Many, many moons ago I worked at Wendy's. The chili was made with overcooked burgers saved from the day before, chopped with a metal spatula. Prepackaged Wendy's chili mix with everything dehydrated in it, and water. That's it. Fast food chili made simple. Your version looks much better. I may try it!
I've heard different stories about how they really make it and I believe you are right. I worked at McDonalds and after that you would be far more worried than Wendy's. lol I don't see anything wrong with Wendy's putting leftover burgers in the fridge for chili. I mean at least the beef is fresh and not frozen. This copycat version tastes like it and at least the veggies are fresh. :-)
It drives me crazy how none of these copycat recipes use frozen patties..... where are these people eating? Very bowl of Wendy's chili I have ever got has that the triangle corners from the frozen square burgers I thought everyone knew Wendy's chili was made with leftover burgers.
@@Amandahugginkizz Why would someone choose frozen patties when making it at home? I always thought they used the leftover meat to but my ex swore that when she worked there they rarely used leftover meat because they didn't let the burgers sit for hours and when they did the meat, it had been on the grill not dressed as burgers... Plus Wendy's brags about never using frozen meat. lol
Your chili looks much better than Wendy's. Since working remotely, I rarely eat at fast food joints and restaurants. I just got a deep fryer for my fries and cook at home. Working and cooking from home is a dollar saving game changer. Going out with friends to dine is an event nowadays. More fun!
I really like the way you make this Wendy’s chili better. I looked at others and some add tomato juice and tomato paste. Some add vinegar, some add sugar. I also heard that the beans they use is kidney beans and red beans not pinto. I like pinto but I think I will try the red beans the next time. I really like how you cut your vegetables I learned something from you on that. I like the touch of butter too. I subscribed to your channel so hopefully I can learn more! I made the chili your way and I really like it better and it does taste like Wendy’s chili!! Thank you Dano!!
have you tried adding a bit of smoke to your chili? that might push it closer to wendys' version. oh. and some sugar. It was definitely sweet, when I tried it.
If you want Wendy's Chili... you missed a few things. One, it should of been two cups of beef broth instead of one cup of water. Add 2 tsp of ground cumin, 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper instead of the Jalapeno, and 3 tsp of sugar. I have been making a Copycat of it for years now. Took me two years of experimenting to get it right. People have tasted mine next to the real deal and can't tell them apart. So just try that next time and see what you think.
I don't know. maybe you should try this version too - people have told me this is spot on too. ;-) lol Maybe next time I might try it except for the sugar. thanks
As I am writing this. I am making your version of the Wendys chilly I didn’t put in chills or chilly powder though As I have twin girls and I want them to talk to me later Lol I have listened to and looked at others on RUclips, but once again Your version I have found easy to follow Well done again
@@WanderDano yes it did turn out very well thanks to you Well done, for the simplicity and ease of how it was easy to follow your instructions How have you been and how are your furry children doing especially with Vinnie’s diabetes please I miss seeing kek and vinny in your videos
OMG!!! LOl!!! You finally got to see and use some Cutco knives!! I want a set so bad but I'm not going to sell my house to get them. They are pricey. Be warned. Look them up on line. Chile, cornbread and tamales are our go to meals when winter camping. :)
TIP: I boil my ground beef. It breaks apart easily, and the fat drains off when the beef is poured into a strainer. This helps reduce your calorie intake if you're dieting. .
Is there something wrong with using the beans not drained or rinsed...surely the juice couldn’t be that bad🤷🏼♀️... be like the soup you would have after cooking them at home...I would like an explanation if somebody can answer that please and thank you👍🏻😁
Everything I have always heard is that it is a salt issue. If you want to cut out salt, rinse beans. If a recipe says NOT to rinse it is usually because that will be where the salt comes from or sometimes the liquid is needed. :-) Hope that makes sense.
@@WanderDano Yes it does 😁👍🏻and thank you for such a nice reply👌🏻I can think of all the good juices when you are cooking the beans, but there again you are controlling the salt👍🏻thanks again for replying ... good answer👏🏻
@@mountaingirl1797 That is just what I have been told, so I can't guarantee. :-) When using "real" beans you usually have to soak and then rinse but when buying cans that has already been done.
@@WanderDano well you made a healthy dish of homemade chili and the Wendy's chili sauce is not healthy. It has corn syrup in it which is very unhealthy but to each his own.
@@bettieblack4752 The next version is going to be WAY healthier... Vegan Wendy's chili... I agree about corn syrup but I'm not gonna worry too much about the little packets compared to how much corn syrup most people consume. lol
If you get the skillet HOT first, crumble the meat before you throw it in, and scrape and break it up fast as it cooks, it'll be fine textured like Taco Bell meat. If you like it like that.
This is gonna be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than any chili Wendy ever made! Note: I was at a cooking demo at Xcaret Mexico and saw a Chef chop the tip of his finger off! It changed me. Ever since that I always use a chopper to chop rather than a knife.
If you watch much of my cooking I tend to cut things differently each time. lol In this video I was trying to do all the knife skills "technically" correct. :-)
