Hey guys! It looks like there was an error with the original download pack. It's supposed to be free off my website. I think that's been fixed now so please let me know!
By any stretch it is a wonderful campfire song and you're spot on for doing this. Doesn't require a vocal athlete and that's the beauty of it. It's relatable, approachable, just like Marko standing there and leaning in, in front of 20.000 people and being approachable. Now I'm here, 35 years behind me, sitting in my underwear and want to start playing a guitar again. After not touching it for nearly 10 years... Damn. Thanks.
Haha! That happened to me in 2009 when Springsteen came to play in my hometown (Valladolid, Spain). I was 37 then and I hadn't even looked at a guitar for 12 years... Funny, life... Keep at it mate. That wooden girl will make you very happy for hours on end... Peace
My lack of musical training is one of my greatest regret in life and half of what you said flew over my head, but that was still bloody damn interesting.
Wow, that is awesome. Thanks for the effort. I don't play the guitar, but it's amazing to see people going beyond the 'watch video, go wow, bye' content. Keep up the good work.
I looove this! It's very instructive and it gives me a better understanding of how the song goes. I will definitely use this video as a reference, thank you soooo much!
Man! I'm so happy you did this! Saw this song live a few months back and decided I wanted to learn it. Went on ultimate guitar, saw the alien tuning and decided to put off learning the song. I don't know why I'm so lazy when it comes to changing tunings. It's not that hard or time consuming, but it is a put off. So yeah, definitely appreciate this!
I don't play any instruments but the knowledge behind all this is mesmerizing! I really like it. The depth of understanding got so much deeper and gives this lyrical and instrumental masterpiece another (new) dimension. Thanks man! (And your voice isn't so bad either! Try to sing more :D)
@@TempleMusicAcademy I think "How's the Heart" from the new album and "Kiss while your lips are still red" from earlier are really nice candidates to start with.
@@TempleMusicAcademy I don't even play the guitar and I'm excited. With the chording, I can arrange it for piano/harp which I do play. I'd love to see some others as you have time! What a neat idea.
thx for doing the islander i know the nightwish and other guitar newbees will love it ! vid. was shared in our nw discord (so as every vid. concerning Nightwish and or reactions btw)
3 years later, and here am I using to practice chords hahahahaha I'm a bass player, but now I'm learning a little guitar to improve my skills with harmony, I don't know if in English saying so is correct, but I think I give the idea.
Thank you so much for doing this video! When you said you might on your reaction I was optimistic- you didn’t let down. Two questions: 1) what tuning do you think he uses An 2) do you have any idea how he gets that acoustic tone with an electric? If you or any of your watchers or subscribers know please share. Ones again thanks for the video.
It's in C# standard for the studio version. Consequently, most Nightwish songs are in D Standard, so I imagine that it was Marco's desire to not have to retune that beast that caused him to keep it in D.
Just for spits and grins. Can you do this with an electric guitar. I'm loving the way I can feel the echo and would love to see how it differs. Because you know the electric has a different vibe.
I picked up this song by ear and learned it on the guitar. Very similar to how you're playing it with slight differences. Perhaps I'll try to video tape it and email it to you. But I'd love to learn what tuning they play it in and what variations of chords they use in their original recording
Thanks for this lesson bro, quite more accurate than the version I was playing before (from a chords website). Could you pls do something similar with Nightwish's "How's the heart" acoustic from Planet Rock?
i know u did this so most can play it, just for the record the live version starts at a c minor not b minor :) so if u want to play along to the song u need to tune youre guitar up half a step to use this way of playing :)
Hello and thank you very much, this version is briliant! I've also notice, that you placed a link for download below the video and that is absolutely awesome and kind. But I have problem (probably me is the problem) but I don't know how to get it. Is there any special button? I tried order it, but the website has problem with my shipping adress and I don't know what to do. Thank you one more time and stay this passionate about music and positive and nice! (excuse my english, i'm at the beginning and I'm still learning)
Thanks for your comment! It was my first time ever putting up download links that way and it would appear i made a mistake. Please try again and let me know if its still giving you grief! Thanks for supporting my channel!
I love guitar, but having short fingers complicates things. I would likely need a 3/4 or a kid's to actually play one right. Love singing Floor's part and throwing in 3rd harmony though :)
Not bad, but there's a few notes that are wrong. You also have entire chords that are just flat wrong. I'm assuming you weren't trying to do a direct cover and instead a variation?? That would explain all the mistakes and whatnot.
So you have become a member of the Nightwish Army, maybe it is time to take a trip down the foxhole. If you are interested in new things give Babymetal a listen. Good place to start is "Give Me Chocolate:

Absolutely fascinating. Hope you will do more of these. Thank you so much. You might also enjoy their rendition of "High Hopes" with Marco singing.

The orginal song is in Drop B and the live version is Drop C, this song use the low string as a pedal note in many parts
That was really cool. Ive been known to torture a piano now and again with my meager skills. Maybe I’ll take it up again.
Cool. I started to teach myself this one, and this helped clear a few things up
Nice job!!!
Thank you so much for doing this video!

You are so welcome! Ok lemme see what I can muster from my notes haha ;)
I suspect the original tuning to be:
C#
G
E
B
F#
C#
Well this version here seem to be based on the studio version (C#) . the Tampere live version is actually higher (D)
It's in C# standard for the studio version. Consequently, most Nightwish songs are in D Standard, so I imagine that it was Marco's desire to not have to retune that beast that caused him to keep it in D.
Thanks a bunch for this.
I took my acoustic the moment I saw the video. I m a rookie but I think I got it. Thanks

Thank you very much! I do have one suggestion. On the second triplet you do D, E, D, then a C#. May I suggest D, E, D, then a B?
Light at the end of the "world" resolves on a major at the end of the chorus. It's a pretty cool twist.

Really nice you have it pretty close to the original. For sure would have helped me if I played guitar

Hmm. I thought Marco played it partially fingerstyle.

Marco resolves on the B# minor on the intro.
