My favorite part of these reactions? That look of confusion when Yannis starts singing.
Yannis has one of the highest vocal ranges in metal.
Not sure about that, but definitely he has one of the best head voices out there.

that yell, in the beginning, reminded me of Rob Halford (I'm a big priest fan) then he started with his falsetto voice and I did not care for it but it grew on me just like it did for you and by the end, I was absolutely rockin out. I'm definitely looking these guys up. great song.
Seen them live before the main act Nightwish in Amsterdam in 2018. They were fantastic!!!

I loved the falsetto probably because I spent years in the choir so I know it is possible bus fucking hard for a dude to go that high. Did it several times on accident. The hard part is to stay in control up there
It's not a full head voice, he does put a good touch of chest. You can tell because it's cleaner, not "whispery/breathy" and he can still put grit/fry onto his voice. I think his full head voice range is higher than that.

As someone who grew up on 80's hair metal Beast in Black is one of my favorite bands because they are straight up a love letter to ALL the Cheese from the 80's metal, complete with the synchronized guitar theatrics in "From Hell With Love", along with the incredibly ridiculous (but song seriously) lyrics of "Killed By Death", and of course "Oceandeep" probably hands down one of THE best "80's" power ballad EVER (my little 3 year old girl LOVES belting out the crescendo of that song in the car when it comes on)
It's like watching Metalocalypse as someone who loves all kinds of metal its brutal, but hilarious, but also presented from a place of pure love for the genre!
If you listen enough to their stuff you can tell they have a love for that era and style of music but they are bloody talented in their execution of it which makes it even better imho.
Beast In Black opened for Nightwish when I saw them in 2018 in Amsterdam. 🐱👤🎶😎

Beast In Black and Battle Beast are power metal with an 80s rock flavor mixed in.
I really enjoy both bands because of a love for metal and the 80s nostalgia I get from them.
Beast In Black broke off of Battle Beast and has a male vocalist where is Battle Beast has a female vocalist.
I recommend listening to more music by both of them.
"From hell with love" is the next song you should try... :) They are 80' aweseness!
I've seen them live four times and they are just amazing🤘 If you want to hear some more from them, I think "From Hell With Love" is a perfect song to that😅..

I have been listening to beast in black for almost 3 years and seen them live. They are a smaller band but have a fast growing fan base. I would call the genre 80ties hair modern melody rock. Other bands in the genre is crazy lix, steel panther and battle beast. If you watch any of their other videos you will see how dedicated they are to the 80ties sound making them stand out. They have been warmup for nightwish on their latest tour and was going on your with hammerfall until it was cancelled due to the corona pandemic
They are a great band, very 80’s style, they have been on tour supporting Nightwish a few times, you should react to their song called From Hell With Love

I wouldn't say so. Nightwish are essentially the archetype of the Symphonic metal genre. Undisputed kings.
I would throw Beast in Black (whom I love) straight in with Power Metal but with more of a fun cheesy eighties influence.
Like some others in the comments I first saw them supporting Nightwish on tour because there is enough crossover between them that they can certainly pair.
Other great Beast in Black songs would be "Sweet True Lies", "Born Again" and "Die by the Blade".
The majority of the songs on their two albums directly reference and are inspired by the Anime and Manga series "Berserk" so it's also possible to contextualise the songs into a wider narrative.

Similar bands to to Beast in Black might be Powerwolf, Gloryhammer or Brothers of Metal.
I say beast and black are a cross between pier metal and heavy metal same for unleash the archers and stuff. Glory hammer and sabaton id say are straight power metal tho

NightwishLover beast in black are defined Th power metals Nd I even say heavy metal also cus they have a massive nwobhm influence also. Can’t just say every and with obvious subgenres is their own thing just cus you don’t know much about it
Yeah so basically you like Finnish metal. Both Beast in Black and Nightwish are from Finland. Other bands you should check out are Battle Beast, Amorphis, Stratovarius, Sentenced, Wintersun, perhaps Kingston Wall (if your into proge) just to mention few.
Not entirely, Beast in Black is an odd cultural mix. Most of the Band is Finnish but Yannis is Greek, and the inspiration for about 90% of their lyrics is an exceptional grimdark Manga/anime called Berserk.

Like Nightlight they are a Finnish band. Where Nightlight has a Dutch lead singer their lead singer Yannick Papadopoulos is Greek. Most every man can sing like that if they used their head voice. Their is a similarity in styles in fact Yannick does a cover of Ghost Love Score.
Beast In black is a european metal band out of Finland. The lead singer is a Greek singer, they are considered a Power Metal band. You are officially a power metal fan. I have SO many bands you need to check out.

Funny you brought up Nightwish. Yannis Papadopoulos, the vocalist, does a cover of Nightwish's "Ghost Love Score" and it is as very much awesome as what Floor Jansen does. He hits the same notes as Floor, but it's got a little bit more of that male power, if you know what I mean.

I wouldn't say they're in the same boat as Nightwish, but they have toured and opened for them. I forget their exact origins, but the lead singer is Greek. Also, their videos are produced by the same guy who has produced some of Nightwish's live videos, but that could just be coincidence.

Once you start going down the symphonic/power metal genre, you may not ever come out. There are so many different artists/bands doing so many different interesting things.
I saw Beast in Black open for Beyond the Black, from Germany, (what's the deal with so many bands with 'black' in their name? okay, Seinfeld moment over) and Kobra and the Lotus, from Canada. That was a fun show.

If you liked this you need to check out the Ukrainian band Jinjer. Female fronted metal band with some very talented musicians. Jinjer and The Warning are currently my favorite bands. Intro song to Jinjer has to be Pisces (live studio version). In fact after watching Charlotte admire Pau, she should hear the drummer for Jinjer.
Metal bands are underground so you likely never heard of them or even others awesome band! If you listen to metal you must dig to find so many awesome band because they are not played in any radio or any mainstream media

I am thoroughly glad you like it. I do have a question, you being a former radio DJ, how is it that bands like BIB and Nightwish have a decent sized fan base here in the states but never make it to radio? I would say most European rock bands don't make it US radio but given the fact that I have to hear Bohemian Rhapsody at least 5 times a day, that obviously isn't the case. Just wondering why US radio doesnt introduce new material like this.

Could not handle lead singers voice for more than a song... but the band, the drums ( your daughter should learn the drum piece from this song) was excellent. The organ was a tad too high for the song, both lead singer voice and organ were kind of cartoonish in that the took power aaay rather than add the umph... so cacophonic. Lots to like, lots to hate.
