  • (Update!) 08/20/2018 I wrote out the loom knit pattern for everyone that expressed trouble with the video not being clear. Click the blog link and scroll down. www.goodknitkisses.com/loom-kn...
    On of my biggest requests has been how to loom knit the chevron stitch. Wait no longer! Learn how to knit the Bernat Ripple and Ridge Knit Blanket from Yarnspirations featuring the new Bernat Beyond yarn! Check it out on the GKK Blog: www.goodknitkisses.com/loom-kn...
    Needle knit pattern and blog LINK HERE goo.gl/YOjnGc
    The pattern falls in the EASY SKILL level for knitting. I cover all stitches, including the increase and decrease, and weaving tails so if this is your first big project you will have all skills needed in this video. If you have never knit a stitch before I do recommend learning the knit and purl with one of my slower videos first.
    Let’s knit this blanket together! Download your pattern at the blog link above. Remember it is a NEEDLE pattern but I will go through how to convert. It is super easy and all you need to do is print your copy and make a few notes!
    Yarn
    Bernat Beyond color Cream (7 balls). Contrast A
    Bernat Beyond color Slate (4 balls). Contrast B
    Bernat Beyond color Pumpkin (4 balls). Contrast C
    *For Lovey size - 1 ball each color.
    Loom & Supplies
    • LG Large Gauge loom 5/8" or 11/16" spacing with at least 48 pegs for lovey size or 139 for blanket size (Try CinDwood Looms, Kiss-looms).
    **You can also use this stitch pattern on any loom size with appropriate weight yarn and even change the color repeats.
    • scissors, tape measure to check peg spacing
    • Stitch markers or rubber bands, tapestry needle, loom hook
    Skill Level
    Easy
    Size
    Approx 50½" x 60" [128.5 x 152.5 cm]. (Baby “Lovey” size 15”x19”)
    Skills demonstrated in tutorial
    Double E-Wrap Cast-on
    Knit Stitch
    Purl Stitch
    K2tog - decrease
    YO - increase
    Bind off
    Weaving in ends
    The blanket begins with a garter border then jumps right into the ripples. The ripples are created with a simple 2 row repeat that includes the K2tog (knit 2 stitches together) increase and the YO (yarnover) decrease. That’s right only two distinct rows to learn!
    My video tutorial walks you through the entire pattern from start to finish. We’ll spend most of our time focusing on the 2 rows of the ripple pattern to make sure you have a good understanding of the techniques. Once you begin working, the ripples will fall off your loom quickly and you’ll reach the first color change before you know it. Then I’ll show you how to add in a new color so whatever colors you choose your transitions will be smooth. We’ll also discuss and show how to weave in the tails for color changes on a garter stitch and for the ending tail. Lots of tips included!
    If you need videos on basic stitches (double ewrap cast-on, knit, purl & bind-off) or other techniques, please check out my beginner tutorials on GoodKnit Kisses RUclips Beginner Loom Knit playlist.

    CAST ON HELP FOR OTHER LOOMS OR SIZES:
    The stitch pattern is a multiple of 13+9.
    Here is a running list of cast on numbers. Pick the one best suited for your loom stitch count. If you make one of these please tag me and write the size yours Ripple Afghan measures, yarn and loom you used and how many for the cast on. I will then write a blog with a chart for reference for everyone.
    (Listed in parenthesis is the number of repeats)
    CO 22 (1) 4 Blue/2 Orange Stitch Markers
    CO 35 (2) 7 Blue/4 Orange; recommended test swatch size
    CO 48 (3) 10 Blue/6 Orange; 48 peg LG 5/8" Round Hat loom
    CO 61(4) 13 Blue/8 Orange
    Co 74 (5) 16 Blue/10 Orange
    CO 87 (6) 19 Blue/12 Orange

    CO 152 (11) 34 Blue/22 Orange

    CO 178 (13) 40 Blue/26 Orange
    CO 191 (14) 43 Blue/28 Orange; Afghan Loom (S) - KB Looms
    CO 204 (15) 46 Blue/30 Orange; 28" Loom + 20 peg sliders - KB Looms

    CO 282 (21) 63 Blue/42 Orange
    CO 295 (22) 66 Blue/44 Orange; Infinity Loom (pink) - Knit UK
    So you will have 2 pattern repeats at 35 stitches. This is the perfect swatch to test. You'll need 7 blue and 4 orange stitch markers.
    Come loom along with me!
    Happy Crafting!!

