I was dissapointed with cosmos cop, it's too generic it's too repetitive etc. As for Ironsword Wizards & Warriors II, this game need no introduction, a much better game that i still like and respect to this date. The last boss was a ordeal to beat without any deaths. Even if the first one is almost as good, Ironsword Wizards & Warriors II is still my favorite in the series. The music is better, the graphics were also improved.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II is a platforming action-adventure video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) developed by UK-based company Zippo Games, a subsidiary of Rare Ltd. it was published by Acclaim and released in North America in December 1989 and in Europe on March 27, 1991. It is the sequel to Rare's 1987 title Wizards & Warriors. In Ironsword, the player controls the knight warrior Kuros as he ventures in the land of Sindarin. He must defeat the evil wizard , who has assumed the elemental forms of Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. Kuros must collect the parts of and assemble the legendary "IronSword" in order to defeat Malkil, who resides at the top of IceFire Mountain. Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II was developed by Zippo Games' founder Ste Pickford and was the first game that he developed for the NES. Steve Hughes also assisted in development, while Rare's video game composer David Wise did the music and sound. Pickford wanted to expand on the previous Wizards & Warriors game. Having experience with developing computer games, Pickford used various animation and graphics techniques to try and show off the NES' graphical capabilities. In addition, Acclaim hired Italian male model Fabio Lanzoni to pose as mighty Kuros .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for characters, bosses, and gameplay, reviews criticized its lack of originality as compared to other games that were released at the time. The game led Zippo Games to develop additional games for Rare on the NES such as Solar Jetman: Hunt for the Golden Warpship and Wizards & Warriors III: Kuros: Visions Visions Power. Ironsword won "Game Player's NES Excellence Award" from Game Players magazine as one of the better NES titles of 1990. Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II is a platforming video game where the player controls the renowned warrior Kuros as he explores the land of Sindarin to defeat the evil wizard Malkil. This time, Malkil has taken the form of the four "Elementals", based on the Greek classical elements - Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water - to stop Kuros in his quest. The objective is to assemble the legendary "IronSword" - the only weapon that can defeat Malkil - and defeat the evil wizard who lies at the peak of IceFire Mountain. In the game, players can move Kuros left or right, or make him crouch with the control pad; the buttons allow Kuros to jump, to use his sword or a magic spell to defeat enemies, to access the "Magic Spell Screen", or to pause the game. Kuros has a life meter that decreases every time he get hit by his enemies and foes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After losing all his lives, players may continue and restart the game where they left off up to two times. The continue feature would normally be disabled after the player had completed the earth domain, but due to an in-game bug, the player actually loses the continue function immediately upon merely setting foot in the domain. Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II consists of four levels called "domains," each named after the four elementals. In each domain, Kuros must find a golden artifact that belongs to the domain's "Animal King" and return it to him. Upon doing so, the path to the second part of the domain will appear. In the second part, Kuros must find the magic spell necessary to defeat the boss - the domain's Elemental. Without the spell, it is impossible to damage the boss. Once the elemental in each stage has been destroyed, Kuros obtains a piece of the IronSword, which is needed for the final battle on Icefire Mountain. Throughout the game, players must collect items, spells, and money to progress. Money helps buy magic spells, more powerful weapons, shields, helmets, keys to open locked treasure chests, and additional food.
Wow! This music takes me back to being 7 years old playing for hours on a tiny CRT on top of my dresser. 😆
HAHAH same set up. The tv in my room was black and white for the longest time. Atrai 2600 and NES. Those where the days
Me too! I had a little 13" with the fake wood contact paper stuff on the top and sides as well as full on dials for channel and volume and a big ass antenna coming off the back haha. I kinda wish my parents still had that little TV, it would be kinda cool by today's standards..
Did you play this too? 80s baby I presume too like me? :))
Yup!! 81!! Regan!! Lol😆💗
Nicole * SweeeT! 83 here!! ^\^
Reminds me of good times watching my mum play it. I was 6 years old. I miss you so much mum xx
You will see her soon.
