Aside from not many buying these, they won't be priced for the average person to afford em anyway. It's not saving dodge, it's putting it in the ground.
They will sell enough. It's flashy and will get attention. It looks better than a Tesla (though it's not a better value out of the gate). I think Dodge will iterate on it and improve it over the first 2-3 years. Many current EV drivers will like it. Some EV drivers are purely pragmatic, but not as many as you might think. Vanity sets in very easily among car buyers. We're all human. If everyone else you know is driving a quiet, practical, cookie-cutter Model 3, then this will be very appealing. Maybe not for the muscle car crowd. That's fine. The V6 has tons of power, and I'm convinced a V8 option will appear after a couple of years. Pricing may be a point of contention though. They have to at least stay competitive with Tesla to some extent.
I agree you remember the 85 and 87 chargers. Those might’ve been a major flop but they were gas savers. They had four cylinders. I prefer those back then then the new ones that are coming out.
Nice looking car. When or if they offer it with a V8, let me know please. Until then, I'll keep my Challenger. I wish Dodge luck, but I don't see this doing as well as they think.

Well, hell it’s electric dammit but it’s too expensive. Come on what the hell are you people doing? You forgot who the people were that bought your cars! The blue-collar are not gonna spend 70, to 80 thousand for a charger! Just put me totally out of the market for a muscle car now what am I supposed to buy, a Civic😂! Out of touch is an understatement. I’ll just bet after the first few people buy them, they are gonna be a paperweight of epic proportions. They’re just gonna sit on dealer lots, of course if a dealer only gets two or three maybe they’ll sell, but if the dealer fills their lots with these things like they did their other chargers they’re gonna be sitting there collecting rats.😂
Let's don't. I'm a petrol-burning guy through and through but sooner or later we're gonna have to get used to these things. The 5.7 is a 20 year old cam-and-lifter-eater that's had a good life but now it deserves to be retired. If you'll wait until next summer you can get the 550hp SixPack, a twin turbo inline 6 that literally transforms the 2025 Ram that now offers this engine. Much quicker, smoother and more fuel efficient than the current 392 Scat Pack (one of which I currently own) and with a $50K price tag it's about what a 392 Hemi ScatPack costs. The only thing you lose is the V8 snarl and yeah, I hate that part. PUH - LEEZE, Dodge - no fake exhaust sounds for either the EV or the gas models. At least give people the option to turn it off. The EV Scat Pack is priced right where the gas Hellcat was priced, and you get a car that performs right alongside the gas model. No surprise here. If you don't need that much performance wait for the 420hp gas versions which are $40,000, not much more than current V6 Chargers. So do I like it? I'll have to see and drive one for a few days first. But that phony exhaust HAS to go.
I mean just look at the rep…. Dude probably drives a Toyota Camry to work talking about muscle cars etc…. Or a Subaru Forester I wouldn’t even be surprised if he drives a Tesla lol.
This is a cool car. It might be a disappointment for true muscle car folks. Fair enough. There will be options for ICE muscle car people, like me, down the road. But this will bring in a lot of new people to the Dodge brand. A lot of current EV drivers will want this over a Tesla, and it's flashy and novel and there's always a crowd that wants to stand out. I will give the ICE 6 cylinder a close look. That's a lot of horses and you can get a V6 to sound really good. No doubt there will be people doing v8 engine swaps as well. I also 100% believe a V8 option will be there a couple of years down the line. They just want to push the EV for a couple of years alone to get it established. Also, Challenger will return. Mark my words. That won't happen without a V8. Hang in there mopar crew.

Dodge has created a compromise-mobile. It’s not a good muscle car, and likewise it’s not a good EV. Those two groups of enthusiasts don’t cross-shop between the two period. It is missing ALL the important bits muscle car enthusiasts would be looking for, and adds all kinds of gimmicky crap and a vroom vroom noise maker in that quest to please muscle car enthusiasts- which makes it an inefficient, noisy EV (two things that will cause EV enthusiasts to not even consider owning or leasing one of these). A major reason people like their EV’s is due to their quiet nature, and extremely smooth power delivery. Dodge put an “E-rupt” transmission to mimic shifting. Vomit. So the muscle car enthusiasts won’t touch these things because they’re NOT muscle cars, and because it’s a poorly-executed, compromised EV, these Chargers won’t gain any traction within the rapidly growing EV market(even in the US with a depressed automotive sales market, 2024 is still on track to see EV sales increase over 2023 by more than 20%) Dodge won’t be benefiting from that growth with this thing that’s for sure.
Aside from not many buying these, they won't be priced for the average person to afford em anyway. It's not saving dodge, it's putting it in the ground.