    Thank you for such a concise and comprehensive video, Kristin. This is my first “big” project and I couldn’t have done it without this video. I opted for the 87 stitch cast on with approx 160 rows...I anticipate completion within a week and will be ready for some blocking. I’ll post my FO to your project page on Ravelry. I appreciate your hard work and dedication to loom knitting.

    This pattern seems overwhelming at first. I thought it would take me 12 years to make a baby blanket if I had to go back to marker 13:08 every time I started with another set of marked pegs, but I pushed through three rows and I totally have it! I do agree it's hard to keep your stitches loose enough and I'm not sure how mine will turn out because I'm doing it on the Knitting Board afghan loom with one strand of worsted weight yarn. I have finished my first stripe and I'm hopeful it will turn out well. It definitely takes practice! Thank you so much! I wish you would tackle that loom knit granny square on the Revelry site. PLEASE!!

    This pattern is not nearly as daunting as it first appears. I’m working it on an Afghan loom and picked it up by the third set of stitch shifts. Sadly, I did go too tight with my stitches and the yarn snapped so I will need to start over but I’m definitely gonna try it again! But when she says keep your stitches loose, keep them loose! Otherwise, a stellar pattern that I fully recommend!

    I tried to do this with a 22-peg cast-on but for the life of me I couldn't figure it out. I ended up adapting it for 24-pegs (the size of my smallest round loom) with some minor tweaks. It's maybe 1/8 the length of a proper scarf so far, but it looks intricate for a loom project and it's easy now that I have the hang of it. :)

    I'm really excited about this pattern! I went out an bought all the yarn, sat down to start and realized I had no idea where to begin. I want to make the full size blanket. I have both round and rectangle looms. Which one do I use? HELP!

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  6 лет назад +1

      Nicole Giron you’ll need a much larger loom with more pegs than the standard round or rectangle looms IF you are referring to a Knifty Knitter type (or Boye or Loops & Threads, etc) that come in a multipack at the store. Your loom will need 139 stitches. A 5/8” or 11/16” peg spacing from a company like CinDWood Craft Looms or Kiss Looms. The largest Knitting Board 28” loom with peg extenders May work as well. I️ hope that helps!

      Try a kfb or M1 increase (knit front back - see my loom knit Santa mug hug pattern) the other is a Make 1 increase. I think there are a few loom knit videos by others, you could try a Make 1 L or Make 1 Right increase. Always work up a swatch though first to check if you like it or not; I won't be testing it so you need to test in a swatch.

      Hi there! no you can use other looms. On the blog at the bottom I also list out other peg counts with the right multiple of stitches. You just need a loom that lets you do "straight" knitting back and forth. it can be rectangular, S shaped, oval or even round; and of course straight. All are fine.

    • @karinacernioglo1669
      @karinacernioglo1669 6 лет назад +1

      I had the same issue and resolved it by moving the stitches as I knitted them using the method shown at 14:25. You basically have to move the stitches when you work backwards (from peg 48 -> peg 1) otherwise it will be too tight when you work forwards (peg 1->48). I started moving the stitches at the location of the increase (peg 37,24,etc). I hope that makes sense.

    • @Carrieisbatman

    • @Alexandre6t
      @Alexandre6t 6 лет назад +1

      I had this problem too and I second Karina's idea. As I'm doing the "purl row" (i.e. moving backwards), I move the stitches into place where I want them for the next "knit row" so that they don't get too tight.

    How do I make the Chevron pattern on infinity or S loom without the ripple/ridge? I just want simple stripes but instead of straight rows of color, i want zig zag. I cant find a pattern/video anywhere

    Where do you get the 48 peg loom. I only have the 41 peg.

    My loom is 138 peg and the pattern calls for 139. Would I be able to make it work?

      Jasmin Osorio 126 would be the size down that would work.

