The reason these videos are so good is because you guys talk substance, important issues. Not the fluff about food, food, and fun. You guys can be excellent ambassadors for the DR to banish the myths, lies and misconceptions. Maybe the issue of the Haitians is urgent too to be straightened out. Blessings and keep up the great work Norberis and James!

Not to mention the food is great. From the street food to the little mom and pop restaurants to the higher end ones. I cook very well and have been to some of the best restaurants in New York, LA, Miami and more. Santo Domingo has some great eateries. And I’m from Philly and we can compete with anyone. African American Soul food, Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Cambodian, Indian, Caribbean, Vietnamese, Cajun, South and Central American. You name it, we got it but Santo Domingo has most of what I like.

NYC and LA have diversity because of the many ethnic groups but most of that food is trash 😂😂😂😂. Been going to both since the early and mid 70’s. There are some great places to eat in both but Santo Domingo has great places to eat 90% of the time. And I’m a gringo so don’t think I’m a Dominican Republic nationalist that’s capping too hard 😂😂😂😂

From my perspective as someone who is born and raised in the US and lived in DR as a teen, i believe that people think all Dominicans are poor because most people that leave DR leave for opportunities elsewhere. Wealthy Dominicans don’t travel to the US. They travel to Europe or sometimes to the US only to shop or visit…. There’s also the Dominican like my parents who moved to NYC in the 60s and worked and made their money owning supermarkets and restaurants, etc and then moved back to DR. I lived in Santo Domingo in Arroyo Hondo in the 90s and attended a school that is no longer in existence, Instituto Yodi in Arroyo Hondo. My parents were wealthy in DR but campesinos. There is a difference in the type of wealthy people in Dominican Republic. In Santo Domingo there is more of a Eurocentric culture within the wealthy. En el Cibao, there’s tons of very very wealthy campesinos…. 🤷‍♀️ ❤❤❤. Thank you for your positive content

@@NorberisR Yeah its always interesting. Now i work from home but when i had to go in the office I had to have dress shoes all day so sandals give me freedom. As for the socks, i like the fresh air. It is funny when i went to the barber shop i looked the odd one out with toes out as brothers say but if they visited Africa people would find it hilarious that someone had socks on while wearing sandals. That is why people who have never left where they are from will always have a not so complete persepctive because their views are limited to the little they know around them.
I had a Chinese roomate in college, it was about 6 guys from all all over Saudi Arabia, India , China etc and once he was cooking for all of us. All of a sudden he was pouring sugar, i was shocked until he explained to me that is where sweet comes from in Chinese food. Even though i visited China before i did not know this.

The only visa options that are available is fiance visa or you two get married and get a spousal visa. Other visas such as work and visitor visas are very difficult to get. As far as how the process work for these visas I'm not sure. You would need to contact a lawyer.

Being from Alabama myself looking at you two gives me hope too find something real truthful in the Dominican Republic when I get a chance to visit. Fist 👊 bump to your husband talking about the 👠 vs sandals 🩴. I understood what he was saying even though I haven't even touched the Dominican Republic yet. I want my first trip to be Santo Domingo ,Santiago, and other places like LA Vega and etc. The only thing I want to visit in Sosua is the famous Flip Flop Restaurant. I want to begin my comment with this - I enjoyed this video very much and what your husband was saying is on point - I live here in Santo Domingo Centro and he's correct about several topics - First - I would like to add to what he says about Dominican women particularly here in Santo Domingo - from my experience the women here in Santo Domingo are nice - many are conservative in the way they dress and carry themselves which is a good thing (in my opinion) they don't wear clothes that show a lot of skin but they don't dress like nuns either - most women work at banks, super mercados, claro, alltice, bravo, restaurants etc..in other words they make their own money which is also a good quality - second - regarding safety - how could anybody not feel safe when there is armed security of some type everywhere and I do mean everywhere like at all McDonald's KFC's Pizza Huts, EVERY bank 24/7, pricemart, etc..in addition to all the levels of the national police from the police on motorcycles openly carrying automatic weapons to the military at the Banks, on the beaches, at the malls, you name it....they are there - third - the food prices - the grocery store prices are just about the same as they are in america(a little cheaper depending on what you are buying) and you are right...the food is much cheaper if you buy locally esspecially chicken from one of the many pico pollo resturants and the colmodos - even though I live here and have for a while I still learn a lot from your videos - it is very much appreciated - peace

I just left Santo Domingo this past Thursday and got stopped twice by corrupt cops on motorcycles while I was driving a rental car. Valdez was one of the cop's names who was a complete idiot. They didn't say why we were pulled over and searched our bags and my pockets. He found a half-smoked cigar and kept saying it was weed and wanted us to follow him to the police station. After my passenger told the cop that pulled us over that she was a police in the US he had a whole different perspective and let us go. I can't believe how bad it is over there. I did have a nice time visiting restaurants and lounges but the driving in Santo Domingo is beyond crazy. No one can drive or respect the traffic lights.

That's hilarious.🤣😂. My husband isn't a local and the his car windows aren't tinted and he's never been stopped. And yes my windows are tinted very dark. If these police here are hard up on money as to why they stop people what would you say the police in the US are hard up on that kill at a traffic stop? I think to die at a traffic stop is more of a shame than buying a cop a $3 lunch. But that's just my thinking of that's really the case.
