Actually guys, the first "rules" (As opposed to laws) stated by the FAA where to use common sense when flying and not do anything to deliberately put by-standers/members of the public in danger, also do let flying FPV is still actually 'against the rules. So I personally wouldn't fly my Drone over a rollercoaster that was in operation with passengers on it because if an accident was to occur, it may somehow result in multiple deaths! Or serious injury. And to me that is not a risk worth taking. I love drones and I fly mine as often as I can, but laws are in place to keep others safe and using common sense also protects you and others. I do t want to see drones being cometley banned in the future and it's a real possibility if people don't conduct themselves properly when using them.

LONG STORY short - looking for a drone? go with Mavic 2 Pro or Zoom, you have Mavic 1 already? stick with it till Mavic 3 comes up in 1-2 years with more advance features & longer flight time
You can wait even longer, say 10 years, for a much more advanced DJI drone with many more features & longer flight time.
I don't mind because my Mavic Pro is just still absolutely amaizing! :) if I crash it then I go and buy Mavic 2 Pro or Zoom. haven't decided yet :)
Agreed, although the zoom will be fantastic. Being able to observe details closely without endangering the drone is a huge step up from the digital zoom function on the Mavic Pro.

I'm going to wait for the Mavic Pro 3 with Hasselblad zoom. Seriously, at the very least they should have made these cameras interchangeable on ONE drone. Either camera with a quick interchange mount. I really could use both of these cameras on a regular basis but I'm not dropping $3k for two drones which seems to be what DJI wants us to do. Maybe I can rig a mount for a Sony RX100 camera.....

Why did they drop it down from 60 hertz to 30 Hertz makes no sense I see the shuttering to.I guess we will have to wait another two more years before they get it right at least they put the zoom in

+sam b the price should still reflect the actual price paid, and if it's way worse for the money is should just move farther left. The upper right corner is basically a unicorn that won't exist.

Yeah I’m pretty sure Casey’s plots are wrong
His graph is based by the price, which is wrong. I got the Spark and for its price i would say its quality is better, than what he rated it. Just because its cheap it does not equal to its bad. Beside i think we other normal consumers would rate the price tag of the more expensive drones different, but that comes by individual preferences.

I've been debating over which of these 3 to choose from for months now. Super helpful video. Thank you! The only thing attracting me towards the 1st generation Mavic is that I can mount an Insta360 One X to it using a legitimate attachment accessory. But then there's the Pro 2 with the 1" sensor... and then there's the 2 Zoom with zoom function for some awesome aerial dolly zooms... Really want to mount a 360 camera to a drone without having to jury rig it, but also have better quality image than the 1st gen Mavic. Even after watching this, it's hard to decide.

He said the zoom has same quality video as Mavic 1. I disagree. Zoom looked best from what I can tell, and way better then Mavic 1.
The Pro 2 is way better than the zoom since the camera has a way larger sensor. You need to watch some of the serious RUclipsrs that are 100% into camera skills etc. If Casey would record with no adjustment on at all on the cameras and then adjusted the colours, the pro 2 would look way better ( which Casey do mentioning the beginning @1:14 the dynamic range is larger = better picture=better colours . have a look at Kai on YT for example : )
Love the idea of doing aerial zolly's in-camera. It looks like the codec's having a little trouble with the smooth motion of the waves in some of the shots... but other than that it looks like a decent upgrade 👍

I film a lot on the water actually - you don't usually see that much in the way of big lurching motion artifacts in the waves unless the camera codec's bit-rate is having trouble keeping up during capture... either that or it was heavily compressed before upload.
Exactly what I was thinking. Ill have to see more footage, but it looks like the sensor cant quite keep up with horizontal pitch movement at speed while zoomed in. If its just a matter of playing with manual camera settings, then ill get the zoom. Otherwise Ill get the Mavic 2. Crazy how you can almost fly a "gh5" on something so small. Cant wait to use the new mavic in SE Asia for the winter!
I also noted the bad compression artifacts on the water waves. switching from 720p to 2160p made it a lot better. my pc monitor only has 1280x1024 pixel.
That's more likely a result of selected shutter speed not matching up cleanly with the recorded frame rate. It'd be great to know ISO and shutter speed settings for each of the samples.

