You don't even have to turn off your Xbox to get the blind skull out of the trigger zone. Just pick up the skull and quickly back out and immediately press the shoot button to drop the skull so that the skull will drop outside of the trigger zone. The effect won't take place until the skull is held for a second so that's why this works I used to do this as a kid so that I can beat the covies with the skull without having blind. On the side note; because of this exploit, can you pick up the blind skull and hold it all the way to the IWHBYD trigger zone?
Ah nice. I knew there was a small grace period in the script before the fight started, but I didn’t think it would last long enough. Good to know. As for your inquiry, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work if the exploit shown in the vid also works.
@@TheVengefulVadam just tried it, bringing blind skull to the IWHBYD trigger zone in the first BSP worked (once the 1 in 7 has successfully rolled). I couldn't be quick enough to drop the IWHBYD skull out of its own trigger zone so maybe it's only the blind skull that has the delay
Hey pal, finally, an all encompassing daddy skull vid. Beautifully done and thanks for the shoutout! I knew when the delay worked that I had it but I didn't know what 'it' was until just now after watching so thanks. I don't know if you take suggestions on what to dissect, but I have two doozies. One is on Outskirts, I made a vid of grabbing the Scarab gun from inside the tunnel in single player. That trick almost broke me and that's no joke, I took myself too far. Anyway, the way you can display overlapping maps has me excited. While doing the trick I experienced (map madness) things that I've never experienced before while on the tunnel water map and at the same time on the inside of the tunnel map. I remember all those converging planes like it was yesterday. I think you would get a kick out of that map area. Another is the beloved Space Hole on Great Journey. You probably already know but the Space Hole is actually two boxes, a skybox and a projection box. The projection box has Monopoli's DaVinci egg hanging inside it. Harc launched up to it and then I took a difficult rout and aimed an AUPed turret with a swordfly ready Arbiter and simply flew over and landed on the egg. I have others but if I could make a wish to be able to see those maps like you do I can croak happy. This vid was the best modded instructional vid I've ever seen.
Very glad you enjoyed it! I actually didn’t know about Space Hole until watching your tutorial vid just now. Very interesting trick! As for the Scarab trick, yeah that one is a doozy. Might take a look at both of these :)
@@TheVengefulVadam On the OS maps, none of the planes for the tunnel, from one map, were parallel nor plumb nor level nor the same height as the other map. It also seemed to be in a different scale, when I moved the Pelican 3' in the water, I would go down and find it had moved 10' in the tunnel. I don't know if it's a scale thing or the Pelican sort of jumps when the tunnel map is loaded. Lots of questions there. Also, Dantheman87 discovered that the gun was also getable from inside the tunnel, that set me on my path. ruclips.net/video/F1FRu6h0LSo/видео.html Princeofthesword first discovered the Space Hole but had no way to record it but Dantheman87 swordflew in there for him, maybe 2005 or so for the first documentation vid. The knowledge we gained leveled out until Monopoli uncovered the DaVinci egg. The funny thing was that through the years I kept hitting walls that shouldn't be there and I even did a corner ride by pure accident and that told us there was a second box. Then Monopoli said there were two boxes all along, one being the GJ Skybox for the explosions and such and a smaller box within the Skybox which does the game ending projections and the egg. It's considered impossible to get into the second box in single player, maybe you can find an opening. You are going to love the Space Hole.
This was very informative. On a completely different note, I was rewatching your Halo 2 Uncut Series, and I had an idea for the Juggernaut. Instead of having just a normal death animation, maybe when it dies, it stands still like how it did originally when it died. Then, after a few seconds, it starts shaking uncontrollably until exploding like a Carrier Form, sending a Crap TON of Infection Forms all around. I don't know if you can do that, but it would be a cool possibility.
this is not possible. the shaking requires an animation. since the juggernaut has different bones, it'd be impossible to retarget the animation. the most you can do without packaging a custom animation is a base move/scale/rotate of the biped, and then emit particles and spawn flood forms. unless you mean meme vibrating in place... that's doable.
I was thinking something similar but different. Since the Juggernaut is a weaponized protogravemind, it should apply the effects of "That's Just Wrong" for all flood in the area until it's dead.
Man, watching a video on performing a really difficult trick in halo 2 takes me back. As a kid I would run between our white macbook and the downstairs TV to try tricks, and once even accomplished the RIDICULOUSLY hard grenade physics object jump to get the Scarab gun.
