Used this for a fun arena battle mission in a DND campaign. The players were sent on a mission to kill a underworld crime ring lord and it turned out that they were hosting a underground fight tournament. I'd also like to give major kudos to Mr. Christopher Larkin of Hollow Knight fame; Im grateful and appreciative for the quality, depth and beauty instilled in their respective soundtracks. Mr. Darren (with the gorgeous Ms. Ashley supplying the vocals) along with Mr. Larkin have easily won me over.
ignore this flame comment but happened so deal with it. i type something filled with happiness (it's my fav soundtrack). even said how i learned about bastion. then the next song plays... BAM gone. rant over.
Asterius is quite possibly my favorite boss in this game, honestly. The way his fight opens up with the galloping buildup of his theme, and the fight itself is lots of fun.
Theseus and Asterius were my first, and biggest, total brick wall. It took me like 6 good runs before I finally got their number. And still, I was thoroughly pleased about that fact.
The beginning at least is the DOOM theme in the style of Hades music with some two or three notes changed... As a fan of both soundtracks, let me say this is excellent buildup to the second part of this song. OOOH, the electric guitar part. Shivers down my spine. Excellent as always. Here's hoping the gameplay will be just as exhilarating as DOOM's!
Darren Korb is such an absolute LEGEND. I literally cannot imagine a better theme to accompany the Champions of warrior heaven. Man makes it look so effortless.
It starts great and then it gets EPIC in the second half, more rock-oriented. Awesome stuff!! I still gotta pick up the game but I'm sure it's amazing!
That beat-drop or whatever at 3:57 literally gave me chills as i was listening to it on my way back from the gym, and i had the biggest grin on my face the rest of the walk home. Awesome soundtrack!
4:00 since when Darren Korb plays/features electric guitars, drums and heavy metal/hard rock tunes? I love his soundtracks, but as a heavy metal/rock fan - this is GREAT. Is he doing those guitars ? Or brought other players on board and just compose/arrange?
he's done multi-instrumentalist ever since bastion. there are some heavier riff in bastion and particularly pyre features a few heavier tracks such as thrash pack and knights of the sea.
fighting with asterius makes me super happy he's a great mentor. and it softens the blow for when theseus cuts off a polite greeting with fightin' words because ofc he just has to, all the time
Theseus got some punchline before the fight though. Everytime I'm literally saying to Zag "Daaaamn, are you letting that guy diss you like that? That was brutal"
You know i love takes where the Minotaur isn't a bad person or a compelte animal or something. Also i like his friendship with Thesus... dude is a blowhard for sure, but if there's a sign of a Hero in the guy after all of this... it's in Asterius.
I love how it takes over half of the video length to get to the "fight" portion of the song, since the "talk" part can ostensibly go longer than any other part, because Theseus is such a clod 😂.
The sound of my palms sweating on the controller as a massive Minotaur chases me around a coliseum and I can’t think straight because all I hear is the roar of the crowd and the taunts of Theseus
Hey Asterius, how's it hangin? It is well, short one. But we must deul, for our encounter was inevitable. Yeah, let's get this over with. *Theseus starts talking* *AGGRESSIVE DIALOGUE SKIPPING*

Man, this track practically brings me into a trance whenever I listen to it. The whole soundtrack is amazing; it's difficult to pick favourites, but this one is definitely up there :D .
Hey I recognize you... I love your keyboard content!
@@travistran6868 Thanks mate ^^ .
same! too iconic
This and the Exalted are my top ones
It's so neat how when you pause, it's muffled. All of the songs. Like it's happening right beneath your feet but Zag is still trapped under there
A lot of people hear E1m1 in "out of tartarus" but I hear it more in this one
The riff at 0:14 and 3:55 is just pure dead brilliant.
I can't stop listening to Supergiant games's soundtracks
How can there not be one weak song
I've been asking myself that since Bastion came out and I still don't have an answer.
I will say the song surviving Exile in pyre is weak because it is so good it distracts me from reading. You have to pause reading when that Riff kicks in.
@@Justagamerhere1 to me that's the spine from transistor, but i get you!
Simple: Darren Korb is a muscial God. x3
@@Justagamerhere1 So the song's too good for the way it was used, that's actually hilarious.
