep end or at the steps. Any suggestions as to what this may be? I checked the turbines, the gears, drive shafts and the hose connection point on the top spins freely. Couldnt find anything off the bat that would indicate and issue.

I've got 15 on my route - one had a broken wheel which seems rare and all the rest have needed zero maintenance - just changing the rubber tires when they wear down. so no, it is not at all like the Navigator.

Sounds like an air leak in the line. See if you can isolate it. Usually by the pool pump. Check for any leaks. Change the pump lid oring as well.

Increase side port suction/power. Turn off the main drain. That should do it!

I would clean the filter if you haven't already. And the main drain needs to be completely off as well

Hi, mine is a side port suction 2 wheel. When the wheels are turning in opposite directions there's plenty of power. However, when spinning the same direction, they will only turn when I'm holding it off the ground. Any pressure at all stops them. I have good suction and I've played around with the valve to lower and increase pressure but it made no difference. My pool shop took it apart and said it all looked ok. Any suggestions? Thank you.

@@SPL The Poolcleaner is fairly new. I bought it in September last year when I bought the house with the pool.
Okay, so the tires should be good. Try moving the float around and see if moving it down towards the cleaner corrects that issue.

I have a one hole skimmer and want to use the pool cleaner. I am having suction problems. What diverted should I use so that I can divert to full skimmer? Also I want to use a vac mate. But notice the suction is even worse when I use it. Is it possible I need a higher horsepower pump?
The diverter is the issue. There are a few different ones. Try a local pool store and see if the manager will give you several to try in your skimmer. Most are willing. A local pool service company can also set you up with the right one. Once you can turn off the main drain the vacmate should work fine.
I purchased a used unit and it didnt work (wheels were stuck) but then it fixed itself and was working great! Then i was in the pool while it was running and then i heard a click and then it stopped crawling/moving. Are the wheels suppose to rotate when not hooked up to anything or is it normal for it to be looked? I didnt know you can take a part. Thank you so much for this informative video.

@3:31 you mention getting just the right RPM on the wheels: not too much and not too little. Is that that the aspect of the poolvergnuegens your nephew mentioned, "I love it when it's working?" Do you have to keep monitoring and checking on the suction and RPMs with The Poolcleaner models? Or is an old fashioned Kreeper just a more dependable technology (no wheels to fuss with)?
It doesn't have any real issues once it is adjusted. If I ever get around to part two of this training series -part B you will see what stops this cleaner- kid's goggles jammed in the mouth. Nothing else will stop thing. Just kid's toys left on the bottom. The New Kreepy Krauly is a good choice also. It comes with a lot of hoses also.
I am about to order the Poolvergnuegen 4 wheel (I measured, and I need 12 meters of tubing). But one last question: you spoke highly of the G2. PoolCleaner is the best cleaner - especially for larger pools.
I just purchased the 4 wheel model. I have proper RPMs around 11/12 rpms with gunite pool and It will not climb the walls. Not sure what the deal is. If I pick it up and set it on the wall it just falls off down to the bottom. Like its not suctioning to the wall, but my RPMs are good. Any ideas? Thank you

I have the four wheel version of this. Has worked great for many years but recently it just falls over on its side and never recovers. Any idea what that might be?
Try replacing the 4-tires. Also maybe move the float on the lead hose down

Would remove a couple of the vanes and see if that helps. If it is more than 4-5 years old the gears may be wearing out.
Hello. Enjoy your videos. Just bought this cleaner and have a one hole skimmer. Have adjusted the the regulator valve all the way, but still not generating enough suction for 11-13 rpms. 7 rpms is the max I get. Will adding a diverter valve to the skimmer help? If so, does the diverter valve just insert into the one hole in the skimmer? Thank you!
Yes. Your one hole skimmer should have a diverter valve installed. Just go to your local pool store and tell them you have a one hole skimmer but no valve inside. They will sell you the correct one. If you can note your skimmer brand that helps. Look at the lid - it may have the brand printed on it. That should solve the issue.

