- This is a very easy method to get the legendary IWHBYD Skull On halo 2 Anniversary
Everyone is showing a 7 unique checkpoint video but that is a old theory
If this doesn't work for you then i would recommend a older video or a different technique
This technique personally worked for me when the others didn't so maybe they will work for you

Word of advice to anyone trying to get this to save you time: Reverting to last checkpoint does not de-spawn the skull as long as you still receive the final checkpoint inside of the sniper/skull room. I fell off 3 times and kept reverting just to correct my jump patterns on my final run not expecting it to spawn, and I still got the skull. Just make sure you are walking and jumping in his EXACT pattern, do not jump on a different ledge or take a different route to enter the room at the end.

Worked great! A few notes: 1) He goes up and around for the first checkpoint, I did the same. 2) When he jumps off the building onto the bridge he does a spin(360). This seems to prevent a checkpoint from appearing there. Throwing a grenade to jump also seems to prevent a checkpoint from appearing. Zooming in and shooting the jackal also seems to prevent a checkpoint from appearing. 3) After shooting the jackal above the purple crate I headed back towards the pelican a little so that the nearby fire would prevent a checkpoint. 4) I never got the second checkpoint... but the skull still popped once I was in the room. Thanks a bunch!!

Best video for this skull. I’ve watched so many other videos and tried to get the skull and eventually gave up. Just got on MCC randomly today, watched this one, and was able to get the skull first try. Thank you!

This worked for me! One thing that kept happening to me was that extra checkpoints were being hit surplus to those in the video. To get around it, if you repeatedly melee throughout the run it will prevent checkpoints being set (obviously stop meleeing when the checkpoints are supposed to be set).
Finally, if you're standing in the room and the last checkpoint isn't met, check there isn't a sniper jockey in the window adjacent to the room. Killing this sniper jockey made my skull spawn.

I did everything you did and i never got the third checkpoint you get in the video. Im doing everything the exact way you are.
GameRandomly same thing happened to me. Restart the level and do it again. 1 in 7 odds are frustrating
7 years later and this method worked for me first try. Just make sure to melee in between the checkpoints you actually need so you don't trigger one you don't need. W tutorial and screw the 7-8 checkpoint tutorials >:(
Got it first try with this, my checkpoints didn't match up at all but can confirm restarting from checkpoint does work.

Try crouching at the wall where the skull should spawn. I didn't get the checkpoint for like 50 times, but the skull popped the first time I got the checkpoint. Good luck!
also try getting to the roof of the balcony triggers there for me 100% of the time - almost never on the balcony itself

3 hours later finally got it.. couldn’t get the 3 checkpoints like you but in other videos I learned that when you melee the game registers it as you not being in a “safe” location for you to spawn at again if you die. Finally able to do it with your method and the melee knowledge hahaha.
Lots of tries yesterday to no avail. Finally got it today after a few tries, following this to a t. I went the same speed as him, with scarab, bandanna, and boom skulls. Thanks for this!

Dude I swear to god I was gonna dislike this and say this didn’t work but I gave it one last try to be sure and I found out if I didn’t shoot the gold elite that comes out the building then I got the skull , thanks bro been trying to do this for days lmao

I have tried guide after guide after guide and nothing was working I almost gave up and decided to try this guide and it didn’t work the first time but I read everyone’s comments about the checkpoints and I tried again and it finally appeared I literally cried of joy so thank you and everyone else
OMG, this took a while. Seems inconsistent across the board but it does seem to be more common when you get just 3 checkpoints with the third being in the room with the skull. Or perhaps it was just luck...
I decided to repeat this for 3 hours. It doesn't matter about 7 checkpoints or grenade jumps or despawns. You just need to get a checkpoint in or right near the hut. Simplest method is to spam melee to delay any of the consistent checkpoints like the Jackal in this vid or the one on the left Rooftop-elbow near the elites. Keep delaying until you are near the skull hut, throw a grenade or shoot the sniper jackal and jump across to hut. Stop spamming melee. Walk into hut. This is probably the easiest and non-technical route to do it. It still won't spawn everytime but I'm glad I finally understand how it works.

Hey guys! I would like to confirm for the people who say it doesn’t work. Been trying the seven checkpoint method for a couple hours to no avail, but on the first try this method worked for me. Hope this helps with any confusion :)

Try melee attacks during the grenade jump portion to prevent a checkpoint on the bridge

this guide still works for mcc. only took me two tries, you stop a checkpoints from spawning if you meele, I also got an extra checkpoint near the purple box and still got the skull

April 8, 2019, this method worked on my first try, compared to other RUclips guides. I also was sniped and respawned to last check Point. The skull still spawned.

If anyone's still trying to do this, I got it on PC in 2021 and it works. Don't worry if you don't have the same checkpoints than in the video, mine were all over the place and still got it
You really need to do exactly what he does and you need those skulls on and you will get it! Took me about twenty attempts of this method.

Can confirm this still works as of 6/02/2022 takes a few tries just do exactly what he does and you will get it before you know it
thanks yo! got it on the first try! well i fell down at about 1:42 cause i kept an eye on that jackal. but restarted checkpoint and went thru and skull was there! spawned in that elite wave, i died on the 2nd elite cause scarab blast killed me xD but i got it! that's the last one i needed for throne of bones achievement. thanks for the walkthru

I spent several hours trying to get this skull, if you pick up the sniper it likely will trigger and give you the skull. Unlike other methods, this method worked first try

Hey i just did it!!!! After a lot of methods, this one work after 10 times ( in my case) and i got it with the last checkpoint reload because i died by a jackal who shot me, BIG THANKS!!

Got it on my 4th attempt and popped the achievement on PC's MCC in 2020. But I died and I'm having a hard time getting it again lol
Anyway this method is still just as accurate and the chances are still just as random. Also, trying 7 times in a row doesn't mean it'll work on the 7th try; each instance has a 1/7 chance and doesn't go up or down on each successive attempt.

died before the achievement popped after grabbing it so I assumed I never got it. did it for another 45 minutes without realizing I did earn it, the achievement just never popped up on steam or my phone
Dying or restarting a checkpoint does not ruin your chances, died twice and still the skull spawned!
