The Breaks were a band that had everything - they had the songs, they had the sound and of course, they had Susanne - a hotter or more talented singer never existed. Growing up in Memphis, The Breaks were always on the radio, and their sound is etched forever in my mind. I remember those hot Memphis Summer nights - the thick, sweet, humid air... the darkness of the trees and the blue glow of the swimming pool light in my back yard. All of the excitement and chaos - all of the dreams and possibilities of my youth - this music makes it all come rushing back to me. Thanks Pat, for posting this.
Yes, I remember hearing them on the radio all the time in Memphis. I'm sure what happened, did they go nationwide or simply fizzle out after a few attempts? The music business is so difficult.
I tried for so long to find this tune. Since the year it was recorded I reckon. Searching "The Breaks" never did produce what I wanted. I had almost given up hope that I would ever hear this again. But Suzanne made such an impression on me back then that I never forgot her name and so I searched that and at long last I found it. This song has been like a ghost in my mind for over twenty years now...haunting me,.eluding me. Finding it was better than finding a lost and forgotten fortune. So soulful. So beautiful. And I never get tired to hear it. Thank you Suzanne for giving this to us. No one could ever sing it better
I saw them several times in the very early 80s at Solomon Alfred's and High Cotton. So much talent in one band, plus a beautiful lead singer with a mesmerizing stage presence. Pat was the perfect compliment to Suzanne. Russ and Rob Caudill were such a tight rhythym section. I used to try and flirt with Suzanne as she was singing and she would wink at me and I thought I had died and gone to heaven...but, alas...it was for naught. She was in love and married to the most handsome guy in Memphis who was also great guitarist. I had NO chance LOL! Those nights in Memphis were pure magic. You had to have been there. So sorry and sad about losing Pat so soon. I have read and heard that Pat & Suzanne's son Paul, is a chip off the old block and inherited their respective talents. It couldn't have turned out any better. I miss seeing them so much and hope all is well and their music is thriving. I'm sorry I can't remember their keyboard player's name at this moment...Tom???
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! FOR POSTING THIS!!! I never forgot this artist singing this on this show. I bought their album on cassette back in the day. I played it so much I wore it out. She is so beautiful and talented. I never forgot her mesmerizing gaze into the camera. LOVE their music! Her voice is so GREAT!
I have always said that this is one of the best songs ever written. Suzannes voice has the perfect tone and sultryness to express the emotions of the lyrics and Pat had the tasteful riffs that made it all work together seamlessly. I always wondered after they finished recording this song if they realized the masterpiece they had created. I hope so. Peace and love my friends.
Got Susanne’s autograph when she sang at the Memphis Italian Festival. Was able to buy their CDs. I spent many nights in bars listening to her sing….sure there were others in the band, did not notice. Still love this song.
I remember this tv appearance. I never forgot her. Their whole album was soooo gooood! Last time I checked I couldn't find it on iTunes....Pleez put the album on iTunes.
They lived across from me on Hadley in 1980. I had a garage bnd and they would hear us playing...Pat came over and invited me to come over and jam with him and the band. Fun times...sad to hear Pat died.
Wow!! Where did you find that?! I have been looking for them for YEARS!!! I had their cassette when I was a teenager. I loved them! This was one of my favorite songs from them! Thanks for sharing!

51 years ago and it still sound excellent.
Back in a time when music was worth listening to.
When I go back and watch these videos I don't get why they were not a big success.. They had the voices, the tunes, the looks the whole enchilada.
I will forever love the hell out of this song. Pat Taylor wasn't nearly as known as she should have been.❤❤❤
