- Thrifted Vintage Fills Estate Sale | Where to Find Antique Bargains
Goodwill is the origin of a lot of what we see in the first part of this video! Sourced from a defunct thrift shop (whose owner picked Goodwill for years), we sift through a selection of mostly vintage and antique collectibles, figuring out what should go to our shops and shows…and what should stay for the upcoming estate sale.
Items from three estates are being liquidated in the estate sale, being held the last week of June to coincide with Kentucky’s annual Highway 41 Yard Sale! The estate sale is near the midpoint of the route, 150 miles of communities where sales of anything a reseller or collector can imagine might turn up.
Since this is a real liquidation, we take a thorough look at everything that’s up for sale (or at least that was unpacked when we filmed!). Now it’s time to price these items back at thrift store prices, so resellers can get things wholesale and take quantity. We have a lot more people who want to send items to sell, so all must go!
Here are some of the items we see during this unloading and staging event:
European box, Navajo sand paintings, Syroco birds, Somerso vase, Denise Ford for Ganz vase, Frankoma political mugs, sgrafitto elephant, walnut man, Indiana carnival grape pitcher, Minnie Mouse figural, Italian wine cooler, Trifari pin, Khokhloma lacquer, Delft Blue decanter, fountain pen/stand, Exxon commemorative, English tile, hardware display, Noritake Yale dinnerware, bottle cap display, 1910s carnival glass grape bowl, Michael Cohen tile, 1930s silent butler, Mexican mollas, Whiting & Davis handbag, B. Makowsky handbag, vintage hats, Thai brass flatware set, 1950s chenille blanket, Fox and other 1920s prints, Haeger 1970s orange bowl, raku buffalo fetish, Shawnee windmill, 1920s peacock tray, Native American and African baskets, Franklin Mint eggs (as seen in Serial Mom!), vintage pipes and lighters, paper ephemera, vintage breweriana, vintage to newer cameras, lenses, plates and equipment, wall map, games, Frankoma Christmas and Bicentennial plates, Native American stone tools, Western Americana and decor, Lenox lady figurines, Abingdon wall pocket, Japanese slot machine, Tea Leaf Ironstone, Peter Terris for Shenango, vintage kitchenware, vintage linens, dinette set, Syracuse and Metlox china sets, depression and uranium glass, etc.

George you are truly a gem 💎 💖. I wish I knew half of what you know.
You are too kind!
What a grand sale.. wish I was there
Absolutely LOVE all the info you give out on all pieces you show us!
I realize you are a businessman who sells vintage and antiques, but more importantly you are a good person who spreads knowledge and as you are proving who helps others. You are good karma!
Well thank you, Cheryl! I believe it's possible to be both of those things.
Yes, thank you!!
That was a book full of info in just 48 min!!!! Lot to take in. prob need to rewatch few more times.
By all means! I try to say what I see
the blue noritake dishes are very pretty.
Hi George, cool store house. Always enjoy seeing your pieces 😊 you sure fit lots in there, mt word ! 😅
Yes Georgie really has been very helpful for me I started buying to resale and I had not posted any thing because like George I found thrift stores I am done with Goodwill even buying for myself it's just gotten so bad I did look up auctions and I found Goodwill auctions really so it pay to be the upper crust,I have been visiting a Christian thrift store there is a bit of clothing but there nice and fare so I bought some nice sleepers for 2.00 a pice
You know so much and am I am so happy to see your videos! And…molas are from Panama and Columbia. Mexico also has fantastic textile art. 😊
Me too 😊
Great video Georgie!
I don't want to lose you, but someone is going to sweep you up for tv. They gonna give you a show and Wham-O, bye to my fave!
Well, I certainly would be surprised and pleased if that happened, I'm not sure how easy that transition is?
The problem is the producers would tell him what to do 😞
😂💥👍🏻
You can unwind and get excited all at the sane time and I have some fun catching up to do...thanks. You are fabulous and what a fun and great thing to do for everyone..just wonderful...thanks. I loved your hat modeling. I would LOVE to get there...thanks George.
I'm just so happy to be able to be of service! Maybe we'll see you here someday
@@TheAntiqueNomad It will be a wonderful blessing one day..
George , you're a total blast. Such a nice command of the facts. The Frankoma story is fantastic. Thank you.
Thank you kindly! Glad to share
You have an infectious personality and it really come through on camera
Aww, thank you, I'm glad my enthusiasm shows!
