Every time I visit Tahoe, Eagle Lake is the first hike I do to acclimate myself and my dogs just a little bit. It's funny you included that duck in your footage as there was a duck (the same duck?) at Eagle Lake in early June when I was there that my dog really wanted to meet. :D

Maybe the same duck, that would be cool. It is a great hike to start with to get used to the altitude.

In the this wilderness area you need it. It is free for daily permits. The permits are right at the trailhead