How do you fix a situation with a one hole skimmer where pump will prime when cleaners not attached but cavitates when I connect 4 wheel the pool cleaner. Makes pump super loud. I’m using the included plastic speed adjustment device and attaching it to a 4or 5 inch female to female Hayward hose extender. Which then attaches to the one hole suction pipe. It’s like the pumps struggling to pull enough water? Rpm on tire is 12.
I wonder if there is a suction leak at the pump? Any water leaking around the pump?
@@SPL nope. Happens a lot when you connect a auto cleaner to a single hole suction, it’s like the pump struggles to get enough water through cleaner? Causes pump to cavitate especially at higher speeds above 2800-3400
Hello, is it possible to get more clarity on the where to install the diverter valve on a one-hole skimmer? I hooked up our pool cleaner and it worked for the first day but now the wheels stopped spinning. I think I need a diverter valve but where do I install it? (New pool owner here) Thank you!
With a one hole skimmer, if there is no diverter valve in there you will need to purchase one and insert it. Otherwise you can't regulate the suction. Is there nothing in the hole in the skimmer?

I'm thinking about purchase but I'm wondering...Can the pool cleaner vacuum be used in an above ground vinyl pool (12x24) and if so, how would I hook it up?
It will work but there are less expensive cleaners available that do a fine job in above ground pools - like the Zodiac Ranger.
I just purchased this cleaner and it is not climbing the walls and maybe not making it to the shallow end. I increased the rpm's but that didnt seem to help. Did I see that since I have a vinyl sided pool that I should cut the humps off the wheels? I am afraid to do that and it not work then I wont be able to return the cleaner if it is still not working.
This is not the best choice for a vinyl pool due to the sharp slope between shallow and deep end. If you can return it I would. Maybe get a Zodiac Ranger or Zodiac G3 - you will have good results with the bouncing type cleaner in your surface type.
Hello just bought this but would not climb the walls. I have pebble coat pool. I tried all your recommendations with no luck. Can you recommend a unit that will climb the walls and will not get stuck on steps? My pool is 33' x 15' with skimmer positioned med pool.

Just bought one of these. The cleaner moves, but wont climb and doesn't suck up dirt. When I put my hand near the throat I can feel suction. I don't know whats wrong.

If the filter is cleaned and the flow is good - it is possible that you have the main drain line open. The main drain is controlled either by vsalves at the equipment or by the skimmer itself it your skimmer only has one hole.

Try moving the float a little lower towards the cleaner. If it still does that try a higher position instead.
How to turn it on and off? Instruction manual says it needs to be taken out of the pool when swimming. But how? I don’t see a switch and I don’t see it plugged in .
Just remove it from either the skimmer or sideport.

I have a second gen Pool Cleaner by HaywRd. My issue is that the cleaner breaches the surface and sucks air. I have the smallest port opening installed, and the dial at the skimmer all the way open. How do I tame this thing?
You will have to start drilling holes in the skimmer adapter until the suction is reduced. Start with one hole and see if that does the trick. Or if you can divert some suction to the main drain that will work.
i installed the pool cleaner yesterday, it worked perfect for 1 day and now it will not move, it still has sunction though and the wheels have 0 rpm, i looked for obstruction in the pool cleaner itself and couldn't find anything, any ideas?

Also, take the first hose off of the cleaner and see if there is suction. Sometimes debris will jam up the hose also. And of course make sure pump basket is clear of debris. So something is stuck either in the cleaner or in the hoses.

Jason Davis There have been several people with odd problems with this cleaner now that Hayward took over and is mass producing them. If you are looking for a good geared cleaner because of your pool shape - what does your pool look like and is it plaster? - then I would go with the Zodiac MX6 -if your pool isn't too large. My default cleaner now is the New Kreepy Krauly. But if you give me some more info on your pool I can help you find the best alternate cleaner. Sorry to hear you got a bad unit - that sucks but you are not alone it seems...