WOW, that is some collection for sure. I would be having too much fun there. I would need some funds but not a lot to buy some of the things I seen. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me I find it very informative when I step into the thrift stores, especially on glass ware. You have a great day
I really want people to get to see and experience the fun things I do in this antique and vintage world, I'm so glad it's helpful to you! That was quite a collection for sure, I'm still selling some of those items
Thank you George! I wish I lived closer!
Me too!
The bottom of the fish plate at 5:41 looks like canvas because the clay was rolled out on a piece of canvas either by hand or more likely run through a slab roller. The slab of clay would then be put in a mold to shape it. I'm not sure if they cut out the fish shape before or after placing it in the mold.
That makes sense, a fast way to do it
George is getting Lucky in Kentucky!
I feel lucky!
Love your videos!! Learn something new with every video. I appreciate you and the time you put in your channel.
Loved the video George! Wishing you the best of luck on your sale 🌞
Thanks so much, it was fun!
Hi George, hope u are well
I would love to see a before and after the sale video. Like a recap and review. That would be interesting
Noted! If I ever can get things put together before the last minute, I"ll work on a before and after
The greatest prices I have ever heard from a reseller!!! That proves the great person you are!!
Well, it's also relative to the needs of my clients, some have time to liquidate and some need it fast. But thank you, I do try to be real about pricing for the situation!
Wish I was close enough to come by... Thank you for showing everything!
Me too! My pleasure
This was fun to watch.
Thank you! I had fun showing it
The variety at your sale is wonderful. Gosh your prices make me want to drive down from northern Illinois. You are one hard worker George!
Thank you! I had people from southern Illinois and Michigan come through it was fun
What a fun video
What a great guy
Aww shucks! :)
George, what a fabulous stash at your estate sale! Wish I was there! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching! I'm sure there'll be more in the futue.
Now I know that what I have is a "silent butler". Mine is very ornate & very pretty, but I had zero clue what it was. Thanks for being the Bringer of the Answer. At 29:04, the dog dating to 1910 I SO wish I had been there to buy. ** Heavy Sigh ** At 30:07, I saw an old black & white photograph of an event with lots if round tables & was curious as to what event it was.
I think that was a bottling convention if I recall correctly
That was simply amazing and You will be really busy George. I loved every single part of this episode !!!
I’m so glad! We’ll see how it goes this weekend
You are going to be so crazy busy!! I wish I could come over from Washington state.
Hopefully I'll have an estate sale there again this year, now that they're starting to be able to happen again
THANK YOU GEORGE❤️❤️ i heard you say This ( "you better have The BEST one ,The CHEAPEST one or The ONLY ONE " ) yesterday and used it today when out shopping in regards to EBAY ...is this the best? cheapest? only ? nope nope nope PASS ON IT
Excellent! I think that will help you from scary death pile accruement like I’m facing now
What a brainiac about antiques you are! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!! Love you!! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm glad I have something you enjoy hearing about!
Hey George, Frankoma is still making the political donkey and elephant mugs as special editions. The 2021 glaze color is periwinkle (my favorite color).
Hi there! I was pleasantly surprised by your message, there'd been talk that the people who bought their molds were going to start issuing new pieces but I didn't realize they had. I'll have to check out that glaze, periwinkle is a great shade!
Great video. Just found you today, came over from Crazy Lamp Lady. Would you consider slowing the scroll on the text down a little? It's hard to look and read. I hate to miss anything!
Hi, Jenna! I've only recently heard the script has to be adjusted if you're viewing on a phone? I agree the script could be slower sometimes too, it looks different on my laptop than on tv for example. I'm really glad you commented, it's great to meet a new viewer and I really think a lot of Jocelyn so I'm sure we'll all have fun together!
Would have loved to have been there. Can only imagine what treasures you uncovered in the hoard. Saw so much I would have purchased! Wish most of the estate sales in central FL weren't into the retail pricing or hold all the good things for their themselves. I understand they are in business to make money but I really don't appreciate being spoken down to when I'm not willing to pay their prices. You did not mention a dollar amount on anything that a reseller could not make a decent profit on. Thanks again for all the info.
Agreed they forget who the customer is sometimes! I held a huge sale in Winter Park and people bought a ton because it was priced Right
I personally had the dovetail set of the lane coffee table, two tiered end tables and another rectangular end table. I loved it so much.
The honail pitcher is by Hobbs Brockunier from around the late 1880s and is very collectable. At the right price I would've gotten that. Love your vids btw ❤
Love your hat & tiara try on!! Very handsome!! Thanks for your videos!!