It is with anything that is successful that the simplicity of it and success of an accepted product should operate straight out of the box without the need of instructions , I understand Casey’s mindset is if it is not simplistic in it inherent use of obvious display and you need to read instructions to clip a simple non functional item in place then it is obviously completely redundant.

Okay wait, am I crazy for liking the Mavic 2 Zoom better than the Pro? At 8:17 for example, it just seems a teeny bit sharper, plus you get the added zoom effect, AND the cheaper price tag. The colors of both are much improved from the Mavic 1 for sure.
Also... we're vloggers and use the Mavic 1 quite frequently, and I gotta admit, I'm not super happy with the technical side of things when it comes to the Mavic. We have connectivity issues a ton (sometimes mid-flight, which is NOT fun), plus calibration issues occasionally, and recently we've been experiencing a ton of lag between joystick movements and actual flying movements. Basically, there just seems to be a lot wrong on the tech side of things when it comes to the Mavic, and I don't see people bring those things up a lot. Or maybe we're just alone in experiencing these things. :( Have these things improved with the new drones? I honestly wouldn't consider buying a new drone until I know for sure if the issues are fewer and further in between.

This is exactly what I was thinking. To be honest I am kinda dissappointed by the quality of the pro.
Watch it on a bigger screen and you will see the difference. It will all look similar on a phone or small pc monitor. The vid quality on the pro on a large screen will crush the zoom.
This is unedited footage. The zoom is made to be more straight from the camera. I guarantee that if they showed the clips to be color graded and sharpened in post you would be jizzing your pants on how much better the Pro is.
I don't think this video will fairly compare Zoom and Pro, go to low light and pro will destroy it

You're becoming increasingly more useful Casey. We're currently getting in plenty of test runs with a cheap drone but now we're competent it's time to upgrade to the Mavic Zoom.
On the Mavic 1 you needed to adjust the exposure or balance. It was set to dark

with that my only concern that you dont know that drone how much time it crash landed what went wrong inside and 600 is to much to risk that in that case i would rather spend 999 on a new one

I paid 1100 for the Mavic Pro 1 including battery and almost cried when I found out it has a defects. 999 is not cheap at all.

is anyone else noticing the small jitter/stutter on the new mavic 2's footage? It also appears on Kai W vid aswell. The way to fix it is to use "optical flow" in premiere to make the shot smooth, however it's abit unnecissary. Great comparison Casey!

It's hard to compare smoothness from RUclips videos because the exposure setting plays a huge role for that. You want to have it around 60 for a pleasant motion blur but if it's too bright you can't do that and get a stuttery looking image. ND filters help tho
yep, not jitter its just the auto shutter speed/aperture setup is shit. can be corrected with a nd filter and slowing the shutter down to 1/50th to smooth it out.
From Kai - "Explanation about the “stuttering” with the footage: was shooting with it in Germany 4K 30P, took it back to the UK and kept using 4K 30P while I shot the talking bits on the GH5 in 25p as per and edited in a 25p timeline. Exported, uploaded, buggered off to Tokyo to look at this new Nikon full frame mirrorless; realised error, but I don’t have the project with me on portable HDD so decided to release it. Anyway, apologies for the stuttering - I can upload sample footage of just the 4K30 footage when I get back but that won’t be for at least a week!"

This chart makes absolutely no sense, when you say the zoom’s camerasystem is similar to the Mavic one but in the same time you put it over the Mavic 2 pro quality 😅 wtf ?!
I've never watched this channel, but it appears that he actually has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to image quality, etc. I'm sure they're both great drones, but he's totally wrong in his opinion of which has the better quality. Perhaps, he doesn't solely mean image quality, but an unquantifiable personal scale. Meaning that the zoom is "quality". Funny he has so many subscribers.
He had stated before that he does not rate "quality" of the drone as just the camera but zoom, portability, materials, fly time, controller, etc.
Dude is saying the zoom feature with the great quality camera give it a better overall camera quality. It makes sense.

I really enjoy watching your drone reviews. They are always very entertaining. The only thing that I would recommend is to be little more delicate and gentle with expensive electronics :) I like to baby my Mavic Pro Platinum. Other than that, keep up the good work.