Miss my folks. Dad used to love watching me play nes and snes. Especially fzero.
So read the credits a team of three people made this game. Kudos to making one of my childhood games !
That was pretty common in the 80s, a lot of amazing games were made by a team of 3-6 people under intense deadlines
You are Fabio
The greatest warrior of all...
Indeed! And the player, playing him didn't lose a single life in the whole playthrough.....
@@HeroesofXanaduSloth How did you get the helmet to spawn in the cloud stage??
All I ever get is a “ You have found the sports cap”
God listen to that melody, this game felt so epic at the time.
it WAS epic, sucka!
I've played this game both as a child and as an adult and I've never been able to make it past the boss of the cloud level. Watching you stand in the same spot without moving and beating him in seconds was amazing. This entire video was fantastic.
I was able to Make it to the final boss fight where all 4 attack you at the same time, but I couldn't for the life of me beat them. Probly because I never used spells. I've wondered what happens at the end of this game for over 20 years and its surprisingly anti-climactic
@@damcobennett you know what's really pathetic when I was a kid I couldn't even beat the second boss because I couldn't figure out how that's bad don't you think
I mastered this game at six years old. Secrets and everything. I tried recently a few years ago i struggled just to beat the game and found out i couldn't do it.
@@chronicler2313 I was like this with so many games. I beat the Commodore 64 version of Ultima Quest of the Avatar when I was 6 years old. I'm in my mid 30s now and tried to play the game again and literally had no idea where to even go. I don't think a 6 year old today would even be able to figure out how to boot the floppy disk
@@TRJ2241987 You only have a bit of free time to play and you have responsibilities on your mind. As a kid, you had so much more mental space left free for games.
Free up time, relax, and dedicate a few days to just playing the game and you can get back into it. It's a mindset.
I remember playing this when I was a kid. An older girl who was my neighbor had a NES and she’d bring it over and we’d play this game. I’d forgotten the title of it over the years, but finally found it. Good times!
Same thing I played this as a very little kid never could beat it but forgot the title so just now I can see what I missed. It was the music in the store or picking up items that made me 100% certain this was it.
I had memories of playing this game as a kid like 7 years old but i could never remember the title either. Over the years I'd try describing what little i could remember (mostly just that it was kinda like Zelda but not top down pov, and character being in full armor) but no one ever knew what game i was talking about. I got baked and started searching google and next the ng i know i see a screenshot that goofy looking frog and I'm like "i think that's THE game" then i watched and as soon as i heard the music and saw that slide animation i was like "IT IS THE GAME". Got an emulator with every Atari, NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis games on it. So much fun.
35 now, this was the first Game I ever beat as a kid. Felt like I had conquered the World! I would no way have the patience now to play through this magnificent game.
I still have this game and play it! I honestly think it's one of the best games for NES, and I love, love, love the music!
I like how you entered the room the Cross of Sindarin is in and noped right out of there. Lost so many lives there...
Thank you for vanquishing this childhood foe of mine, it is good to see its end
That first stage music is so damn good
this video takes me back 30 years!
I still remember how happy I was when I finally finished this game, it took me at least 2 or 3 months I think, not really sure I was 10 or 11 at the time :-) Great game, great memories. Thank you very much for uploading the gameplay, you're a legend!
I played the hell out of this back in the day. Never thought I'd see a play through of this on youtube ever. Good shit!
I can't believe how current a lot of these posts are. I could never beat this as a kid, I had always wanted to see a walkthrough but couldn't remember the name until I saw the cover on some random RUclipsr
One of he most frustrating games for me when I was a kid.