Save the skull in a permanently preloaded state. Start level, run across rooftops, trigger Sniper Alley, wait for checkpoint, save and quit. Now, run to room, if the skull isn't there, restart level and repeat the process until skull has loaded. Once the skull has loaded, you can turn Xbox off (don't save and quit!) and the skull will be there forever. You can now leave the skull alone, go anywhere in the level (even save game) and when you return to the room, it will load every time. Real shame we can't use the infinite checkpoints glitch for the 'Daddy' fight but I'm afraid they get cancelled upon entering the fight. Awesome vid, love a very informative Daddy skull vid, well done!
@@TheVengefulVadam Thanks for the support! I don't use mods or data mine, just watch Halo community vids while doing loads of boring experiments. Loved this video. Remember seeing videos of the IWHBYD skull back in the day... And I remember thinking... Trigger 7 checkpoints (but sometimes it doesn't work) then fight all those elites on legendary? Yeah I'm not trying that! So interesting to see how it all worked. I wasn't even aware of the RNG script! And I was shocked to see that trick to obtain the skull with that small map trigger. Thank you for this video. Took me back to the golden era!
Excellent video as always! I've been putting off this challenge for years... Looks like now might be the time. I always enjoy your breakdowns of the mission scripts, love your work! Super quick suggestion: I think you should change the chapter titles so that "I would have been your daddy..." covers the main breakdown of how to obtain the skull the 'intended' way, then make a new chapter for the BSP exploit titled "... But the dog beat me over the fence" ;)
This reminds me of the legendary half "A" press mario video where it just gets more and more convoluted with glitches, but it's all actually legit. Great video!
I made a profile with a checkpoint in the skull room. I went to where a checkpoint would be, threw a plasma grenade up and far away, and jumped into the room. I have a checkpoint where chief is crouched in front of every skull (or as close as possible in the case of the elevator skull).
I remember watching a walkthrough of getting the IWHBYD skull as a teenager years ago. By applying the knowledge i had, i was able to trigger the waves of Elite Ultras and mann was it the fight of my life. 😅
We got lucky when I did this with my brother and somehow got a checkpoint halfway through the firefight. This made getting the skull again a lot easier each time. Also, we loaded the rooms with the firefight zone with weapons and barricaded the side room before so it was easier to complete. And by "we" I mean we swapped controls each time we died, still solo technically.
So, to talk about this video-I knew, even all the way back then when I was a kid, that the Daddy skull was never 100% guaranteed to spawn. I _also_ knew that the 7 checkpoints thing was a myth; especially from experience. However, I _didn't_ know that you specifically had to walk forward on the roof and spawn Sniper Alley. That means a good 90% of my runs were for nothing. 😂 And I *_DEFINITELY_* didn't know about the Blind Skull switcheroo trick. Not only is that *_absolutely brilliant,_* but it makes total sense! I'm genuinely gonna fish my 360 out and try that method myself. I learned so much more about the Daddy skull than I imagined, and I can't help but appreciate this video. Also, I can't help but shake my head that Bungie's actual official game script has notes like "here is the horrible part" and "do it. do it now." Clear indicators of how psycho sick Bungie was when making this mess. 😏
Genius video idea. I remember scouring countless hours on Halo RUclips back in 07-11. A good chunk of them were Microsoft word tutorials on skull locations… nostalgia. Good times
In 2014 I decided a month before the launch of MCC to recheck RUclips for a 100% confirmed way to get the skull. So I look it up on RUclips and BAM the exact method where you wait on the rooftop and melee until you get there, and respawn until it does shows up. No one else had posted that before. So I try on the 360 version of Halo 2, and I was immediately reminded about the fog glitch when you don't play it on original Xbox. I push through it on 360 and first try, it spawns. That's the 2nd time in my history of playing Halo 2 in (almost) 10 years that it happened. A month later MCC drops and the first thing I do is check it again on that, IT WORKS FIRST TRY. 2 weeks after launch there are 20 new videos by just starting RUclipsrs who show the same method of getting the skull. I am overjoyed that this is becoming easily accessible information. Several years later I decided for fun to try it again, I forgot the process. I look it up. All the videos and the original I first saw are GONE. instead it's about 30 videos of people showing how to get the skull, but it's just activating them in the menu. Now here I am 8 years later since that discovery blessed by this RUclips vid. Thank God I follow you on discord or I would have missed this arcane knowledge of the forerunners
Man that’s something else. You have to play it on Legendary, go to a specific spot, hope you got lucky or else restart, then beat a gauntlet of Ultra Elites
Good video and breakdown of it all! When I found that beach rooftop trigger overlap I never knew how much of it actually stuck out, very cool to see it. I could tell from the MCC graphics overlap that the potential to hit that trigger might be there, and it was awesome when it actually happened. Lot's of fun experiments with the "depsawned" invisible player stuck there too. Good memories, has that been 8 or so years? Geez.

