Fun fact: the band name "Beast in Black" and the many themes and subjects in the songs were inspired by the dark fantasy manga "Berserk"!
And yes, this band's sound is very "cheesy" sounding in the best way possible. Very fun, energetic, and the melodies will get stuck in your head all day. Like many have mentioned, the self titled song "Beast in Black", and "Die by the Blade" are some good listens! I'd also reccomend "Zodd the Immortal" which is more aggressive and I think really shows what Yannis is capable of.

I saw them as a pre-show for Nightwish, and I had never heard of them, but the performance was great, Yannis’s singing was amazing, all the songs were catchy as hell and I was singing along even during this first hearing. And the synchronised guitar movements are fun as hell. I really really like their song “Beast In Black” (a lot of songs of their album Berserker ar based on a manga/anime called Berserk), so please react to that song please :-) They were super nice (you could talk with them after the concert) and people were buying loads of records and CDs from them, so they made a big impression!

Their 70's~early 80's era stuff was more NWOBHM and generally lighter than stuff that Maiden put out but around the late 80s and onwards Priest began putting heavy emphasis on a heavier sound. The entire Angel of Retribution album is extremely heavy compared to their older songs.

The interiors were filmed in Raasepori castle. When I visited that way with some friends, it was closed for bridge maintenance, but the ruin was still impressive from the outside (funny thinking how the hill it's on was an island). The most memorable thing was the jackdaws. Every hole and crevice had a pair of blue eyes just staring out of the darkness.

This was the first song I listened to when I first found them and totally thought it was a female voice. One of the guitarists left Battle Beast and founded Beast In Black and is the "beast" as he does some very interesting growls/screams. As Battle Beast is female fronted i thought it was female as well until i got to other songs.
Also Yannis's cover of Ghost Love Score is great.

@@rominesque2921 It's a rather common misconception. I'm not much of a genre gatekeeper/nerd, but just personally I think of "symphonic metal" not really a genre, since there are so many genres within metal that use symphonic metal. From Nightwish and Kamelot to Fleshgod Apocalypse and Shadow of Intent.
Just like with pirate metal and viking metal, they're just loose terms describing an aspect of the music, like themes or a musical element, like the use of orchestration.

All I would say is Symphonic Metal alone is not a genre, but you can definitely say Kamelot is Symphonic Power Metal, which would be correct in explaining their sound and aesthetic. If that makes sense.

    "Crazy Mad Insane" (Disco-Metal-Mix)
    "Oceandeep" (wonderful ballad)
"Zodd the Immortal" (probably their hardest song)
Yannis Papadopoulos is the singer, he has a youtube channel where he covers quite a few songs.
Many of the songs and much of the art is inspired by the manga "Berserk".

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSS so happy to see this! Beast in Black deserves all the recognition. They are freaking amazing!!! Both of their albums so far are so good. Other really great songs are Sweet True Lies, From Hell with Love,
Zodd The Immortal, Bron Again, Cry out for a Hero, & Beast in Black. As everyone has mentioned, Yannis is a very (very very VERY) talented vocalist, you should check out his RUclips channel. The dude is probably one of THE BEST male vocalists out there. His cover of Ghost Love Score (GLS) is pretty epic (hoping one day he and FLoor perform it together live).
Anton founded and was part of another Finnish - Beast in Black (there is a whole story there) who are also pretty good. Slightly cheesier but still good power metal. And their frontwoman is pretty amazing ( Noora Louhimo). Another recommendation for the power metally journey - give Powerwolf a go.

I absolutely love this band. They are killer at this fun-metal homage-to-the-80s vibe and Yannis is phenomenal. Please please please do more - From Hell With Love, Repentless, Beast in Black, Oceandeep, Crazy Mad Insane.
Also, my favorite detail on Kasperi’s guitar is the Decepticon emblem. 🤘

So I've seen these guys live twice supporting nightwish and gloryhammer. All of the band are sweethearts and Yannis can hit those notes live. He's done a cover of Ghost love score and hits those notes too!
Now for reccomendations. Antonis the guitarist writes a lot of songs inspired by the anime/manga berserk. So I'm going to suggest Zod the immortal or Repentless.
I totally agree with you about them being old school fun power metal! You have so much fun when they're on stage. Fingers crossed I'll see them headlining in 2021.

Been into power metal for about as long as I have been into metal, give or take a week or so. This is power metal.
If you wanted to show someone what power metal was in a single song, you wouldn't use a mid tempo song like this, but the truth is undeniable.