I know that feeling
Same here :-)
Same!!! I spent countless hours trying to beat this bastard game and never did jajajajaj
Realizes two things:
1. I never had a chance because I was actually trying to avoid enemies.
2. I never had a chance because I had no idea invisible secret areas even EXISTED.
That's funny because that was exactly what I was thinking watching this. Guess you had to have the power, Nintendo Power that is to beat the game. Quite a few like that.
Iron Sword was one of my favorite games when I was a kid. I played it so many times and beat it at least a few times. You beat this difficult game with quite a bit of finesse.
OMFG that non-ending XD
SO glad I didn't beat this game myself back in the day.
I got up to the end, but could never beat that last battle with all 4 elements..... Seeing the ending now, wtf? haha
2:15 this merchant sprite is so awesome.
Game was a pain back in the days. Cool to see someone play who knows what to do.
Ehhhrergoddess!!!! In all my years of watching RUclips, this is the first time I have ever seen ANY mention of this beloved game from my childhoods. Thank you so much!
Watching this brings back so many memories. How did I ever have the patience for this game as a kid? Don't know but I beat it. Great watch
I once had a vision about this game but sadly, i never found any editor to hack the game and make that idea come true. I would love to mod a few levels of ironsword. Change the enemies, sprites, graphics, levels design etc...
Dude I forgot about this game till I heard the music!! Omg I’m buying this ASAP
Great game, i sell it on ebay.
One of my favorites. Hate to say that I got all the way to the end on that snowy summit but never beat it. Got incredibly close numerous times but sadly, I could not beat it. Very much loved the game, though.
I couldn't never beat the last 4 bosses and finally I watched somebody that did. That's good memories
I used to be able to play through this game without dying back in the day.. sadly, I can't anymore. This playthrough brought back a lot of memories. Thanks!
A tribute to a oldschool game of my childhood and to my subscribers... may the flames burn brightly forever.
Thank you so much for the Dorkout session; I really needed that! Game on, my friend.
This is amazing. Half the enemies look like they paid some kid five bucks to draw them in paint. Like, what is that purple enemy at 23:40? They were memeing us way back in 1988, and few of us knew it.
Guy had swords on the wall but will only sell you food wtf lol memories.
is it just me or did 1988 had the best nes games of all time
The Guardian Legend (awesome game) was released in 1988, as well as Mario 3 (in Japan)
I would argue 1990, mario 3 in north America as well as super c I think.
Violinist Mike the guardian legend is hands down a classic!!!
@@chid255 Also, TMNT 2: The Arcade Game came out in 1990 for NES. It was like a dream come true to play that game at the time.
I would say 1987. Castlevania, Goonies II, Wizards & Warriors, etc
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS GAME FOR YEARS!!!!!!I WAS PLAYING IT BEFORE 22 YEARS OMGGGG!THANKS
This music is pure nostalgia for me, I remeber watching my mom play this. Back when she would buy a game and my family would spend a weekend trying to beat it.
Thank you for this. Wonderful play through! Really took me back
Awesome. My childhood memories. I've made it to the 4 elements but never won. Thanks for the run thru.❤️
I have forgot about so many games that I played!. I like watching these types of videos to see at what point I do not remember the levels that I used to play on different games when I was a kid. There were so many games that I was so pissed off at, that I f&$@ing smashed them and a multiple controllers!
Thank you for solving many folks like my selves’ seemingly eternal frustration.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for this, you brought me back some beautiful memories from my childhood
Randomly started whistling the intro at work today lol haven’t play this game in years but the music is still with me
As a kid I never got past the water level. Thanks for letting me see the rest.
One of my earliest memories in life is of the watersprout and the frog in the forest. My older friends played and I watched.
IKR!!! THIS IS SURREAL RIGHT NOW!
I love the googly eyes, really complements the armor.
Haha.. nostalgia.. randomly came across this video from another RUclipsr so had to find a full walkthrough. I loved this game as a kid except I thought it was so hard I never got to see the end, now I will! Geez... I'm getting old. 🤣😭
I poured so many hours into this game as a kid. The main thing I remember is the awesome music from the last level.