Used this for a fun arena battle mission in a DND campaign. The players were sent on a mission to kill a underworld crime ring lord and it turned out that they were hosting a underground fight tournament. My players entered with the goal of getting close to the crime lord and killing him. However, he caught on to their schemes and in the last round leapt down from his comfy watching spot to join the battle (and thats when I changed the music to 3:50 onward C:
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Epic 🙌🔥
The theme of Asterius and notHerakles.
I honestly love how Theseus is seen as a generic superhero-like character, from his constant use of calling Zagreus “Blackguard” to him riding a chariot with freaking MACHINE GUNS attached to his hands.I honestly cracked up the first time I saw him(and of course, they kicked my ass afterwards).
2:58 when the fight gets serious
6:38 when the fight gets *TO SERIOUS*
Actually you won’t hear the acoustic version in the fight
In the name of Hades, Olimpus, i accept this masterpiece
LORD [INSERT GOD HERE], LEND ME YOUR MIGHT!
Such a cool fight, thanks Supergiant for making another great game with a great OST
@PioneerShark Well, you can't exactly call Artemis a "lord", now can you.
Lady Artemis, *GUIDE MY HAND!*
3:55 that transition give me goosebumps. oh my Darren.
Theseus: "Get ready to be vanquished by my righteous spear, blackguard!"
Asterius: "No holding back, short one."
I was not expecting how intense the latter half of this track would be. My new jam
When Darren Korb writes metal genre music for Hades, does that make it *death* metal?? 🤔
I mean, the theme for Hades himself is literally death metal, so in that case you wouldn't be wrong. lol
Theseus giving his signature look of superiority after being crushed for the 50th time
Hahaha
Cursed fiend! You thought you could steal away and enjoy what doesn't belong to you? *gasp* Our anthem of battle, no less? A stain on the ground will be all that's left when we're done with you! Asterius, attend!
not the same without the crowd cheering, the bull crashing into pillars, gods throwing in blessings on both sides and that obnoxious BULLHORN
and the rolling chariot wheels, maniacal laughter and machine gun fire
At Dooms Gate
@Ethan Good Hello! I'm surprised you remember my channel haha
At Bulls gate
Hey wouldn't it be cool if like pyre when you fight Asterious alone he got a unique rendition of the song like half of the instruments are his and the other half's Theseus' that could even work in the actual boss fight
Based on the NoClip documentary I kinda feel like Thesseus was an afterthought. Internally they called it "the Minotaur fight" pretty much right up until launch. I think you are, in every way, supposed to not think much of Thesseus.
@@bradoliver9324 Until you make the mistake of thinking: "I'm gonna kill the little guy first, he's probably weak", like I did when I first met them lmfao
That would be hype af but i don't think it's gonna happen lol
@@gManGabe without the bs shield Theseus would be the easiest boss in thr game
@@MrAskmannen He IS the easiest, but the first time I fought them, I targeted him first and had to deal with him + Asterius + the gods.
Finally defeating the Hydra gets us somewhere, doesn't it?
Darren is on bar with Jesper Kyd at creating music that captures the souls of the game along with the guys behind DS/BB of course
Don't forget about Jeremy Soule (WH40k: Dawn of War, Tes series - Morrowind, Oblivion and ofc Skyrim, Guild Wars)
Excuse me sir! Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Mick Gordon?
A couple of the main names you're looking for in regards to From Software include Yuka Kitamura and Motoi Sakuraba.
ignore this flame comment but happened so deal with it. i type something filled with happiness (it's my fav soundtrack). even said how i learned about bastion. then the next song plays... BAM gone. rant over.
Asterius is quite possibly my favorite boss in this game, honestly. The way his fight opens up with the galloping buildup of his theme, and the fight itself is lots of fun.
2:33 both Hades and Halo prove that 12/8 is truly the time signature of the Gods
Theseus and Asterius were my first, and biggest, total brick wall. It took me like 6 good runs before I finally got their number. And still, I was thoroughly pleased about that fact.
4:00 Actually felt like I was Doomslayer himself when heard this while using Adamant Rail
BULLHORN! (Thank you King Theseus)
Am I only one who hears the DOOM theme?
Sergey Sarkisyan Nope :)
Doom indeed
Nop
RIP'N TEAR
It’s like someone married E1M1 with BFG Division then gave it that distinct vibe only Supergiant Games manifests.
3:55 plays in my head anytime I see big open rooms and I love it
Darren Korb is such an absolute LEGEND. I literally cannot imagine a better theme to accompany the Champions of warrior heaven. Man makes it look so effortless.
