    Generation 3, mentioned in the opening text, is presumably a type of android like those in Blade Runner, one of the inspirations for this album and this video in particular. The band members seem to be Gen 4 androids mentioned in the beginning as well. The guy in the brown coat seems to be a detective of some sort, judging by the scene where he walks in to the aftermath of one of the woman's attacks. He seems to be inspired by Deckard, the main character of Blade Runner, who worked as a blade runner. A 'blade runner' in the movie of same name was effectively a mercenary sent to hunt down and 'retire' (murder) escaped 'replicants' (androids) since replicants were banned from Earth (sci-fi world, they were allowed in offworld colonies and such). The part in the video there where the detective punches the one android and sends him flying might be a nod to the fan theory that Deckard was himself a replicant. This would also give weight to the scenes where the detective doesn't stop the woman from continuing her attacks because he empathizes with her crusade on some level.

      I must respectfully point out that this song is actually based on an anime called Armitage III (aka "Armitage The Third") who is a Third-Series android on Mars. SPOILER WARNING SPOILER WARNING SPOILER WARNING..... okay, the thing about the Third-Series is that they are so close to human that they can pass as one, as Armitage does for most of the first of the four OVA episodes. The things that the girl says at the start of the song are the literal words that Armitage says in the.... second episode?... i believe. It's one of the all time greats of anime, and definitely watch the four episode OVA over the compressed movie version.

    If you want to get the context of the song, watch the four-episode long OVA "Armitage III," which is also called "Armitage the Third." One thing about Beast in Black is that almost all of their songs are based on anime, manga, or popular culture. Their first two albums are based in their entirety on the anime/manga Beserk. This one has two songs about Armitage III, "Moonlight Rendevous" and "Highway to Mars," and both of them open with spoken word quotes lifted straight out of the OVA

    • @sharmvlog
      @sharmvlog  Год назад

      Oh that's awesome, I love that they are based on that!

    • @vagabond142

      @@sharmvlog It's a constant for the primary songwriter, Anton Kabanen. He also was instrumental in forming Battle Beast, and the name of both bands (Battle Beast, Beast in Black) refer to the Beserk anime/manga. He left Battle Beast because they wanted to go in a different musical direction, so he formed Beast in Black to keep on with the Japanese references.
      While there are one off songs here and there that are actual original stories, almost every other song on all three albums so far are the story of an anime or manga. For example, One Night In Tokyo is its own song, but it has very oblique and subtle references to Ghost in the Shell and Bubblegum Crisis, two of the best cyberpunk mangas/animes.

    If you haven't listened to Powerwolf, you should. Incense and Iron or Where the wild wolves have gone (if you want something softer and with more power) are two good songs to start with. Attila is an amazing - and pretty unique - vocalist.

    A bit of a extra fun fact, the opening line, in the woman's voice is a direct line from the anime Armitage III, which was one of the influences for this song & album. Bladerunner is another major influence for the song & album too.

    Also, I ***HIGHLY*** recommend that if you want to see just what Yannis (the singer) can do, react to his cover of Ghost Love Score by Nightwish. He sings the original parts, as well as the ultra-high ending bit that Floor Jansen added when she joined the band in 2012/2013 as their replacement singer after the band parted with the previous singer. Sharm, are you a bit scifi freak? Loving it so much. So yeah, Beast in Black was formed former member and founder of Battle Beast(whichis still going strong). If y9u haven't checked out Battle Beast, you should. Noora Louhimo has such a great voice. She is female version of Yannis, or maybe Dio. Both are great Finnish metal bands with very similar influences.

      That guitar riff + synth combo at the beginning absolutely corrodes itself to your brain and never goes away, same goes for that chorus. Antons getting too good at making this stuff that absolutely corrodes itself to your brains and never lets go.

    Just found this, you mention Symphony X, Yannis also has some vocal covers of that band on his channel and like with everything he sings,....he nails it. This particular ablum this is off of is heavily inspired by Blade Runner which I am guessing you are unfamiliar with, you could have worse exposure to it, but to be able to understand this video, you must first understand the cult classic movie. I probobly would not have dived into this video for your first venture into the band, Blind and Frozen is the one I would recommend or From Hell with Love would be a good starting point.
