Remember that the Pro's HQ mode is a cropped portion of the sensor for 1:1 pixel readout. Still a bigger equivalent sensor size than the zoom version and is almost as zoomed in as the 48mm on the Mavic 2 Zoom. About 40mm I think. Give that a comparison as well!
You might be slightly later but as all the other videos I’ve seen just spout the specs I’m happy to wait for your considered opinion on the comparison. You’re the first I’ve seen to even hint that the zoom might be more practical for actual filmmakers rather than people who are just early adopters wanting a bigger sensor just because
Levi I would love to see night shots with both of nicely lit areas, like some downtown areas. I have the Pro but really interested in how the zoom will perform while zooming in on a beautiful statue or building that is well lit. I may just have to buy a zoom as well. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you.
Good video bro. Thx. I put my Mavic Pro 1 aside for now. Got the Mavic Pro 2 with 1" sensor. Love the zoom, but if shooting in 4K you can get the dolly zoom look in post. I agree though that the zoom opens up some other very interesting shots and opportunities. Can't wait for your further thoughs after testing
I am going to buy one today what is most important to me is out of drone sharpness both in stills and video. What I think I know from other RUclipsrs is the zoom is sharper in videos and the pro is sharper in stills? what do you think today after near 3 months?
Obviously the only way to figure out which one is superior is to put them both up in the air at the same time and let them joust it out flying into each other. The one remaining in the air is the best one. :)
Hi levi ! great review - I cant fly my new ZOOM either, pretty bad weather in Melbourne at the moment - can I ask about your sound MIC setup up and where you bought it from, the sound is really good ! love you channel - gives me something to inspire to !!
Gonna be super interesting to see what you think of them. Have watched other reviews but for some reason it feels like yours will be better because of your background and interests,
Dude! I freaking love your channel. Found it this morning and have been watching a bunch all day! Total inspiration. Do you have an LUTs available? I checked your website but didn’t see any.
The zoom has always been a smart choice. For people that know cameras ....they know what they don't need...and know what they want. The pro is more marketing. The zoom is the better tool
These drones are great no doubt; however, I purchased the mavic air back in February. I am still satisfied with the air. I can't see why I would need a slightly better drone when in another 6-8 months something else will come out. When the mavic air gets an upgrade (hopefully with a zoom feature), I'll purchase a new one.
They are two totally different drones in my experience. I would never use an air on a project that I needed to trust the drone. It’s sketchy in wind, the connection to the controller is brutal, and the batteries don’t last long enough. For hobby stuff it’s fine, but when I need to get the shot, I wouldn’t be using the air
Hey Levi, Good to hear your thoughts on both. I love the GH5 LUT you made. Any chance you will match that look to the 2 Pro D-log M? I got the Mavic 2 Pro last Monday. Haven’t been able to fly much yet either due to the PNW rain.
With so much use (some would say over use) of UAV footage these days its always important to think Strategically and pivot and get a different look to what everyone else is doing - i am also boosted by the idea of shooting 50mm airborne to get that zoomed in telephoto super parallax look (which you had to have a Inspire 2 and the right lens to do until now) - but if everyone else is doing it then it wont work for me as i want my client's work to feel original. One of those techniques was doing dolly zooms from P4 pro 4k footage using digital zoom into 4k footage on a 1080p timeline - but with the new dolly zoom feature in camera it looks like that trick will now become dated. The waypoint hyperlapse looks very promising for creative timelapses through different times - going to be VERY interested to hear your take - but i suspect the zoom is the GO. (especially if - like me - you have the p4 Pro that already covers much of the Mavis 2 pros's ground)
Having had the Inspire 1 Pro, and largely attracted to the prospect of a zoom on that machine only to be disappointed by it's clunkiness....I hear you about which to buy. I love the idea of a semi-mechanical and relatively smooth zoom, but mated to the small sensor, it's hard to swallow. I think for DJI, this may have been a lost opportunity -- they could have gone to an interchangeable payload design and had a huge secondary market for the Mavic. People may point to the Inspire for this, but the whole reason that the Mavic has earned a Pro following is it's portability
Well, I've got another question. And this seemed the right place since you guys are like-minded people (at least I think). What would you get if you wanted a productivity tablet and were on a budget? See, I'm a bit in doubt whether it should be the new iPad 2018 w/ keyboard, or the MS Surface Go 4Gb. Surface's screen is less quality, but compared with a keyboard it's thinner, and I adore the stepless kickstand. The iPad is little cheaper, houses a way better screen, but I cannot find a decent flip cover and a separate magnetic detachable keyboard. Which means I will always have to carry it with 2cm+ of keyboard case around it. Oh, and for the price of the Surface + KB, I can get the iPad + KB + pencil. Plz help, I'm soooo in doubt right now. Just got a new powerfull PC, now just looking for something I can throw in my bag and use for notetaking, typing and a bit of sketching.
You look mad in the thumbnail, like you're about to throw that drone on the ground and smash it, lol! Awesome video as usual. I love the zoom myself. Dolly zoom from an aerial perspective is just absolutely incredible! Thanks for the comparison!
Hey Levi... Heres Felipe from Brazil(Qwanoes). I'm crazy to buy one of them, like you I'm with same doubts regarding witch one I should by. Unfortunately to me financially it's impossible to buy both , actualy I will need to save mony for few months to be able to buy one, anyways still not available to sell in Brazil so what can I do? I will wait! So keep posting about both so when times come your videos can help me decide wich one I should buy. Grate videos... Miss you brother... have a nice flight and chears.
Another thing, please do side by side image comparation of both (I don'd see any realy good ones in youtube yet) and whats is the real avarage fly time of them? (for sure not 31min)... Thanks
I tried commenting on the IG Live but hit Return too early and sent half a message - fail!! I thought the same... I can live with the artefacting in the fine details if I can have that compression from the longer focal length. Pleasantly surprised that it’s cheaper, too....! For once I’m not pining over the most expensive model haha!
Hi Levi. I hope this message finds you in good health & high spirits! Great Vlogging! Sweet new drones Sending positive vibes your way! PEACE LOVE & DREAMS!🇨🇦 💞🌐📷🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌄🌏💜🌍💚🌎🌅🎭🎥📹👍👍✌💖☁🎬
Levi Allen dang man, so If I don't like my current Mavic pro 1 because of the footage I should get the pro 2? Ill wait for your comparison. It'd also be helpful for u to do a dolly zoom effect on the pro 2 in post production to see how much a difference it is. Thanks man

