    Switchfoot recently released a 20th anniversary version of the album this song is from (The Beautiful Letdown). The first portion is a re-recording by the whole band (a "Taylor's Version" kinda thing). The second portion is covers of each song by different artists! So cool!

    Actually, Switchfoot is one of the best live -performance bands ever, and they often sound better than the studio recording, which is already great!

    For all you switchfoot fans they just re-released “The Beautiful letdown” and are actually touring playing only the whole album! They have so much great stuff, but “Where the Light Shines through” is easily some of their best work. The song “Won’t let you go” has been my favorite song for 3 or 4 years now. Also, John Bellion and the Jonas brothers are covering their stuff now! I really hope it starts a Switchfoot renasaince. I can’t think of a band who deserves it more. These guys are criminally underrated.

    PS. The 3rd Guitarist on this Song is Jerome who normally plays Piano/Keyboards on most Switchfoot songs. For Meant to Live & a few other songs Jerome breaks out the Guitar 🎸

    The studio intro for this has alternating hard panning, so it's always my go to song for testing stereo setups 😂 great tune, but I've always appreciated it more for that practical application

    Very underrated Christian Rock band.

  • @lc81002
    @lc81002 Год назад +5

    Fun fact: "Switchfoot" is a skateboarding (and snowboarding, and I think surfing) term for riding with your "wrong" foot forward, so your feet are switched from their normal stance, hence the term. It adds to the difficulty if a trick is done in switchfoot stance. It makes me laugh that lefties are called "goofy foot."
    My favorite from this Switchfoot album (The Beautiful Letdown) is Twenty Four. It's a beautiful ballad with strings. The biggest hit from it is Dare You to Move. I haven't followed them in years, so this very well could have changed, but when this album came out 20 years ago, they were considered a Christian band.

    • @SirTheory
      @SirTheory Год назад +1

      If my memory from reading the Christian music magazines from the early 00s holds, they were specifically targeting surfing with their name.

    • @user-ho2tm2bp8m
      @user-ho2tm2bp8m 5 месяцев назад

      In skateboarding I remember that if your front foot is left, you're regular. Right front foot is goofy. Then when you lean to the front while still going forward, is switch. I personally had my right foot on the back while pushing. That's called mongo.

    Aw, it's nice to see Switchfoot here. What a great band. Their heyday (in terms of popularity) was, what? Early to later-mid 00s? They keep on trucking, though, as a band. I need to catch up on them-I lost track around 2010ish or so, but they've been very consistent with releasing albums (most recently 2021) and they're too talented to release a bad one.
    Maybe I'll make my summer a Switchfoot summer and work at catching up!

    Tycho: A Walk (live on KEXP) great melow synth infused rock with no vocals. I love this version, it really takes me on a musical journey. (Some of their music has vocals buts its generally by guest artists.)