👑❤️🎩
Lol I don't know that it enhances me but it was fun! Thank you for watching
!!!!George!!!! Can you tell us what town you are in? The midway point of the 41 yard sale has lots of little towns, I don't want to miss your amazing sale.
Earlington, just south of Madisonville. Hope to see you here!
Love the chenille bedspread too!!!
I haven't had any for awhile! You textile lovers have snapped up so much of the good old stuff by now...I don't blame you!
I do love the oval door light. I’d pay jumbo money for that to be placed in an upstairs bedroom Wall But I don’t have jumbo money. Dooney and Bourke purse is a wonderful style! They last forever. Always a classic.
I want those horses!!! 🙌🏻
I like those too, never have had a place where a glass door light was appropriate but maybe someday. Dooney & Bourke does seem to outlive everything else!
Hi George, have a cookie jar lid from childhood. Mom saved it cause she lived it so much. She broke the bottom but couldn't part with the lid. She has recently passed and I have re-discovered it. Been told it's Gilner. In all your travels, you are my best bet.....
I know you must get a lot of this, but I'm desperate to find the bottom. I have only seen 1 picture in pink, but ours was yellow......is there somewhere I can send a pucture?? It would mean the world to me. Love your videos, love the knowledge, you are amazing in your knowledge of history.
Please send to me at theantiquenomad@gmail.com! I don't see Gilner cookie jars much at all, but if you send a pic I'll definitely keep my eyes out for you
You’ll have a great sale….the brass elephant is really nice & the wooden Minnie Mouse is cool…good luck
Thanks, Rosa! I sure had fun doing it
Oh! how I wish the estate sales in my area were priced that low on the first day. I have to wait until the last day of the sale to get prices like yours and by then all the good stuff is gone. lol!
Interesting! I didn't realize she was still such a thing. I'm a dumb guy about that stuff, I only knew of her originally because a neighbor worked at their Seattle store
Great finds.
Thanks I hope someone else agrees!
@@TheAntiqueNomad I’m sure they will. I think you are going to have an empty house by sat night.
WOW!! Good luck!!! I wish I was there!
That ladies face vase is just up my street !
Yes, I absolutely agree, I was drawn to that type of decoration and color when those were new
George, this is crazy. I watched this video this morning and for some reason the comment about the $9 Weller stuck in my head. I went to an estate sale and found, you guessed it, a 14" Weller vase marked at $18 but because it's Sunday it was half off. So I got my Weller for $9!
Wow! Isn't that funny? I am happy for you to get a nice big piece like that for such a wonderfully low price
OMGosh, would love to come to that auction!
It was fun but there'll be more!
great video♥️
Thank you!
Ohhhhh I love the Blenko!
I do too! It needs cleaning so it's going to be cheap
makes me want to get in the van and start a long drive to Kentucky!!!!.....Those are great prices......hope you get flocks of bargain hunters with big smiles and less cash in their pockets.... traded for the best finds in the state!
I"m hoping it makes a lot of people happy and clears a LOT of stuff out for me.
I LOVE the butterfly lamp. I've never seen that before! Wish I was going to your sale!!
Me too!
Hey George! I was having a lot of buffering on this one. The European pressed wood box is a nice one. I like that sort of thing. The carving on that Indian brass elephant is super-nice. That green Carnival Glass bowl is really pretty. The green pieces usually bring more than the other colours. That one looked like Dugan's "Heavy Grape". I have a chenille bedspread an elderly friend gave me. It's from the '50's. I like that frame the $10.00 1920's print is in. I've actually thought about starting a collection of vintage handkerchiefs. Some of them have really nice patterns on them. There were a couple of those pipes I really liked. I liked the frame the flapper girl was in, too. There's enough there to browse for days! That should be a great sale!
I was having that trouble at first too, it eventually stopped thank goodness. I also find the green carnival does a little better. I liked the frames better than the pictures on a lot of these, hence they're up for adoption this weekend. It's funny, I have a customer who loves hankies and I never thought much of them until I saw how she shadow boxes them and uses them in interesting ways! Thanks for watching and we'll have (hopefully) some trips to some areas with some upper-end collections soon
I’ve seen embroidered handkerchiefs used to create wedding dresses on a special greetings cards
Wonderful George video to Share with friends. Simply click Share Arrow & email or text video to them. Lots to see and learn
I need friends like that! How fun for you! Thank you for sharing your finds. Safe travels.