IF YOU SMELL WHAT THE KING IS COOKING
It starts great and then it gets EPIC in the second half, more rock-oriented. Awesome stuff!! I still gotta pick up the game but I'm sure it's amazing!
its very cheap man !!! what are you waiting for ?!?!
@@Makkavic I knowwwww, I might spare some money for it soon enough!!
It's pretty addictive, only just got it myself
"Short one."
That beat-drop or whatever at 3:57 literally gave me chills as i was listening to it on my way back from the gym, and i had the biggest grin on my face the rest of the walk home. Awesome soundtrack!
Real title: The Himbo and the Sweet buff minotaur.
Theseus is the type of dude to play a lawful good paladin and break his oath 5 minutes in all while shouting "DEUS VULT!"
4:00 since when Darren Korb plays/features electric guitars, drums and heavy metal/hard rock tunes? I love his soundtracks, but as a heavy metal/rock fan - this is GREAT. Is he doing those guitars ? Or brought other players on board and just compose/arrange?
All done himself. He featured as part of the latest No Clip documentary and you can see him playing the guitars/drums on it
he's done multi-instrumentalist ever since bastion. there are some heavier riff in bastion and particularly pyre features a few heavier tracks such as thrash pack and knights of the sea.
Hades is the Metal Hell Greek Odyssey ost, and I'm all here for it
Pyre had some simple electric guitars in the Dissident's themes, and Bastion has some guitar mixes
fighting with asterius makes me super happy he's a great mentor. and it softens the blow for when theseus cuts off a polite greeting with fightin' words because ofc he just has to, all the time
Darren is a real maestro!
Asterius and his pet twink
My dog turned into Cerberus at 4:00
The specific riff at 4:15 and onward sounds like At Doom’s gate which I love
TWO BROS SITTING IN THE ARENA
TWO FEET APART CAUSE THEY'LL FIGHT YOU
Theseus got some punchline before the fight though.
Everytime I'm literally saying to Zag "Daaaamn, are you letting that guy diss you like that? That was brutal"
Red Shade Fan best character, let's be real here. Wish you could give nectar to him even for no reward whatsoever, best ghost deserves it.
If The Painful Way is the Only Thing They Fear is You, then this is Meathook.
You know i love takes where the Minotaur isn't a bad person or a compelte animal or something. Also i like his friendship with Thesus... dude is a blowhard for sure, but if there's a sign of a Hero in the guy after all of this... it's in Asterius.
3:56 "COME, ASTERIUS! LET US RIP AND TEAR THIS FOUL DEMON OF THE DEPTHS, AND BANISH HIM BACK TO WHEREVER HIS WRECHED KIND SPAWNS"
3:30 till the end has to be one of the best ost music in any game I've ever played
"Back, foul daemon, or be vanquished even faster than you've come to expect!"
Good job with the consistency of the updates! Keep up the good work! 😁👍
Ah yes, the O&S of Hades
Snorlax has all the chill. He swiped it off of Pikachu.
3:59 at doom's gate
I love how it takes over half of the video length to get to the "fight" portion of the song, since the "talk" part can ostensibly go longer than any other part, because Theseus is such a clod 😂.
Its allways interesting to see the theremin being used in music
Literally replayed Doom 1 a few times through like two months before I started this game... how did I not notice the E1M1 intro!?
You gotta love the constant doom references.
I sense the Doom Slayer is near...
The sound of my palms sweating on the controller as a massive Minotaur chases me around a coliseum and I can’t think straight because all I hear is the roar of the crowd and the taunts of Theseus
That 4:00 intro is a total headbanger.
That, my guy is at doom's gate
While i was playing for the first time the only thing i could think of while i played was "There is no way thats 4/4"
Hey Asterius, how's it hangin?
It is well, short one. But we must deul, for our encounter was inevitable.
Yeah, let's get this over with.
*Theseus starts talking*
*AGGRESSIVE DIALOGUE SKIPPING*
that bit at 3:55 put a big ass smile on my face the first time I heard it
4:42
*RIP AND TEAR. UNTIL IT IS DONE*
3:55 is the official "this is it" moment of this song
3:56 OH SHIT
Darren Korb you genius
Astereus and Theseus 🤝 V2
Two bosses with an unexpected and extreme increase in difficulty (imo)
They sometimes can result even harder than Hades ngl