@@umairashraf5167 Dude... I really do appreciate the question but that's something I could go on about for hours 😂 and have done before! I guess if I was to narrow my thoughts down to a single sentence: "you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain". That's my hot-take on Halo right now
If you do want a checkpoint standing right at the skull for the fight, you can absolutely do that. It just can't be the same checkpoint that the game creates when the skull spawns right in front of you. That one is a trick checkpoint that is voided and doesn't really exist. Skip the first courtyard via the roof and make sure the phantom doesn't spawn. Load the skull and backtrack on the roof and hit the trigger in the courtyard from above, when you see the phantom fly over go back and stand at the skull. The game has a series of checkpoints while stuff is happening in the courtyard, just let the game soak for maybe 10-20 minutes so all those CP's hit and you are good to go. This avoids getting them during the fight, unless you want that for some reason.
This is really cool man, I know a lot of glitches for Outskirts but I never knew any of this. What an awesome video and thank you for teaching me something new about my favorite Halo mission!
Thanks for the amazing video! I remember looking up the method of getting this skull a few years ago, and I was appaled at the misinformation and fake methods still going strong back then. I was lucky to find SLOBSKY's "Mythbusting" video of this skull (which references Grumpy's method as well) which contained all the info needed. Your video allows for an even deeper understanding and, most interestingly, the method to get the effect without going through the alley fight with the elites. Dope!
Is so funny how back in the day the skulls, the recon amor and the chupacabras was so mistirus things that seeing like mistical un nature, but now are so clear since You can't lie if You see the code direcly
First off I just wanna say thank you so much for making this video if you didn't idk if I ever would've been able to get the skull since the usual channel I use for the skull locations just said 7 checkpoints are required but, I now learned that's not the case and after several attempts of triggering sniper alley, and going to the room it's supposed to be in it finally spawned. Really glad I found this video it was really interesting!
Haha. Yep, I figured that out due to the MCC visual overlaps that the trigger could be hit from the beach roof. It looked close and I wasn't sure, but when it happened I was in shock. Fun discovery for sure.
Years ago I picked up the skull without a clue it'd be there. I stood there blankly after the teleport, wondered what happened, and got beamed in the head by a leftover Jackal. I was even more perplexed when I returned to the room on future runs and never saw the skull again. This was incredibly funny of the mission designers.
I’m working on the Chinese edition of MCC and going for this skull. Came across this video. Thank you for the vid. Taught me something new I never would have know about halo 2
Tried this method on mcc pc, it worked the first time and i got the achievement even after being killed by the elite, then since the achievement notification didn't pop up, i tried to get the skull again for another 30 mins like a dumbass, and only noticed the achievement cause the game crashed and i was about to launch it again.
I hope we can see Heretic Hunt at the upcoming showcase! I'm glad the VKMT is carrying the torch forward with halo modding showcases. I miss the old CE3 days; been binging the livestreams recently.
I remember everyone saying you had to get to the skull within 3 minutes with at least 3 checkpoints in the level or something like that, it always seemed to work, even if it’s not garuenteed

I used to have a save in the OG xbox for every skull, i even had one for the IWHBYD one, where i stock piled weapons inside the room with alot of gass thanks and then cover the doors with covenant suply cases this will allow me to kill elites with out them even seen me or shot back at me, and i figure this out by myself when i was like 10 years old, no youtube, no guides, no reddit, it was crazy, back in the day this was like a myth or an urban legend or something, nobody really new how to get it, how to trigger it, the only thing out ther was a crappy video showing 7 different check points needed to spawn the thing wich it doesnt work consistently beacause all you need is that 1 out of 7 chance.
Yep same here once you block the doorways it actually becomes manageable. On a side note this is such an awesome easter egg like the Scarab Gun and it's crazy how we used to figure shit out like this back then
Lol my fave strategy is bring johnson to the arena, get like 5 or so warthog from the beach and drive them back into the arena. You'd have like 15 + marines shredding the elites as they come out XD
@@halinaqi2194 is that possible? now I have to try this, any advice????