I'm sure fortunate that way! Thank you for coming along with me
Wishing you wonderful luck at your estate sale George! This was a great video and all of us who are not close enough to attend sure wish we could. It looks amazing! I adore all those amazing Native American baskets, I imagine they will all be gone because they are wonderful! I imagine most of that stuff will be gone it is all really great stuff! Again, wishing you all the success in the world, you deserve it, you work so hard and your heart for helping people is a lovely thing to see ♥️
Thanks so much! That is really kind of you to say. I like the stuff but the people are the reason for it
I sure wish I could shop your estate sale. Looks like a lot of fun stuff! I always learn something new from you, thank you!
I'm glad! Thank you, perhaps I'll have one near you someday
Luv cucumber sammwiches
The silverware was awesome I bought a box to put one of my sets of silver j got from grandma ❤️❤️
I have a boxed set of my own! I'm a big fan of using the silver, I use my flatware daily
I sure wish I knew you where on here when this sale was going on
There'll be another one at my storehouse this June!
I remember the lie detector game! You’ve got a lot of great stuff. I wish you were closer. Good luck with your sale!
Thank you! It was fun to see that game again after many years
Hi George, thank you for sharing this wonderful diverse collection; I would be at the sale if I lived closer. you might need multiple cashiers to process the sales. have a great week.
Thank you! It was fun to help ferret out her best items to bring. I hope you have a good week too!
Will this be for sale on ebay?? Love the costume jewelry
I soooo wish you were doing this sale in FL!!! I would be there in a second!!!!
I did a few in Tampa/St. Pete this year, and I've done in Miami too! Have sale, will travel :)
Greetings from FISHBURN Co Durham , WOOP WOOP CHICKEN SOUP , Love and peace ,Carl
Cool! Glad you caught this
wow! fantastic prices. I'm sitting here in New Zealand wishing I could be at your sale. All the best for the sale. I am sure you are going to make a lot of people very happy.
Thanks! It was a lot of fun. I hope to get to NZ someday
I’m still drooling over that Wedgwood silver biscuit jar! If it didn’t sell I’d love to buy it from you!
Please email me, I think I had two and only one sold! theantiquenomad@gmail.com
Wauuu ....i could loose myself in these rooms
I did a few times myself! :)
I hope Jefferey et al are able to come to take advantage of your sale prices !
Barb did!
Would love to see what's on those old reels☺
Well, I noticed one very graphic 1970s cover and a bunch with very risque (and now politically incorrect) names. I'll leave it at that
All I need is $1000 and a ride to Kentucky. I am waiting! I think I will still be waiting come Monday! Good luck and I hope you clean up!
Thanks! You too!
It's going to be a great sale! I'm one State over (albeit, far to the west) and wish I had made plans to attend! Hope you sell all.
Next time! I'm sure there'll be another there eventually.
I’m looking forward to meeting you this weekend and treasure hunting! I just found this estate sale today online and added it to my itinerary!
Fantastic! I look forward to meeting you. I hope (and am certain) there are wonderful things along this route, Hwy. 41 goes through enough population
Your killing me! Oh how I’d 💖 to go to your estate sale! I love SO much it! Lucky sale for anyone! Wonderful set up also! Good luck with your sale and thanks for making me jelly! 😂
Thank you! I hope perhaps I'll have one near you sometime
Hello, from @mjanejewelryfindings I am a new subscriber. I heard a lot about you and how knowledgeable you are on a lot of things as far as vintage. Sure enough, you are. Hoping I can learn from you...😅
Thank you so much! Please tell your friends, it's fun to have everyone get to learn along with me
I wish I knew sooner about the sale.
I'm sorry about that! If you're near enough to the area (or any of the three main areas where I sell), add your name to the email list, I"m at wkyestatesales.com
That box of recipes. I inherited one with flowers. No value. Dad got gold stamps and no value. Very little gold on them. Went thru half of mom's costume jewelry and had them baggies of lots for $1. Goodwill got most.
Wow! That's interesting. You must live where women just don't wear the costume jewelry, I priced contemporary no-name pieces at $5/each and sold about 50 of them! I wish I'd have been able to help you.
I was FREAKING OUT!! BEAUTIFUL THING'S your sale is going to be AMAZING!! Wish I could attend. I will just live through YOU. This was such a GREAT VIDEO!! ❤ LOVE YOU
Thanks! I sure hope so, it's time to let go and gather elsewhere.
Love the costume jewelry!!! the Betsey Johnson stuff is cool! ....why do I like the jewelry so much and I dont even sell much. LOL
If this sale was near me I would clean it out! Especially the glass. That Blenko bottle is drool worthy. Looks like it could possibly be the tequila sunrise line.