I'm really loving the Zoom. I think I've finally made up my mind, thank you Levi!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on these drones Levi I feel so inspired to go out and create right now
Excited to see what you do with the new equipment. Oh, and congrats on 90K Levi!
Congrats on 90k man! Almost at that 100k! Keep up the epic content!

I agree, looking forward to your thoughts once you've gotten a chance to test these, Levi!

Can't wait to see the footage!

Nice video. The Hasselblad makes me happy.

Cherrs Levi, I went on the MP2 hands down... zoom is like the old with a new lens for zoom and upped bitrate
Hi levi ! great review - I cant fly my new ZOOM either, pretty bad weather in Melbourne at the moment - can I ask about your sound MIC setup up and where you bought it from, the sound is really good ! love you channel - gives me something to inspire to !!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on and preference man. Ended up going with the pro but had a seriously tough time deciding
From what I can tell I think you will be really happy. The footage grades so nicely from the pro. Definitely a superior image
I have to say my zoom produce better image than my previous Mavic Pro 1, and being able to zoom its just amazing!!! I am loving mine.
Thanks Levi! Honest thoughts there.
Gonna be super interesting to see what you think of them. Have watched other reviews but for some reason it feels like yours will be better because of your background and interests,

Looks like PolarPro has just come out with filters. Definitely a must-buy. I'm torn on these two too, Levi. Might wait and see how the dust settles.

love to get your opinion on these two new drones and how they compare to the P4P
Nice video dude I just bought the 2 pro 😁
Levi, do you have an updated opinion /video?
BTW you can buy some ND filters, just go look on their website, go to Mavic 2, and scroll down to accessories.
They just came in stock
Thanks Levi you are the man!
So, why do you fly the Mavics instead of the Phantoms? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
For the first shot did you have to film a drone... With a drone
Hey Levi, Good to hear your thoughts on both.

Two drones wow. If you keep both you are surely ballin.

You made the right choice. I got both as well, it’s the only answer.
Great thumbnail! HA! Cool video as always Levi.

iPhonedo is usually my go to reviewer. Not to mention he is hilarious. Pro for sure! Bigger sensor better quality.
You look mad in the thumbnail, like you're about to throw that drone on the ground and smash it, lol! Awesome video as usual. I love the zoom myself. Dolly zoom from an aerial perspective is just absolutely incredible! Thanks for the comparison!
Spare a thought for us guys in the UK. Ordered it before they even announced it on the keynote and its still not here!

Yesss! I was waiting for this! Now im waiting for my PRO xD
Ah! I want to have this question answered! :)
...I just need to wait for it to move on from 360p first :(
It's good to go!
Yaaaas! I was too early :)
I tried commenting on the IG Live but hit Return too early and sent half a message - fail!!

HAHA! You got my like at 0:13sec of this video. Okay now to watch the rest!
I agree...
You Don't Need 60p For Simi Slow Motion ? That is Why i Am Not Buying It i Need 60p For Music Video Slow Mo Em i Missing Something ?
I’m in the same dilemma! 🤦🏻♂️
I don’t have the budget to buy both lol
Dang it dude. I’m gonna have to go do the same thing you did. 🤣🤣🤣
I couldn’t find the stickers from your store. Any chance I can get some 😇.
Yo Levi you still running?
oh you changed your channel name
Hi Levi.

So the zoom has the same camera as the Mavic pro 1?
same sensor to my understanding
Levi Allen dang man, so If I don't like my current Mavic pro 1 because of the footage I should get the pro 2? Ill wait for your comparison. It'd also be helpful for u to do a dolly zoom effect on the pro 2 in post production to see how much a difference it is. Thanks man
From what I see though the results from the new optics on the zoom make for a superior image. I’ll have to test everything
why are you making these faces in the thumbnails
anyone got a MAVIC too? =)
