I just got my first bike, a 1991 Honda Shadow. I want to take as much care of it myself as possible. Thank you for your insight on a typical maintenance.
Thanks for the video. My grandfather passed away in 2016 and I've recently decided to restore his shadow 1100 aero. It has been sitting without being started for at least 7 years now and the oil and gas definitely need to be replaced. With any luck hopefully I can get it running.l
My best friend has been a old school Honda mechanic for the past 34 years and since there older bikes he always runs castrol 20w50 in every Honda cause 10w40 is too then
Hey, what’s up! I also have 1995 Honda Shadow 1100 And I’m going to change the oil for the first time and I would love to know your opinion about engine oil! Is that any big difference between 10w30 and 10w40 and what type should I get for this bike? Thank you tho!
hey are you sure you're suppose to measure the dipstick while the bikes upright? kinda seems weird they would have you measure it while sitting on the bike instead of having it on the kickstand for accurate reading.
Hey man, wondering if you still had your Shadow 1100 and how you like the bike. I'm looking at one at a local dealer. The bike looks good and only has 9,000 miles on it.. it's a 2004 and was owned by an old guy who was getting to old to ride. The dealer wants 4,500.00 for the bike...a little more than Kelly Bluebook. Thanks for sharing and any thoughts you have on your bike.
It's got new tires on it and the forks seem fine. It has a windshield and a short sissy bar and back rest, and crash bars/ engine guard. I rode the bike and it seems a little bit heavy. Maybe the price is a little bit high. Thanks.
@@CruisersCorner It was a stock seat, but it has Vance and Hines pipes. No it's not my first bike. I'm 67 and started ridding when I was eleven. I've had several Hondas, two Yamahas, a Suzuki, two Harleys and one Kawasaki. They've all been street bikes.
This is a really good video. Thank you for taking the time providing clear steps and in a great, fast, no fluff way.
Thank for stopping by! Glad you liked the video!

I have recently purchased an 1100, getting ready to do maintenance, thanks for the video.
Just got this same bike same color same year 37k miles for 1200$ rebuild carbs now runs and rides great
Plain and straight, very good.
Good clear video quality. Thanks
Gonna change Rhonda's oil this week!
I thought I was the only one who called their vehicle “Rhonda” lol
If I remember right ,its not advised to use full synthetic oil in the Honda's,as its possible that the clutch will slip
Мотюль 7100 10w40 не Лейте, будет буксовать сцепления
Great video - would you be able to share the link to your torque wrench and wrench extension? Hoping to buy the same set :)

Sorry the video isn't detailed enough. Maybe online I remember the tabs were tricky.

How did you like the synthetic in comparison?
Its good, shifting is a little smoother.
I have a 95 Honda Shadow 1100, 10-40 should be okay to use right?
so how was the oil? Synthetic worked better?
It shifts a little smoother.
What about the crankshaft oil
Change every 5 oil changes.

I bought mine for $4000 CAD with 3500km on it. So that is a bit high… how are the tires? Forks?

@@ambu6478 does it have an after market seat? Or driver backrest? Is it your first bike?

@@ambu6478Japanese are the best for quality. I’d say the bike would be a good deal for $3500.