It's my favorite shape of Blenko decanter! It needs more cleaning than I'm willing to undertake though
If I get my tax return back in time, I will definitely find a way to add you on to my trip! What great deals you’ve got!!!!
@39:48 How much will you be selling that white with pink trim plate with the kitty in the middle?! 🥰🥰🥰
Hi there, I'm afraid I already had a request for it but will let you know if it doesn't go through
Oh ignore my comment, just now saw date of this video!!!
Much success to you. New sub..
Thanks and welcome! I hope you have fun with me and the channel, new episodes every Mon/Wed 7 pm Eastern and you're welcome to hang out in the chat if you like
George, you are artistic, intelligent , i wish I had a small piece of your brain. I bet your mom brags about you all the time.
You are really kind to say so, and yes, she's been supportive all along and is a viewer too!
I’d be buying anything with a human face as a vase or bowl or decorative piece I love that sort of thing !
I think you will be part of a collecting vanguard soon, in that case! I do expect 1990s vintage animated head/face painted pottery like the Denise Ford/Ganz piece to be the next phase, it's been 30 years since 1990 after all!
@@TheAntiqueNomad my most popular earrings in my Etsy shop are a pair of hands based on a Victorian gloved hand so body parts do well !!
When you say you have to "research" an item, do you use the internet only or do you still rely on books? Lots of fun George, I'm dizzy!
I mainly use internet but not exclusively
I'm looking for some of those pieces
Hi George! Silent viewer and fan here:) I wonder if you would be willing to ship any of these items for those who can’t come to your estate sell? Any pre buying from this video? Thanks for sharing your knowledge by the way. I have learned so much from you!
If I still have it, it's for sale! Please email your request to theantiquenomad@gmail.com, it's too hard to keep up with them via comments
In Holland they use gouda as shooting targets its wurth nothing haha if they dont have goude they use delft
I'm sure there's a lot there still, but it's really popular in the states again
🥃 New drinking game... take a shot each time you see something from your past during live chat videos 😆 I’d better have a bottle of milk or else I’d kill a bottle of tequila before halfway through! 📸 George ya need to model those hats for a calendar photo shoot before they all sell! 👒
I would buy a calendar!
Loving that idea!
@@TheAntiqueNomad Both drinking & calendar I hope. 😁
I need your help. I have a short black, maybe jet facetted glass beaded choker style necklace. On the clasp it says made in Austria. On one side it has a flattened bead, it really is something. How much is something like that worth? Sorry, but I love it, and don't want to sell it too cheap. Lol. I would rather you have it..
Hi! Your description sounds like the type of jewelry that became popular around 1950 when hair styles suddenly shortened. To prove something is actual jet (Whitby England coal) requires testing which can be abrasive and ill-advised if you're not sure how. Presuming yours is glass, it would then depend on design, but likely under $40 retail.
Ken and I are really sad that we are already signed up to do a market this weekend and can’t attend your sale. Ken is drooling over the cameras! 🥲
I have more! If you folks get out this way, look me up then. I hope your market went well!
I mentioned that vase in my last posting, I truly love it! Anyway to contact you? I know you have eBay but not sure you are selling it there. Very interesting items, even Minnie. Thanks George.
You need to email him about the item you were interested in, his contact information will be in the description of this video. I would email him and tell him exactly item you want and make a good offer,I assume he gets a lot of emails so putting your intent in the subject line might be a good idea. For example very interested in fill in the blank for the items you were interested in offer enclosed.
Hi there! I'm having trouble keeping up with everything so I apologize, I didn't see that. Which vase is it? If I still have it, I'm glad to send. Please contact me at my email, theantiquenomad@gmail.com
@@Kathryn4268 thank you very much for the info, very kind of you.
Hi George
Hope you had a successful sale. I might be near you around July 5 and wondered if you might be open for customers then. If so, what are the hours and address?
Hi there! I will be here 7/5, send me an email at theantiquenomad@gmail.com and we can figure out particulars. I won't be open to the public but you're welcome to come see
Holy Cow 😱 Did I miss something here ???? I was watching a video where you went 8 hrs to a ladies home and brought what you could back in one load . This tour of estate stuff did NOT come from that trip !!!!!!! And you mentioned you could have done another sale from this one estate on more modern stuff!! Was she a seller ? Yeah that's it she had to be a seller. I'd love to be a buyer and go around and buy all these things at bargains BUT It takes a very dedicated hard worker to get all of it sold 😵
Is Delft valuable, George? I have a oh about 6 inch tall pitcher/creamer
It depends on the piece, but it's mostly modestly priced unless rather old