Thank you! I didn't find a rock, but the scoops would catch the rim because the suction mouth doesn't create a smooth edge inside. I appreciate the answer and now have another problem. The rpms are extremely low. I have a leak, suction side, but before it jammed it would zoom around my pool, now I'm down to 6-7 rpm and opening fully doesn't do anything. Now that I think of it I never thought to clear the hoses.

You just need the floats. However the grey cuffed lead hose is slightly skinner so the floats will be a bit hard to get on.

It shouldn't have any issues with the main drains. Try increasing the suction to the cleaner.

Could be a bad gear in there. If it is over 4-5 years old I would suggest the "Lower Body Conversion Kit."

You would just need a small 4" female to female hose or just cut the end off of one of the hoses to make it fit on the valve.

I figured out that the adapter does not fit my skimmer.
I got the poolcleaner and set it up using the port on the side of my pool, where I used to run my old vacuum.
This thing is constantly getting to the shallow end of the pool and getting stuck at the stairs. It won't turn to go a different direction, eventually goes back a few feet, but then right back into the stairs and not going to the rest of the pool. How do I fix this? Plenty of hose and suction.
Is it safe to cover my pool with my motorized pool cover while my pool cleaner is running?

I have tried just about everything you suggested. Have the large mouth installed. Tried different RPMs...cleaner will not climb walls. It's a small kidney shaped pool and sides are like a bowl in deep end but doesn't climb much better in shallow end. The floats were at 16 inches from cuff which I tried but instructions said to have at 20-25 inches so I tried that also. Like the cleaner except for this...don't know about returning it.. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated ...I have the 2 wheel drive model

Sorry forgot to say It's a pebble tec in-ground with side port. About 15000 gallons kidney shaped pool. It does a great job keeping bottom of pool clean, much better than the Kreepy krawler I replaced

That is a float. It keeps the cleaner head balanced. Needed for proper operation.

Just bought the poolcleaner. What could be the reason why sometimes my poolcleaner just floats and not touching the poolfloor? The hoses are long enough though.
Martin When it comes off of a wall it will float down. Otherwise it should stay planted on the bottom. As long as the float on the lead hose is positioned correctly the cleaner is heavy enough to stay on the bottom. Does it happen often?

Unfortunately Hayward does not honor their warranty. Hayward states 3 year warranty. Doheny states 2 year. My pool cleaner broke after 16 months. Doheny Pool Supply said the broken cleaner is not their problem and to call the manufacturer. Haywards. Roger Keel - Hayward Holdings Case Management Specialist refuses to respond. Buy at your own risk.

But over time the plastic housing had cracked one of the ‘feet’ wouldn’t stay in so we bought a brand new one....same model, last summer. Nothing has changed with our pool or filter system but the new cleaner would run a hour, maybe two, and just stop moving. No clog, no obstruction. Still had suction. I’d have to flick the vanes with my finger to get them spinning again. Worked an hour or two and then stops again. So the company I bought it from sent me a replacement....and the replacement does the exact same thing. So disappointed as our first one was such a good cleaner. Our pool was opened last week....put the cleaner in, same thing. Works a while and then just stops. I can’t figure it out. Surely I can’t get two defective cleaners in a row. Any thoughts?

@@1Tori391 It would be strange to have two dud units for sure. Try removing the screws on top and then the turbine cover. Then remove two of the turbine vanes, not two consecutive ones, but two in total. See if that helps the turbine to spin freely. I have the 4 wheel version and my cleaner seems to run fine but no longer does the turn itself action. Before the unit would run in a straight line then after so many feet or i presume revolutions of the gears it would do a spin around and head another direct. Now it seems to run in a straight line and likes to get stuck in the deep end or at the steps. Any suggestions as to what this may be? I checked the turbines, the gears, drive shafts and the hose connection point on the top spins freely. Couldnt find anything off the bat that would indicate and issue.
Sounds like a bad cam. How old is the cleaner? You may just want to drop in a Lower Body Conversion Kit and be done with it.

I've got 15 on my route - one had a broken wheel which seems rare and all the rest have needed zero maintenance - just changing the rubber tires when they wear down. so no, it is not at all like the Navigator.

Yes.
