    This is the video I needed to see!!! I was so disinherited with barebones for my widen cabinet. I am so excited to try this out. I will update when I get it worked out.

    FANTASTIC video! I'm going to attempt to add Batocera to an android box now. You've inspired me! Subscribed! Cheers!

    With the shortage of Raspberry Pi's it's great to see that Batocera can be an option for other hardware such as Orange Pi. I am very familiar with Retropie on the Pi 3B+, and as I saw in this video, the configs are very similar. Also they use EmulationStation, which is great. Thank you for sharing this one with us. Keep up the great work!

      Yes, I love that the Batocera team support so many devices! It's a really neat project and I barely scratched the surface in this video.

    When we do the USB stick to roms, is there a way to have the system pull those files onto the SD card?

  • @MobileDecay
    @MobileDecay Год назад +2

    There's a setting in Batocera to create an exfat partition to the sd card so you can add roms in windows.

      That's good to know thanks! I've only been using it a few weeks, so still a bit to learn. I love it though.

    Haha, just checking videos about it and this one appears in the moment i needed it most 😆.
    I am testing it first with Virtualbox and at least i am no getting blue screen of death since 1 hour.
    I have my arcade cabinet with Retropie and runs ok.

      Nice! I’ve always used Retropie in my arcade, but I’ve been impressed with Batocera so far! I’ll be trying it on the Steamdeck next. Good luck

    thanks a lot for this video. it is very cool. in term of audience, batocera is now number one since 2022 with more than 40% of the retrogaming os market. batocera 36 will be released in the coming days with official steam deck support and it works very well. you can format the internal sd partition in exfat if you prefer via the system/developper/format menu. btrfs is recommanded while it works on windows too.

    I gave up on trying to get an RPi for normal price and just ordered a mini PC from GMKtec instead. I did end up paying 250, but they also have 100$ machines.

    I installed everything on RPI4B, it works relatevely well, but it overheats and then it becomes impossible to play ... Im specially focused on the lightgun games. I wil give it a shot with Retropie .. maybe its lighter than Batocera..

    Ahhhh mate, another excellent Sinden lightgun update….if I owned all the parts I would deffo give this a go but I would need to by absolutely everything (even my cpu is only a notebook 🤣), that could all add up to be pretty pricey…..with that said if I had most of the stuff to hand then I would deffo give this a go……great walkthrough….even I think I could give this a good go and I’m a right computer noob 😂 👍👍👍👍 great stuff!!

      Oh mate, you can have a Raspberry Pi... I really do have about half a dozen collected over the years. Lots of fun to try out and it really isn't all that difficult, the hard work is already done for you.

      @@NewRetroAdventures ahh bless you but that’s too much, maybe I’ll be in contact with you if I ever upgrade my pc and finally jump into the sinden….the purist in me is still rebelling slightly 🤣. I think without a “proper pc” I wouldn’t be able to achieve what you have demonstrated here. My arcade machine actually does run off a raspberry pi with retro pi but I bought it fully loaded, it has served me very well tho 👍👍

    Nice vid bud. How’s 2 player work in this setup?

    • @NewRetroAdventures
      @NewRetroAdventures  Год назад

      2 player is fine with pads. If using same controller, ie 2P arcade, I’ve found adding 1P first then connect 2P to other USB socket block avoids conflict. I can’t imagine 2P Sinden would work well if at all.

      Yes, it’s like magic. Not real magic like Harry Potter, more like Penn and Teller. They’ve put a ton of work in to make it work this well and it’s pretty special. Have fun!

  • @lsdowdle

    I'm guessing you didn't get a Raspberry Pi 4 before they became impossible to get due to parts shortages... or you have one but it is otherwise occupied?
    So, after having fun with the Batocera UI, do you look down any on the minimalist MiSTer FPGA UI?
    BTW, "ya'll" is really Southern United States... and most Southerners when they stray away from the South stop using it. I grew up in Tennessee but have been living in Montana now more than half of my life and I almost never hear the word "ya'll". Then I go visit the South... and it is everywhere. I've started using it in Montana myself occasionally, just for a change of pace.

    • @NewRetroAdventures
      @NewRetroAdventures  Год назад

      Yes precisely! I messed around, undecided which RAM option to get then they went OOS. I still love the simplicity of the MiSTer UI. I can find games far quicker on there then in Emulation Station.
      Interesting info on the use of y’all 😅 I love it though… to us Brits it’s such a quintessentially American phrase.
