    They had one there about a year ago I should’ve jumped on but maybe with fuel prices as they are it’s probably good I didn’t. What you bought would be what I’d look for. 6NZ Cat with 13 or 18 speed is good combo. Cat is spendy to repair but with fresh overhaul you should get miles of service.

    I was up there last week (18May) and I agree…. I sure wish they had better detailing in the interior…. Lots of rough smelling trucks! Torn up, nasty seats and beat up steering wheels! I agree about your assessment, tons of trucks, lots of used old trucks…. Tough to know how much work n money it would really take to get many in OTR sleep in it ready. Cullen was my sales guy and Karen was my finance POC… great experience for me plus, just didn’t pull the trigger cause afraid of the current economic, fuel and freight situation… I do think they are gonna start dropping their prices soon! oh yeah if you go up, and stay at the Holiday Inn Express, say do and you get $99/night rate plus taxes. I am refinancing my home and plan to pay cash for a used pre-emissions W900 with 3406E or 6NZ C15. You say they aren't negotiable on price? So plan on wiring finds or do a cashiers check? Did you take your truck to a local shop to have them help look it over before buying or you just inspected at their site? What kind of insurance did you have on it to drive home? This is awesome to hear someone else do exactly what I was thinking of doing

    • @ProjectToyota

      That's awesome! I went with the 6nz myself and have loved it, can't go wrong with either. They told me that they don't negotiate but I'd still advise you try, if not price then something repaired or replaced. And yes you can take it or have someone come to do pre purchase inspection. Which is definitely a great idea. Good luck and do your homework!

      @@ProjectToyota Is there a local shop in Ohio you know of where I can take it to and have them help spot problem areas? I am into classic Mustangs and Camaros. Once you take title to a 20+ year old vehicle, those problems become your problems to deal with. Then again, by spending $70,000 on an older truck instead of $250,000 on a new truck, you have funds for repairs.

    Their trucks are over priced and are junk. I bought one and had to get it overhauled a yr later.frame also rusted out under the bunk. They won't even fix dot violations before you get the truck. The won't spend any money on the truck unless it's cheap paint and chrome polish. They will not negotiate anything on the price. The won't even wash the frame before they paint them, just paint right over all the dirt or mud. It's a shame what they ask for their trucks because they are not worth it.

      @@Imhairforyeaux_75 I don't expect a show truck with low miles for a cheap price. I expect an old truck with alot of miles for a fair price. Not an old truck with alot of mile for an unfair price. I can deal with an old truck with maintenance issues at a reasonable price. But lipstick on a pig. They can save the paint job and the chrome and invest the money into to making the truck mechanically sound. I don't get paid for looks I get paid to make it from point a to point b. I had to fight with them just to fix a cracked windshield that was a $125. The 5th wheel slide didn't even work and them fixing it was part of our agreement but when I picked it up guess what, they didn't even fix it instead they gave me a $100 check for the part🤣 they are cheap as hell . I've ran into a number of people that bought from there and it's always the same thing. Lipstic on a pig that is over priced. I had a pto tank behind the cab and when I removed it there was a 2ft by 2ft square of different color paint that was old 🤣. they just painted around it. For a socalled new paint job and they will not even remove that off the truck to paint.He'll I found a flat head screwdriver under the valve cover but I'm sure they didn't do that because out side of an oil change that's all the maintenance their trucks are gonna see. Truck drivers are spending their hard earned money on these trucks and are made to think that these trucks are going to make you at least a lil money before they crap on you but don't be fooled. I'm not picking on ya bud, but what you had leaking on the test drive truck was not a main bearing, but a rear main seal, and the X15 is the newest model cummins today, not pre emission. Now, this is just me, my opinion, but I believe these guys paying 70 to 130 grand for a 1.5 million mile truck, rebuilt or not, is just plain stupid. It can not cash flow. I became an OO in '17, payed 40,000 dollars for an '05 W900L. In the year and a half I owned that truck I put between 20 and 25 grand in that truck, which I thought wasn't terrible, but wasn't great, I've heard alot worse. Point is, i couldn't imagine paying 90 grand for that truck and dumping said repair money into it. Year and a half, tilte in hand, sold it for 47, put 50 down on a new 19 studio W900L, just picked up my new 23 a month and a half ago with 4 year 500,000 mile warranty and this truck was half payed for the day I picked it up. I don't know, me, I'll stick with the new end of things. Now, I agree bud, I fixed alot of repairs on the '05 myself, or the bills would have been alot worse.

    • @ProjectToyota
      @ProjectToyota  2 года назад +3

      Yes I definitely misspoke, about the leak and isx, bad part of just pressing record I guess lol. Time will definitely have to tell if this truck can cash flow. So far so good, the payment is 1250 a month which is very affordable. So will have to see how she holds up maintenance wise. Congrats on the new truck that's great. I'm worried about things like dpf sensors shutting down trucks for months or the upcoming def shortage they are talking about. Everything that I went wrong with my freightliner was after treatment. It's still nice to have none of that.

    Poor business decision. If you are buying truck that old you should be paying cash. And have enough in reserves for major repairs. Otherwise keep your cheaper, more efficient freightliner. You'll have a lot more in your pocket at the end of the year. If you are driving for fun buy whatever makes you happy. If you are driving to support a family buy what will put more in your pocket at the end of the year.