    Hi Kristen! I love this pattern so much! Im about ready to start it, however I’m having trouble actually getting the free pattern. I clicked on the link below the video, went to your blog and clicked on the link to get the pattern, paid for the pattern, but I can’t figure out where the pattern is, lol 😂 I have ordered other patterns from you (through Etsy, and I received those just fine), but this one was through yarnspirations and I don’t know where the pattern ended up. Can you help me?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  3 года назад

      Lisa Wright hi Lisa! Yay! I’m so glad. Ok so the loom knitting version is just typed up on the website for free. I don’t think we made a downloadable one yet. The one on Yarnspirations is for the needle knit version. If you still want the needle version you have to click to go to the Yarnspirations website and hit the blue button to download the pattern. It will open another tab or window with the PDF. From there you can save the file. ☺️

    Can't seem to find a loom with 48 pegs.. I have a 66 peg loom would that work? Or where can I find a 139 peg loom ? Or maybe something in between?

  • @lisawright5747
    @lisawright5747 3 года назад

    Hi Kristen! It’s me again. I’d about to try to make this pattern into an actual baby blanket (not just a lovey size) and I was wondering if you could tell me how many stitches to cast on, and how this pattern would be altered for a baby blanket instead of a lovey?

    • @lisawright5747
      @lisawright5747 3 года назад

      Also, I’m using a pink infinity loom, if that makes a difference

    • @lisawright5747
      @lisawright5747 3 года назад

      Actually I just saw the area on your blog where it tells you how many stitches and stuff. I’m just going to pick a 10 repeat pattern, but why is there an * on either side of the 10?

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  3 года назад

      I believe I did that because that is the cast on in the pattern.

    This is a beautiful afghan. I'm going knit this on my KB Afghan Loom. (198 pegs) CO 182+9 = 191. My question is.. Do you think this afghan would ok in 1 color instead of 3? Thanks!! :D

    • @debpotts544
      @debpotts544 7 лет назад

      I would like to do it on my KB as well, what does your CO 182+9 = 191 mean?

    • @debpotts544
      @debpotts544 7 лет назад +1

      I get CO = cast on but what's the +9 for?

    • @MsAlana1985
      @MsAlana1985 7 лет назад +1

      The stitch pattern is a multiple of 13+9. So it's 13+13+13+13 etc... = 182 then + 9 = 191 pegs casted on. Do you crochet? It's similar to chaining the multiples of stitches +9. Other than that? I'm not 100% sure how to else to explain it. I just do what the pattern says. lol.. Hope this helps and if it doesn't I'm sorry.

      Michelle Kady this one I bought in a store several years ago before they were no longer made. However you can get one in this gauge and peg count from KBLooms in this set (I’ll post link below) or a version from CinDwoodLooms
      It is the orange in this set HERE www.amazon.com/dp/B07JNYX7N2/?cv_ct_id=amzn1.idea.3JWT48ZI4IVQA&cv_ct_pg=storefront&cv_ct_wn=aip-storefront&ref=exp_cov_goodknitkisses_lv_dp_vv_mw

    I am not sure why you did not show us how to do the second row. How do I do the next marked stitches? Pearl, knit, wool over?!?!

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  5 лет назад +1

      Did you download the pattern so you can have it next to you as you work it? You really need the written pattern available to help with that. I take you through the repeat. Then you have to keep repeating those steps over and over until the end of the row.

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  5 лет назад +1

      The entire row 2 is purling every single stitch. So each peg is purled and it does not matter if it has a marked stitch marker or not.

      Yes. Just use a smaller gauge and cast on a larger multiple to make up the difference for size.

      ashley walker yes. Cast on 35. The stitch pattern is a multiple of 13+9. So you will have 2 pattern repeats at 35 stitches.

      I just saw your post. I'm trying to make one of these on an afgan loom (KB s loom) and it is working great. I just have to remember not to get my tension too tight as there is some movement of yarn to different pegs to do the yarnovers.

    • @GoodKnitKisses
      @GoodKnitKisses  4 года назад

      Oh my goodknits, Sandra! I'm so sorry to have missed your question. A lovey is a tiny blanket for a baby or toddler. Usually something small they can hug on or carry to love on for comfort. They make great baby gifts and also doll blankets. I'm so glad you have enjoyed transitioning from crochet to loom knitting for relief on your hands. Have you been watching my new How to Loom Knit Series? It is chock full of info for new and even intermediate loom knitters.

You ever tried - Veyillian Noncarlett Eradicator - (should be on google have a look )? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work buddy got amazing results with it.
