    Made both of the changes (throttle limit and curve) and my Tiny Hawk flies much better! Thanks for the tips!

    Great video. I do that to my son's RC cars too. So he don't have all the speed till he gets use to the car or truck.

    Lee: Hello from the USA and Happy holidays. I watched this and was hopeful you could answer my question. Is it possible to set the throttle rates to a 3-position switch? Like 100% 75% 50%?
    Thank you in advance for your response . Ber Herr

      You can, there are options in Betaflight to do it that may be a better bet. You can scale the throttle and also setup that 'expo' using throttle expo settings too..

    I hate to refer you to other RUclipsr's videos, but Joshua Bardwell has a couple of very good ideas for this subject. The method he explains in his "Tame your throttle, Part 2" is particularly effective. Using the sliders to provide variable limits is very slick. The video has an omission that he corrects in the comments section, so you have to read the correction, but once you have done that it works perfectly.

    Is this any different than changing the output settings to -100 and 40 for the throttle channel instead of changing the input scale and offset as you've shown?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  4 года назад +1

      That'll work but without the calming effect around the hover point. Happy flying!

    I have a Eachine racer 250 with a Spectrum AR600 Rx & Spectrum DX8 Tx. This drone has a "twitchy" (erratic) throttle that renders it almost uncontrollable in a linear throttle setting. At take off it springs up rapidly despite efforts to coax the throttle gently & then (gently) reducing throttle it hits the ground hard.
    I've tried to tame the beast by adjusting the throttle curve exponentially progressively from 0% - 100%. When "Active" is enabled the copter will not "arm"...dead throttle! Reverting back to a "linear" throttle (non expo) the drone arms once again & goes into it's usual tantrums. Also the #4 motor is slow to spool up but suspect the Electronic Speed Control (ESC) to be the culprit. Would appreciate your thoughts on how to tame this beast!

      If the model is designed for racing them the hover point will be low on the stick. Expo works about the middle channel position do probably isn't helping. See my video on limiting the throttle... Best of luck

    Hey big P. Can you limit the the panic at controls and keyboards that renders me useless at flying and gaming. :)

    Thanks for this. I’ll try it on my ET115 so I can use it indoors. Currently in my small apartment, it is too fast. I’ll probably make a new model in my radio, like “ET115 IN”

      I'm aiming to do the same exact thing, make my ET115 v2 Indoor "friendly". Did you go Betaflight or update the throttle curve in the radio?

      John Whalen just used my radio. It worked great. I duplicated the model on my Taranis. I now have an ET115 and an ET115 indoor 😉

    Thanks for the tip. The greatest trouble I have with the throttle is with drone simulators. e.g. Liftoff and Velocidrone.Can you please help?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 лет назад

      The same tricks using the radio should work with sims if there isn’t an option to change the model characteristics in the sim.. best of luck!

      Don't think they let you limit throttle (velocidrone allows limiting propeller power, or limit with your transmitter), but do allow a throttle curve. This allows you to better manage the smaller tracks with a powerful model. Try Throttle MID = 0.3 (or whatever the hover point is) and Throttle Expo = 0.5 on a smaller, tighter track. I even like a bit of expo on faster tracks where I'm often at 100% throttle the whole time, since quick dips in throttle actually drops to a lower throttle % with less movement of the sticks.

    I know I'm in the minority, but is there anyone who offers info such as this for Spektrum radios? I know there is some,but it really seems hard to find. I started with fixed wing and that's the path I took, I'm new to quads,but limited in finances.Would prefer not to purchase new radios. If you could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated. Your videos have already helped immensely. Thanks in advance

      Sadly I don't have any of the modern Spectre and radios that I can show it on. Luckily, the stuff in betaflight works irrespective of the radio you have. Best of luck and happy flying!

    My 270mm quad is hard to maintain hight. Not sure if the battery is too heavy or what but very small adjustments during 5ft hover can result in 3-4ft drops. Thoughts? Specs below..
    270mm, 2204 2300kv, 5045 bullnose props, cc3d w/afro race ESC.

      At what throttle value does it hover? If it's not hovering just under 50% but needs a lot more then it's underpowered and too heavy..