This game could have so much more potential.
They could make it longer.
The sindarin-items could have hidden uses, such as: The book could reduce vendor prices, and/or explain how the spells function.
The cross could maybe reveal hidden doors. But then it should be found in the very first stage, but perhaps even more secluded.
The gauntlet could reduce damage taken by say 30% (in addition to other armor items, which would give a % defense too).
The ring could make you passively and slowly regenerate magic.
It is not a bad game, but it could be so much better with just a little more tweaking!! And that is such a shame it does not have it.
I wish i knew a bit about programming so that i could make the changes myself, and re-release it as a fan made game.
This was one of my favorite games in elementary school. I don't recall if I ever defeated it without Game Genie. Awesome memories.
I finally found the game! I remembered the ending and climbing up to through the clouds!
We were all hunkered in dark room on a small tv playing this on top of a dresser
Recuerdo que mi papá me llevó a una tienda de juegos,yo tenía como 6 años y escogí este juego lo cual no me arrepiento,vi el vídeo completo y tiene un valor nostálgico muy grande....
El objetivo era ver todos los secretos y me sorprendistes con 5 pero te faltaron 4.
Super vídeo gracias.
So glad I found this game. I love it. Music is so good. Gameplay top notch.
Such a shame that this game and Wizards & Warriors never get mentioned in the same breath as all the other classic series on NES like Mega Man, Super Mario, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, etc. They are definitely worthy.
And I am Kuros, the Knight Warrior, you play well getting far.
Wow! You really are Kuros! Welcome to my channel. You can stay at the inn or go the tavern if you want.
Indeed, and thank you for inviting me to your tavern, all I need is meet and drink before I battle Malkil again.
Epic!! This is one of my most favorite Nes series of all time.
"Knight Warrior"? Surely you're a lie as knight and warrior are completely separate occupations.
I had the most vague memory of the cloud level in this game and could not for the life of me remember where it’s from, oh man seeing this hit me like a ton of bricks!
That was awesome. Haven't played this since I was a kid. Nice to finally see it beaten.
I played this game when I was 2 or 3 years old. I have no idea how I remember this game. But I literally had to find it by searching on Google “nes clouds and golden egg” because it’s all I remember. Obviously I never got past the first stage but this is crazy thanks for uploading this!
i always did enjoy the background music it played.made me feel at home,cozy and warm as a kid.its very enticing sounds.
I almost didnt remember playing this one till i geard the music when you found the treasure.
I remember a glitch! If, after you beat the cloud monster, you stand by the exit and get the sword handle by shooting it, you'll land and exit before they can take your zap power away and you'll have it throughout the game.
Never forgot this final battle! What a treat! Excellent music! Just an excellent sequel.
Just got the Game remember as a kid. One of those games where it was trial and error for sure. Love it all the way
36:53 Possibly the most cheerful, upbeat final boss music ever created for a video game. I love it.
So many memories playing this game! I liked the first one but I have much better memories with this one! I remember I was 11 when this came out and I slept over my cousins and me and him were up all night taking turns playing trying to beat the game! We did! Great memories indeed!
Many gamers seem to prefer the first game but i really think that iron sword is a superior game. The graphics are better, items selection, the bosses, animals guardians etc...they did some nice upgrades after the released of the first game. The controls could have been better, all the trilogy is missing some better controls.
Wow! I played when I was 8-10 years old and I was never able to defeat the last bosses
🤨
Heroes of Xanadu - Sloth Heroes of Xanadu - Sloth Definitely agree on everything you said! It’s actually surprising to me when people say they like the first one better, seeing as this one definitely has more variety as far as environments etc! Not to mention it has badass Fabio on the cover! What more can you want? (No Homo)! Lol
Nicole * Which one did you like better? This or the 1st one?
