I saw a 2020 or 2021 Jeep with an almost light gray and white grill that was supposed to be black at St.George Island. I don’t think it ever had any Back to Black or Armor All. The color matched paint looks great!!!
Looks great! I’m in the process of getting my hinges and panels repainted for the second time (just past 5 year warranty, we’ll see what happens). If it goes through I’m definitely seeing what the body shop would charge me to paint the cowl as well to match my Ocean Blue Sahara!
Thank you for not only another incredible video but adding to my want list for my gladiator!! You are absolutely killing it so keep up the incredible work!! 👍
The cowl panel seems to fade overnight. I have tried different products on it and none have lasted more than a week. This might be the fix I have been looking for. Thanks for posting. 👍
This is the reactive method of taking care of the issue. If you want to be proactive, apply a ceramic coating to it when you first buy your jeep, or after you clean it, and it will protect it for 1-2 years.
I picked up a wiper cowl from the Distinction Applied booth during Daytona Jeep Beach for both my wifes Hydro Blue Gladiator and my Sarge Green wrangler JLU. The color match was perfect on both vehicles and as you mentioned the install is a breeze, nothing to it. The hardest part was getting the wipers off ... I did the hammer trick ( I need to get me one of those small pullers). I highly recommend Distinction Applied, I'll be picking up a few of their other parts in the future
100% recommend, I have one on my Wrangler, my Dad's MOAB edition has a matte finish panel with a USA flag design, which also looks nice. I met the guy who runs Distinction Applied at a Jeep event, and also bought a color matched mug from their shop. That's another one that people should look into. Also, yes, the hammer trick is needed. I also recommend getting a stool or something to stand on to get the passenger side wiper arm off, since it can be hard to reach.
I did the same mod from Distinction Applied on my Blue JT. Mine was faded like you said after 3 years. I didn’t realize it had those honey combs on the wiper panel was filled and that the older Jeeps had color matched wiper cowls. Thanks for sharing.
Just got it in today... what an amazing product. Easy to install in less than 10 minutes. Thank you for telling me about the 15mm socket and really did have to use a puller to get the wiper arm off.😁😁
Well damn! I didn’t know I needed this and now I have to have one too! I have a High Velocity Yellow, AEV JLUR 392. That thing looked fantastic body colored on your old Jeep. I’m checking all their stuff out today!
Thanks guys for using my pictures in your video! The DA stuff is top quality. I know at the moment they’re waiting on some parts from Mopar but anxious to order my color matched 2024 grill for my ‘18. I may just call them soon and force them to take my money so I’m guaranteed to get one lol. If you guys wanna do any more before/after pics of the grill lemme know!
They are working on getting some grilles to sell. Shoot us some photos on Instagram or Facebook of before and after and we will give you a shoutout in a future post! Great photos btw
McGuires Back To Black keeps the black stock panel from chaulking up and protects it over time. A MUST have for any vehicle that has black plastic. Mirrors, door handles, window trim, our plastic panels inside the JL's. All can use Back to Black. Been using it for years. FYI to all.
Looks great! I live 30 minutes from Distinction Applied. I ordered an embroidered arm rest for my 2018 JL Sahara and picked it up there. It looks awesome in my Jeep! Will definitely be ordering more things from them. I would never have known about Distinction Applied if it wasn’t for your videos. Thanks!
I never noticed that the design on that was a Jeep front end till you held it up like that. Hilarious as I am jeep obsessed. Lol love it. It’s the grill and head lights.
Nice when you get it for free like he did. I'd love to have it on my 2022 4xe but i prefer to spend that much money on groceries. Their paint match door handles are also amazing but goodness they are expensive.
That color matching looks so much better. Nice job! I don't meant to poo poo on the JLs (I have a JK), but I can see where that would fade and get all chalky looking in a few years and look like crap. Example: look at the fender flares on early JKs. They look ugly compared to the flares you see on the TJs. One of my "upgrades" is hoping to get my hard top color matched and find some color matched flares from a Gobi colored Sahara owner.
Interestingly I specifically ordered my 2022 Willys Sport in black so that all aspects of my Jeep matched from the start. I specifically love the fact that the exterior paint color doesn’t flash through into the interior. LOL! P.S. And with some Armor All the plastic parts seem to be retaining their color and not fading.
My Gladiator had only 11k miles on it when I sold it, just over 2 years after purchasing it factory new. by that point, the cowling was noticeably grey compared to the black of all of the rest of the trim. FL sun is brutal.
I'm not a big fan of color- matched everything. Perhaps my TV isn't that great, if you say it's the same color then it is. I think you should've gone for some kind of pattern on it. Trying to color match injection molded plastic, to a year old paint. That's gotta be tough to do. The channel is awesome, keep up the good work. 👍
Looks nice, however I have NO IDEA why they didn’t leave the center area black, that would look better! I’m thinking carbon fiber would look good on my sting grey
:40 I wonder if it's wind erosion. That panel is close to the windshield and more exposed to wind current than the vents, so the wind wears down the material and the sun bakes it.
Matt, the ONLY PANEL that has faded is this panel. I have used 303 Aerospace Protectant and every other method and this panel will not black up. I have even spilled fuel on my filler on my rear bumper and it cleans up with dish soap, and then stays black like new. I may just have to splurge on myself, soon. I wonder if they will do the DUNKIN DONUTS colors…. C’mon #DUNKIN sponsor this channel.
Amazing how such a small part that has been painted to match the Jeep can making such a great difference. Basically, easy off and on. What could be better than that?
I had this problem on my 2020 gladiator, i used ..Meguiar’s Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer It 💯 did an amazing job and has lasted me atleast a month going
I ceramic coated all the trim pieces so I'm hoping that helps resist fading. I do like the options they have for parts like this. Where's a good place to get a stubby antenna?
Why does everyone want monotone Wranglers? I never understood painted everything on Wranglers. It turns it not a huge mono-block rolling down the road (fenders, hardtop, etc.). Unpainted fenders, top, etc. brings contrast to the overall look. It is by far better looking.
It gookd good but all the other color matched stuff is so tacky. I like the color/black combo of a jeep. Also the filled in honeycombs i would bet mony if to cut down wind noise.

