I'm about to move into a flat with grey lino flooring everywhere and I was wondering how I would decorate around this, and then you uploaded this! It's like you knew 🤯 perfectly timed and well-explained as always!
Great video, Reynard! These tips are great for someone like me who is looking to rent and my options are limited to those commercial leasing companies who absolutely LOVE gray flooring and paint in their units! 😌
I have a dark silver wood grain floor. The 4th choice you listed to identify which one it is. Man… I’ve been living in my apartment for 6 years now and always wondered why I couldn’t stop trying to fix my interior design choices. I got it to look… ok. Someone with an interior design degree absolutely loves my apartment. But I love natural and warm color tones. And I could never get it that way. This place doesn’t get a lot of light either… so it’s always pretty depressing in here regardless of what I do! Edit: even after doing everything you can do with the paint and wood tones, grey floors STILL look terrible in my opinion. At least wood styled grey floors. Concrete or stone looking floors is different, but still not the best choice. I’m glad I found this video though. Helped me make a pretty big decision to find a new place. It’s crazy how colors like this completely alter how you feel day to day. I go over to my girl friend’s house, which has a light toned natural wood floor, and it feels so much more cozy, even though my place is much fancier and expensive.
I’d love to give more than one like to your videos. So incredibly helpful - not just blabla captain obvious points but incredibly good advice pressed into a couple of minutes with super helpful visuals. Love love love it.
I don't like grey, buuut I just moved into an apartment with light grey bedroom carpet and grey vinyl planking throughout the remainder. I have found that I do like it much better than off white or beige. Beige can tend towards pink , yuck. My walls are a slight off white tending to warm. So it's not bad and I def prefer grey as a neutral to beige.
I live in a 50+ year old house with beautiful original concrete flooring that is more like dark grey. It's beautifully imperfect, but can sometimes make the space look dark and cold. I already have a palette of warm wood tones, warm white and other grey furniture in place to offset the flooring. It would be great if you can make a video about concrete flooring too, and share some tips.
I like gray because it's calm and relaxing while being able to work with many other colours. However, I agree that overdoing it can be a poor decision. Gray furniture and walls that are a different gray colour can be nice, but there needs to be something else in the home to provide a little contrast and add a little variety.
How would you decorate with genuine antiques (1820 dining table) among others with other pieces mixed in? I have an emerald green Charleston sofa, white Barcelona chair - more eclectic I guess. I love dark wood with emerald and coral shades. I love blue-based colors but not in my floors.
any recommendations for free to use interior design websites/applications? doesnt need to have the whole suite of features, just need something basic! thank you
According to some of the pictures in the video I have a grey floor with warm undertones. But I think my floor is brown. That is what I like about it and why I bought it when I moved 10 months ago. How confusing. 🤔 Well, I still like my floor. And I have different woodtones as regards my furniture. So I think my house is still cozy and pretty. Irma from the Netherlands
Nice Can you please make a video on the wooden interior room. I have been thinking about having a wooden cabinet like room so can you please make a video on that topic.
When I picked my laminate, I wanted to use it throughout the house. The big box stores only sold the blue grey colored floors. I have existing naturel expensive grass cloth on the walls which is in good condition so no sense in removing that. I brought a sample home and it just made my walls look dirty and contrasted too much. I searched high and low for rustic finish. The perfectly finished fake cherry or walnut flooring was stupid because it is obviously fake. Pushing fake laminate to a luxury finish is going too far. I finally found a grey with lots of brown. It was deeply discounted because nobody wanted it, that wasn't the trend. This looks like an old worn finish you would find in a barn with all the imperfections but does have half browns. I was lucky. He is right about the warm light will mitigate the blue color only at night. Also use lots of rugs with a small amount of the grey but mostly tans but are not darker or lighter than the floor. A small amount to pale colors add interest, but don't go overboard. Also a little coffee color works well.
It sounds like you're saying gray is fine as long as its natural wood? There are hardwood thst are gray toned.i see alot of white oak floors with a taupe gray undertone going into homes. Also people will get tired of white walls and everything off white furniture as well it's just trendy now
I know this is very individual and a matter of opinion, but grey floors are so ugly. At least in America. Like who ever thought grey floor with pink or green tint/undertone would ever look good?! Yuck! Just stop.
These are excellent tips for someone that doesn't want to take on flooring replacement, but is tired of their current gray levels
Highly professional presentation with concise explanations.
I love grey or tan/beige walls and floors.😊Neutral colors are calm and orderly. you can always add pops of colors here and there.
Maritime white!!!! i did that on my walls, makes the grey floor look better

This is so timely! I've noticed my home turning a bit more and more grey, so this is definitely needed 😅

Wow that chest of drawers at 6:12 against the grey made my eyes hurt. You really nailed the illustration of what not to do! Lol

I have a feeling that at the last moment you decided to wear your gray sweater.
Would've done the same, lol!
Yes I did!
@@reynardlowell Lol!
Please suggest wall color for a living room which has large green sofa
Paint your sofa the same colour as your walls but a slightly different shade
I never understood grey as a decor colour.
How about black couch, will it make the room inviting?
It's better if the room is not too inviting coz the guests might never leave
Add color accents in accessories.
I had to do the reverse to tone down my color accessories. More peaceful now. 😂
LOL I just painted my renter gray walls to a nice warm white YESTERDAY
Nice

I live in an student apartment and the grey floor and white/ grey/ black furniture i own is a real problem. (Have no money to buy new furniture
I don’t recall when it happened (5-7 years ago?) but here in the U.S southeast when they decided to get out of beige and grey they created greige. 😂😂😂