@@Thegeobot you are best off equipping everyone with battle rifles and sniper rifles, smgs are pretty bad. You can also try giving them alot of needles spam, but outskirts doesn't have many of those floating around.
Have fun with it, you can very easily clear it with just johnson there since he draws a lot of aggro, but having multiple warthog is just a joy to watch
I find your voice so relaxing. I really love your content.
Love hearing this from people, thank you ^^
@@TheVengefulVadam I’m just being honest 😊
This is so amazing to learn honestly. Props for explaining it in such an easy to pick up manor for smooth brains such as myself
As a fellow smooth brain, it’s my mission to make these types of videos as ELI5 as possible lmao
Unrelated but I finally heard the “I would have been your daddy but the dog beat me over the fence” line in my recent playthrough of CE after playing the game for most of my life
>using BSP trickery to get the skull
In an alternative universe where John Romero didn't insist on having verticle stairs on DOOM, John Carmack didn't dig up an obscure white paper conceptualising the BSP, making the technology unavailable for future video games (or at least significantly delayed) rendering this trick impossible
Halo 2 Legendary Jackal Sniper vs Halo 2 Legendary Beam Rifle Guy
You don't even have to turn off your Xbox to get the blind skull out of the trigger zone. Just pick up the skull and quickly back out and immediately press the shoot button to drop the skull so that the skull will drop outside of the trigger zone. The effect won't take place until the skull is held for a second so that's why this works
I used to do this as a kid so that I can beat the covies with the skull without having blind.
Also, Dantheman87 discovered that the gun was also getable from inside the tunnel, that set me on my path. ruclips.net/video/F1FRu6h0LSo/видео.html
Princeofthesword first discovered the Space Hole but had no way to record it but Dantheman87 swordflew in there for him, maybe 2005 or so for the first documentation vid.
This skull was hell to unlock, thanks for clearing up my many mistakes
@@natayaway can a man just dream, please?
I was thinking something similar but different. Since the Juggernaut is a weaponized protogravemind, it should apply the effects of "That's Just Wrong" for all flood in the area until it's dead.
@@natayawaypast me would like to apologize for not fully reading your comment. But yes, I was kinda thinking meme vibrating.
This made no fucking sense and I love it
Man, watching a video on performing a really difficult trick in halo 2 takes me back. As a kid I would run between our white macbook and the downstairs TV to try tricks, and once even accomplished the RIDICULOUSLY hard grenade physics object jump to get the Scarab gun.
damn that unlocked a core memory for me.. forgot that we had to run between the computer and the console lol
I can just imagine the game giving you a death glare as you pull the BSP exploit before sighing in frustration
Thank you! Huge fan of your content!
@@TheVengefulVadam Thanks for the support! I don't use mods or data mine, just watch Halo community vids while doing loads of boring experiments. Would be cool if any of the code readers could help understand the ICPs glitch as it's possibly linked/confused with the Daddy fight? Also, good shout-out to Grumpy in your vid.
Love this gotta love these small topic videos
I remember getting the skull during H2s prime, and never got past those elites.
On 60fps it's actually really hard compared to back then your lucky you got it at 30fps and no additional tick rate.
(needler gang)
love the lip sync. and pretty good overview about the skull.
I was expecting a breakdown of all of the hidden dialogue but instead I got this, and this was much cooler.
Halo 2 has to have the most interesting engine/exploits in gaming history
0:13 “See ya, chump”
I made a profile with a checkpoint in the skull room. I went to where a checkpoint would be, threw a plasma grenade up and far away, and jumped into the room. I have a checkpoint where chief is crouched in front of every skull (or as close as possible in the case of the elevator skull).
Man idk how but I have been finding some cool RUclips channels. You're one of the coolest so far
I didn't even know about the elite gauntlet
Of all my years of playing halo 2. Ive never seen such in depth video on 1 skull, and more so on IWHBYD. Keep up the good work .
this is such a well made video
I remember watching a walkthrough of getting the IWHBYD skull as a teenager years ago. By applying the knowledge i had, i was able to trigger the waves of Elite Ultras and mann was it the fight of my life. 😅
Your sign off was unexpected but so welcome
Ill be honest, I used to play halo 2 constantly (i was 8 tbf) but I Never knew how much depth halo 2 had. awesome video
Genius video idea. I remember scouring countless hours on Halo RUclips back in 07-11. A good chunk of them were Microsoft word tutorials on skull locations… nostalgia. Good times
This might just be me but personally I would have preferred to fight the elites
Same. They’re actually really fun to fight when you have a strategy for them.
