really enjoy all your covers Russ. One thing that I've realized is how tight you are on the drums. Drives the songs without being too overbearing, just solid as hell! Awesome!
1969, what a great year and great memories! The line in this song, "Seasons change and so did I, you need not wonder why" helped me break up guilt free with a boyfriend in whom I had simply lost interest for no specific reason. Then I met my husband, it was love at first sight, and he 'popped the question' two weeks later. Five children and 12 grandchildren later, we are coming up on our 52nd anniversary. Finding the Russ Willoughby channel here was another case of love at first sight! I can't say I'll still be here in 52 years, but I'll be coming back as long and as often as I can, listening, watching, and enjoying all his amazing talent and music over and over again.
Really neat.......... retired lawyer.....age 69.....commenting from outside a very small town in an extremely rural part of the State of Mississippi, USA
@@Conflicted100 Sorry David, it is *MY* favorite !!! ;-) My sister is 8 years older than me and she was listening to that album when she was in her late teens and Guess Who were pn the carts... I think I eventually purchased my own CD and it always reminded me of my own teens when I picked up them guitar and I was practicing several songs on that album.... Nice memories ! That cover is well executed and is extremely tight despite the number of tracks....... Awesome job !!! 🙂
@@danielsauriol I have been listening to "No Time" by The Guess Who practically every day since I first heard it in 1969, often listening to it repeatedly in one sitting. I can't explain why I love this song so much. The arrangement,. The syncopation. The trill of the guitar when they sing "No time for a summer friend...." I can even describe in vivid detail the moment I first heard it. I was 12 years old. The next day, I ran to the store and bought it on a 45 RPM record ("Proper Srranger" was on the B-side). I've analyzed in my mind the sound of every note by each instrument. I lip sang it during out Senior Follies in high school, and while working in the snack bar at Scout camp one summer, every Friday afternoon, I would jump on top of the counter and lip sing it like a rock star for fun and laughs. I was thrilled when a band sang at at my senior prom. If you ask my friends "What is Dave's favorite song?" they will say "No Time". I have numerous Guess Who albums on CD and vinyl. My favorite version is the one from the American Woman album, though I love the versions from the Canned Wheat and Let's Go albums very much also. Having said all that, I agree with you that this is an excellent cover version of "No Time" and the best cover version that I've heard.
When I say you nailed it I mean, bass, drums.rhythm guitar, lead guitar, lead singer, harmony singer. Usualy it's the singer who nails it,you do all of it.OMG great work
Wow, another amazing note for note pitch-perfect spot-on cover, Rust!! You do any and all of these classic cover songs justice, and you are so true to not only the sound, but the spirit of each of these songs… Your combined lead and background vocals are perfection and as I’ve already said on some of these videos that I started to watch after accidentally, but luckily finding you here on RUclips yesterday, your musicianship is second to none… And I am so glad that there’s a treasure trove of all these wonderful covers and performances to plow through, and I am having so much fun doing so… You’re the best!! 🎼🎤🎸🥁🎸🎹🎸
Absolutely love this song as it reminds me of the 60's and 70s'! I'm impressed with the video, your voice and musical talent. Glad this was recommended on utube!
One of my favorite things to do is find well done covers and you have given me a treasure trove of covers so far being done well. Great job I wish you a successful endeavor!!!
Not only are you very talented Russ, but the amount of WORK that goes into your videos must be very time consuming. On behalf of everyone here who enjoys your channel, I'd like to say THANK YOU for these wonderful covers, your efforts are greatly appreciated!
Damn Russ, freaking amazing! I remember you sharing all of these amazing cover songs on your Facebook timeline. And when I tried to like them on RUclips I wasn't signed in and couldn't remember my password at the time. Then today I was on RUclips and noticed that was signed in, I clicked on one of your songs and again was transformed back into time. Your covers are going to live on forever as some of the best ever. Congratulations man. Very impressive!
I do this song in my band and I’m the harmony ear guy who teaches parts to everyone. So I liked your harmonies they all sounded extremely close to the original . I so appreciate when singers get the harmonies correct, and for you to be doing it all is pretty impressive .
@@russwilloughby501 also if you like, unless I shared already, a big much of guys I grew up with wete all musicians started playing around same time, about a dozen of us from same neighborhood, each year we put on a free Concert in park kinda thing. @@russwilloughby501 There’s lots of great Guess Who songs too. Like These eyes, or Laughing , etc Personally I love, Shes come undone, with some great chord progressions and vocals.
Bravo!! Great job on all the instruments and harmonies! My favourite Guess Who song, and was one of my favorites to jam as well.. with a great big double length guitar solo in it and a doozie of an outro as well. Stellar job my friend.. adding this to my favourites!
Once again, nicely done ! When I was a young man I could sing this stuff. As I get older it's getting harder to find songs within my range. Keep up the good work.
I noticed you play open handed on the hat and snare. Good for you. I'm left handed with a double bass pedal, my hat and snare lean right actually. And the toms go high to low from right to left. I also play guitar right-handed because I was a poor kid, and right-handed is what I could afford. The theory I know from it... I love the Guess Who! You earned a subscribe from me!
Thank much for the comment, Gerald. Yeah, I'm left handed, too. I learned drums and guitar on right handed instruments, so that's the reason for my set up. I do have to have my ride on my left hand side, though.
I'm really enjoying your videos, you're talented and it's unique the way you split the screen showing you performing all the parts. I also like how you add the interesting bit of background on the songs.
As someone who also tries to reproduce songs and make them sound extremely close to the original, this version of No Time has to be one of the best covers of this song I’ve ever heard! The only diff between you and me is that I can’t play drums - I reproduce drums with a keyboard! You’re a very talented musician Russ! Music really does make the world a better place! Peace Out
Like the others listeners already mentionned, that was really well done and all the tracks are in sync !!! THe singing is amazing and I always find pleasing to the eye to see stacks of guitar cases and drums stacked in the background !!!! Kudos to you sir !!! You definitely have all of my respect!
