Manassas brought out the best in Stills. What a super group. Every song is a story in itself on this album. Been listening to this since 1972 and it's 2022 now, still astonishing, still groundbreaking goodness, still Stills. The syncopation in the middle of this song is the best of any Rock song ever.
I also believe that Manasas was his best collaboration. As I do with Eric Clapton's forming Derick and the Domino's. Both Country Folk Rock with a splash of the Blues! For me, it doesn't get any better than this.......
The Manassas debut (double) album should be considered one of the top 10 albums of the 1970's. It certainly is among those of us who follow music. I recently conducted a survey on Stephen Stills Official asking fans their opinion of the best song on the album. The Treasure was 1st followed closely by ALL OF THEM.
The Treasure is indeed awesome! If you search, there are half a dozen or more demos and prequel videos. It evolved over the years to be the masterpiece it became.
I wonder if they’d showed this at Glastonbury this week what the response from those brain dead morons in the audience would be 🤔Hugo talks used a clip of some ‘singer’ pro abortion shouting mother/fkr all the time 🤮🤢🤦🏼♂️.music industry is certainly dead.
1972 Manassas double LP. I bought the vinyl as soon as it was released. It immediately blew me away and still does. Never get tired of any song on it, and I’ll listen to it til I croak
One thing I noticed after some careful listening is that Chris Hillman sings harmonies on ever song but one , Johnny's Garden . This contribution puts the album over the top and into " great " status . His voice adds a lot to every song .

One of the "Selection of the Month" albums sent to me by Columbia back in 1972. I'm so glad they did. The music blew me away. To this day I consider one of the top 20 rock albums ever, and Stills best work.
An amazing band (50 years, then as now) and an amazing and important album across the genres in rock. How blessed are we to have these videos of the music that jumps boundaries even now. Thank you Stephen Stills and Manassas.

Steve Stills: Which Wah pedal, Vox, Cry Baby, other? Whatever he used on Super Session's Season of the Witch was the best. Maybe same pedal as this one?
@@mixaliskokkinos1496 Peace! I love "Stop". I love that who Bloomfield side. It's some of MB's best recordings ever. What are you talking about ? He knew he was a major part of this supergroup and the harmonies he pulls off with Stills are fantastic . It must have been filmed in the morning if you were referring to his look of boredom .
If you don’t play guitar you are in no position to judge Stills - I love his music, but he is a complete hack. I could play better by the time I was 18.

Well said Gents - two best ever albums are Layla and Manassas
What a lineup! And all playing at their peak. I don’t think anything he did afterwards really could compare to this.

Stills is one of the most underrated guitar players in rock!
Maybe to someone born in the '90s or later, but those of us who have been around a bit, put him at or near the top...

Yes indeed, I've had this copy of Manassas for 23 years and they could just as well toss into casket
And here I am, listening to it again in 2021. It was in the late seventies when I came across this album for the first time.

Think you are almost right. Despite all the "psychedelic gimmicks" in the background, the image does justice to the band's music.

Saw Manassas in ‘73 at Tanglewood, Mass. Great show lasted over 3 hrs bring your own beer and weed for 3.50 lawn seat
Top 3 album in my life. This level can only produce one diamond. It was very much Stephen Stills project. Golden!

Outstandingly amazing...such a great band with great songs, versatile musicians and powerful drive. These cats can swing!
Dallas Taylor just added so much to everything he did with Stills. A rock solid metronome with that same sense of syncopation that Stills had.
Remember this album from my college days 1972. Double record album. Saw them on tour summer ‘73.

Stills was always a fantastic wah exponent..Jimi Hendrix certainly was a big fan of his earthy style and approach to his guitar work..
Stills on the wah-wah was the best IMO. Better than Hendrix even.
And Stills was very much a student of Hendrix. He would carefully watch Hendrix play guitar and learn some of his riffs.
Just phenomenal. What a band!
Brilliant! Still love it, after all these years.
man oh man Stills is cooking!
Excelent performer...as always.

Beautiful, perfect, thanks,.

Besides his great guitar, his high plaintive voice was very distinctive.

Stills is one of the most underrated artists of the 20th century. He also shot himself in the foot, just the same as his CSN compatriots.
A bunch of great musicians. What a great group.

buffalo Springfield and manassas , I mean what a history he has, even Aric Clapton has said he is a outstanding guitarist and song whiter .
Imo Stills is a more competent musician and writer than clapton.
I have the dvd. ‘Lost broadcasts’ hard to find now.there was also Blodwyn Pig but that’s impossible to find.
Great sounds
So good !