You don't upload videos so often, but each time you do it, are really quality ones.
I spit my drink out all over my car when you propelled yourself through the air with a phat fart at the start of the video😂
i love the intro and use of the elite skin
6479 days after release, a comprehensive video on how to get this skull is posted. I love this community.
This is absolutely bananas, man. Just when I thought we couldn't learn any more about this game.
Geez.
Got the lip sync elite and the machinima vibes take me back subbed
This stuff is incredibly interesting. I consider myself a very well versed Halo fan, from story, to games, to music, but you just keep blowing me away. Super humbled but love having more to learn about my favourite thing.
Hi,I just wanted to ask, what are your thoughts on halo infinite and the future of halo?
@@umairashraf5167 Dude... I really do appreciate the question but that's something I could go on about for hours 😂 and have done before!
I guess if I was to narrow my thoughts down to a single sentence: "you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain". That's my hot-take on Halo right now
@@voodoodolll I'm all ears ☺️ I'd be happy to know your thoughts, hot nothing better to do anyway
I was lucky to find
SLOBSKY's "Mythbusting" video of this skull (which references Grumpy's method as well) which contained all the info needed.
Your video allows for an even deeper understanding and, most interestingly, the method to get the effect without going through the alley fight with the elites. Dope!
Thats cool how you showed the code triggers and zones. Thanks. Helped me get the skull easier
Is so funny how back in the day the skulls, the recon amor and the chupacabras was so mistirus things that seeing like mistical un nature, but now are so clear since You can't lie if You see the code direcly
Really insightful and interesting video even though I’ve finished the MCC achievements 😁
Is this how it works in MCC?
@@SonicHedgehog34 Probably not but cool to see regardless
First off I just wanna say thank you so much for making this video if you didn't idk if I ever would've been able to get the skull since the usual channel I use for the skull locations just said 7 checkpoints are required but, I now learned that's not the case and after several attempts of triggering sniper alley, and going to the room it's supposed to be in it finally spawned. Really glad I found this video it was really interesting!
dude this is FASCINATING
Now I see... DrBizz video make sense now
Haha. Yep, I figured that out due to the MCC visual overlaps that the trigger could be hit from the beach roof. It looked close and I wasn't sure, but when it happened I was in shock. Fun discovery for sure.
was that a clip of Halo ODST Zombies at 1:30? Pog
seeing all this fiddling with OG halo 2 takes me back. hope bungie found ling ling eventually
I've never been so thankful as when I got the IWHBYD Skull achievement to pop on MCC without having to fight the elites.
I finally got this skull with the arachnophobia skull it’s only took me 9 years 😂😂
Really really cool breakdown of the shenanigans going on in the coding of this. Excellent as always man
Bruh that’s about the most tedious thing I’ve ever seen in my life 😂 mad props to you and anyone with the patience to do all that fr
That is awesome. I can't even wrap my mind around how people find this stuff. Thank you!
I’m working on the Chinese edition of MCC and going for this skull. Came across this video. Thank you for the vid. Taught me something new I never would have know about halo 2
8:45 you knew exactly what you were doing you monster.
Tried this method on mcc pc, it worked the first time and i got the achievement even after being killed by the elite, then since the achievement notification didn't pop up, i tried to get the skull again for another 30 mins like a dumbass, and only noticed the achievement cause the game crashed and i was about to launch it again.
Now I wanna see a mod where all sniper jackals are replaced with beam rifle guy.
I never knew that the full quote is "I would've been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence"
*me who literally got the skull literally 1 hour before this video came out
I hope we can see Heretic Hunt at the upcoming showcase! I'm glad the VKMT is carrying the torch forward with halo modding showcases. I miss the old CE3 days; been binging the livestreams recently.
"high enough scariness value" my new fave quote on youtube
I remember everyone saying you had to get to the skull within 3 minutes with at least 3 checkpoints in the level or something like that, it always seemed to work, even if it’s not garuenteed
Nice dude! Crazy history behind this skull!
My brother in christ I did not just watch you exchange a ray gun for a SPRINGFIELD.
LOL
I love this type of video. You’re like decino from the doom community but the halo version. Respectfully
9:05 This makes me feel ANGRY in a way only RNG can.
I really do appreciate you also explaining what's going on
I never understood exactly how this worked (both the base RNG of getting the skull and the exploits surrounding it) so this was a fantastic peer back behind the curtain on a ridiculous game secret of my youth.
Sick stuff.