I saved $160 and sprayed it myself using mopar spray paint. Unlike those I masked off the grilles so they remained black
Good way of doing it too
I agree, I would prefer the “mesh”/grill portion to be black.
It is so hard hard getting Mopar paint these days. Especially in gecko green
I bet it looks sweet with the black grille slots.

Looks great color matched. One advantage to having a Granite JL is the black trim looks good against it
Good call!

Great suggestion!
Did not work for me. It’s black for less than 30 days and fades like a mother.
but the color match looks better than ceramic coating. not to mention ceramic coating is very pricey

Thanks for this video. I didn’t realized I wanted a new cowl panel. Lol.
Just installed it on my Gladiator. I love the way it looks.

Agreed! Thanks Justin
Distinction Applied is awesome. I have replaced a ton on my Gladiator to get a monotone color which I really like. They will treat you right!
Awesome! Love to hear that!
Perfect timing! I was just looking at my cowl and how bad it is starting to look
Might be time for an upgrade!
I see my cowl panel. Thanks for sharing my picture. I like the color match. My Jeep has the black fenders too. I like the black/silver combo too
Awesome!
Replaced my cowl vent in bright silver. Excellent Product ✌️👍😎
Love to hear that!
Just pick this up in HellaYella! So glad you posted this.
Awesome! Would love to see some pics of that

Yeah they fade quick!
it really does look so much better color matched. I'll be checking out their site for sure.
Awesome to hear!
Love the look! It has annoyed me that my Mojito! didn't come with a colour matched panel. Such an easy change to make.
Wonder why they didn't paint match on the JL
@@DIRTROADCRED Costs and simplicity. One less thing to paint and minimize sku's. One panel for all models.
303 Protectant works great for the black panels. Its has UV protection and keeps the black from getting gray.
Thanks for the suggestion!
On those black trim pieces I use ExoForma black trim restorer. Works great!!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Nice! Been waiting on this “mod” to solidify what color I want.
What color are you going with?
@@DIRTROADCRED I think I’m going to get new tow hooks and go with the grabber. It will look good with my white JEEP and blue logo.
Looks great!
We think so too!

We definitely need a few accents to break it up
Dig the color matched mug!
They have all the colors!
Matt, that is exactly what I want on my HT. Hope they have them in Toledo.
They definitely will!
Great video….. like the color match
Thanks Mike 😎
i can't even take my windshield wipers off lol
Wow, looks great.
I like the look of the faded American flag
Same here!
Looks nice, however I have NO IDEA why they didn’t leave the center area black, that would look better! I’m thinking carbon fiber would look good on my sting grey
They might test out some accented ones
Two Thumbs Up Matt 👍👍 Great look. Much better
Thanks!
Use boiled linseed oil on the plastic
Thank you sir; I’ll check this out.
Awesome! Thanks for watching
:40 I wonder if it's wind erosion. That panel is close to the windshield and more exposed to wind current than the vents, so the wind wears down the material and the sun bakes it.
That could be!
Looks awesome !!!
Thanks!
Mother's Back to Black works great for this type of fading.
Thanks for the suggestion. We will check it out
After seeing how bad JK fenders fade after a few years i always wondered why they added plastic right there on the JL
Its a great question!
Got mine from DA (your recommendation) last week in Snazzberry!! They are perfect.
Love to hear that!
Way better than black!
We like both!

Probably just a bad pic. Saw a few in person at their booth its definitely nacho!

that looks great!! Love it!
Right?!
That looks great!
Looks clean!
I ceramic coated all the trim pieces so I'm hoping that helps resist fading. I do like the options they have for parts like this. Where's a good place to get a stubby antenna?
We might do a video on different antennas for older JLs
Can of plastidip can make all those parts black again, probably 5 times for $10.
A "core charge"?
So they're not selling you a brand new part..... They're refurbishing old, used, faded ones
Do you find that your new windshield wiper connectors rub on the plastic around the base of the cowl where the wiper arm connects to the motor?
We have heard that happening, but for us it hasn't
Loos Great Matt!!!
Thanks!
Just got my color matched one from Distinction Applied at NJ jeep invasion. Well worth the $150
Love to hear!
Looks better black

crossing my fingers hoping i can win that 24 grille in purple reign 🤞🤞🤞
