Great video man! I am soing this next weekend to my wifes 2006 Commander. Also changing the ignition coils while I'm at it.
If I can do it, you can do it. Thanks for watching.
Just did the plugs in one of my three today the other ones tomorrow. You’re not kidding about the left side one being a little tedious near the firewall
Great job!
Copper, copper, copper!!! Best choice for these engines! Great video!
Agreed!! Thanks for watching!
I know it's hard to believe but the old tech crappy copper champion plugs actually work great on these engines, just replace every 20k miles or so
To your point, the car was running fine before I changed them. Thanks for watching!
Nice vid Brandon!! Love the support vids for us garage mechanics. Just did the box spark plugs and pcv valve. Runs great!
I need to do the PVC valve too. I have no idea if it was ever changed. I'm thinking of maybe doing the EGR valve too. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the info! I will be doing this and usual maintenance on the "Keiki Hauler" so brushing up on some tips. The cars in your stable is similar to mine but I have an SC300 in place of the Clean White Lude 🤙
Nice! That's a beautiful car!! Thanks for watching!
My Commander definitely gonna have the 5.7, seen somewhere the 09-10 with Eagle heads were more inclined to have lifter issue, stink thing is that those years were when they had blacked interior, think I may roll that dice and take a chance......if I can find one
My machinist dad loved Champion plugs. I’m trying to remember why. I think they are either rolled threads or like pipe threads. In an iron head they seal really good and keep the threads clean.
However, in an aluminum head, they were known to easily cross thread or pull out the threads. I’m thinking back 30+ years though.
I prefer to use copper anti-seize on spark plug threads for conductivity, since that’s the plug’s ground.
For years I used to put anti-seize on spark plugs. It's good practice. Like I said in the video, I don't think it's a 100% necessary. If you maintain your vehicle correctly, you should be removing them in 25,000 miles or so. That's only two years for most drivers so they should come out pretty easily. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this video
Most welcome 😊 Thanks for watching!
NGK for the win!
Always!! Thanks for watching!
Nice video. If you want to increase you gas mileage install the 12 hole injectors. After installing my lift and bigger tires my mpg dropped to around 14 mpg from 16 mpg in the city. After installing the 12 hole injectors the mpg went to 17 mpg in the city. Without the AC running.
Hmm, never heard of that. Where can I find these injectors?
Dropping in to say hi 👋. Hope you and your wife are doing well
Thanks for the visit
Dude what's with them birds, pretty cool. Those plugs were toast, I'm surprised the MPG did nit increase, curious to see what intake setup you go with. Funny that I came across two Commanders today and was looking at both thinking "what is Brandon gonna do"!?
Commanders are taking over!! They are everywhere IF you look for them, otherwise they just blend into the sea of oversized SUV's that dominate our roadways. However, mine no longer blends in!! Find out more next week!!!! See ya then, JC!
So there is actually 16 spark plugs on this motor have you did the ones one the side?
No, the 4.7 before 2007 only had 8 spark plugs. The 4.7 HO and the Hemi both have 16 spark plugs. #thatsucks Thanks for watching!
What size socket did you use to remove the spark plugs? I’m trying to use a 5 8 th but it wouldn’t fit in the cylinder hole?
There is a link to the socket in the description box. Thanks for watching.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers I said I tried a 5 8th and that size socket doesn’t fit the cylinder hole to take the spark plug out…. Something isn’t right
Is there not 8 intake spark plugs and 8 exhaust spark plugs on this motor? My flex fuel 4.7l has 16 spark plugs
You have the 4.7 HO. I do not. In 2006 they didn't offer the 4.7 HO. Thanks for watching.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers oh ok makes sense! Thanks for the vid
How important is it to change ignition coils?
I wouldn't change them unless you are throwing a code.
Miata?
Still in the garage. We are currently at a stalemate.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers TURBO!!! 🤙
Good chance that Amazon NGKs are bootleg/ counterfeits
I've heard that, but never experienced it myself. Thanks for watching.
Not sure what kind of Commander you have but you're missing 8 spark plugs. 16 plugs are not inexpensive and it doesn't take NGK plugs. They are a nightmare
Before you comment, you should know a little bit about what you are talking about. Thanks for watching.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers I have two Commanders and work for Chrysler at the proving grounds. I just finished tuning one up less than 4 hours ago. I believe I'm more than qualified. In your video you stated that you would need 8 spark plugs when there is 16. That engine originally came with Champion copper plugs up top and Champion double iridium on the exhaust banks. Bosch is the plug they use now. I apologize if I didn't hear something correctly in your video. I quit watching as soon as I heard 8 spark plugs and very easy to do. You know how many videos that are out there where it shows people only replacing the upper (intake) spark plugs? The lower banks (exhaust) on both sides are a pain in the ass to change. It's enough that it made me question buying them.
@@channelx92 Dude, don't embarrass yourself anymore. Just stop talking. The XK came with four engine options: 3.0 Diesel turbo (European only) V6, 4.7 V8 (what you see in the video if you actually watched it) and a V8 Hemi (with 16 spark plugs). Don't believe me? Google it.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers What are you talking about? Do you disagree that the 4.7l has 16 spark plugs? I have the Chrysler factory service manuals for my 2008 Jeep Commander. I say manuals because there is 6 volumes and I don't even know how many thousands of pages they have combined. I am more than aware of how many engines were made for that vehicle. I have more information right here in front of me than all the information you could ever find online. Try bringing up the factory service manuals online. You might find someone trying to sell you half ass copies or Chrysler sells CD ROM copies. Do you work for Chrysler also? If you ever have any questions you need answered don't be afraid to ask. Just because you know that it's a XK body doesn't make you an expert. Have you ever seen one with a diesel in it before? I have. So I don't know how I'm embarrassing myself? I just pointed out the facts about the spark plugs. If Im wrong about something I just wanted to know what it is. I'm only human and not perfect but just saying don't embarrass yourself doesn't explain a thing. I would like to time you putting in these 16 spark plugs and when you're finished ask you again how easy you thought it was.
@@channelx92 Dude, the 4.7 HO's have 16 spark plugs. The 4.7 non-HO's have 8. Watch the video. Actually learn something before getting in the comments section and acting like your Chip Foose. How does this moron RUclipsr know more about Chryslers than you do?!??