@@likewise4Gaming this one for sure! The music is soo good! 😊
I'm very impressed, as this game is incredibly difficult. As a kid I was only able to beat it maybe once or twice, and that's after putting a LOT of hours into it and numerous deaths every few minutes, lol.
This was one of the hardest nes games I ever beat. The combat mechanics were very frustrating; I don't think there's ever been another game where you lose health by fighting. Still, one of my favorite games ever. The series really deserved a 16-bit reboot.
We all played it wrong. But come on, we had a cool knight with cool weappns, ofc we gonna try to fight. The way to play is like Sonic. Which is very counterintuitive.
Lots of similar games on the old NES but this is definitely one of the better ones. Rare showing their excellent animation skills of course.
I forgot this game even existed. Holy hello, this takes me back.
Took me until this year to realize that Rare made one of my favorite games as a kid, and glad I decided to watch an LP of it because man I miss this game but am sure I couldn't get through it these days without going crazy.
I remember playing this as a kid and the fire level scared the crap out of me with the creepy music and stuff.
I remember getting this game brand new in 1988...couldn't beat it lol
Fun Fact: Wizards and Warriors spawned a short lived TV show of the same name.
Born in 85 and I got a lot of memory from this game back in 90-91😮
I have to admit, I never realized just how close I came to beating this game when I was 14 years old. I got to the final 4 elemenals but could never kill them on the last stage. I wish they could have made more of these games... I miss the challenge.
Just play elden ring or the dark souls games. Literally the same vibe and they are as challenging!
This is my favorite with Fabio on the box. lol. My best friend and i spent hours, DAYS playing this game over and over.
No death run? HOW?!? This game kicked my ass as a kid but man did I love it!
I’m so getting my NES out now
This is incredible. I never could beat it, I tried for years.
Ohh Man. When i was a child i got the first Wizard N' Warrios. Great game. Then this second game appeared. I rented it first, and i've never figure it out on what to do at this first. It may short but too complex, while the first one was so easy, just like an walking in the park, and knowing to do later. Right here in this second game, just not.
Nice gameplay dude 👍
Oh wat memories of the 80s I miss those times
Me too
The cloud level is my favorite. So many good memories there!!!!
Wow I forgot all about this game!! I used to play this all the time, I can't remember how far I got or if I ever beat this game but I remember being hooked on it for a while
For an NES game that wasn’t final fantasy or dragon warrior, this game had some epic music.
I still have a cassette somewhere of me when I was like…8 playing this game and talking lol. I played it all the way back in 1989 at my daycare and then got it at home a few years later.
I got to that final boss when I was younger, except that I barely had any useful spells. I remember being so disappointed in not beating the game.
Insane how good the music is
I could NOT remember the name of this for DECADES, Thanks!.
Man did I ever love this game!!
This game is epic,… it holds a dear place in my heart.
Nicely done. I only played the first one.
If you liked the first game, you will definitively like ironsword. They are both about as good but i prefer the second game over the first one for a few reasons. One of the few games on the system with a more "american soundtrack". Most of the games sound more japanese, just logical. One of my favorite trick in the game is the tavern owner throwing ale glasses everywhere in the tavern. I also think that the animal guardians have better graphics design than the one in wizards & warriors. You really need to find as a gamer the secret magical & refilling spot to battle the bosses. The angry heads that goes down almost kill you instantly, learn the secret to dodge them and you won't have any problems with those baddies. I am not sure if i will record the third and last game in the series but my guess is: probably. Thanks you for watching and sorry about the late reply.
What !? Part 2!! Original was my fav.(and Castelvania)This is SWWWEEEET!!!
This dude got farther into the game in 2 mins than I ever have
Seeing that sword slash that looks like he's trying shoo a fly off his face.. makes my eye twitch. that lack of reach drove me crazy.
One of my favorite games!!!
I was terrible at this game as a kid, so I'd just go into the shop and play the skull n' crossbones game over and over. Still had fun with it though.
