Black-eyed susan was hardest ...mine turned a little "Van Gogh-y" not in a good way - and maybe have dipped paint brush into red wine?! BUT, loved loved loved doing this. Wish we could post / share our work? maybe not? Thank you, Jenna. You are brilliant!
Wow! awesome Bachelor Button, beautiful design & Colour. Never heard of them before, nice that you painted a flower. Overall your whole flower pieces are beautiful and very spring feeling. Are there any other flowers you've never painted for us with unique names? Hint! Of course, I'm looking forward to your Easter drawings. Appreciate your dedication to your views to keep us feeling good. I enjoy your videos and quirky sense of humor, you're like a breath of fresh air. Remember take time out with your family.
Thanks for your feedback and encouragement, Joan! I appreciate you. I have done a parrot tulip! That’s a bit different... also, you referenced the Easter - did you see I posted a Easter tutorial last week? Maybe you did and you’re waiting to work on it, haha, sorry if I misunderstood. Have a lovely weekend! ❤️
@@JennaRaineyChannel Thank you for the very nice reply. I don't often comment with words, usually Emoji, 😊💌 haven't missed any tutorials, I usually go back and rewatch and try out new learning technics or get inspired by you and John is funny😎 P.S. My parrot tulips came no were close to your painting of them, mine flopped but in a funny way. They are still in my artbook. Supper weekend you all, from snowy Parry Sound, Ontario Canada ☃⛄
I loved the pink/purple flower! Beautiful. A tutorial I would love to see would be Joshua tree! I would love to see how you would go about painting one of those trees in the desert
I just love the sound effects when you were painting the stalk flower, it just adds a little fun and character to the video and I am superrrr keen to try some of these flowers!!
So I have a suggestion for a future video, I would love it if you did another 10 different flowers video either with different flowers or after watching most of your flower videos I see that you have multiple ways of painting the same flower so maybe the same 10 flowers but a different way, I’ve watched that video so many times, probably one of my favorite loose floral videos on RUclips because you are one of the few that gives an explanation of how you are holding your brush which is invaluable. Thank you!
These were fun! My challenge was the reddish pink flowers that grow up sort of like a hollyhock. Sorry don't know the name ha! My favorite was the button de bachelor. Thanks so much!!
Really beautiful. I love your interpretations of cone flowers and black-eye Susans as well as the others! I think your color placements are so lovely. Thanks also for the timings for quick reference. Very helpful. 💜🙏🏻
Another fabulous tutorial. Love it. Thanks so much. It has been such a long time since I made the time to paint. Yours were the tutorials I went to to restart.🙂
Thanks Carol, for the info about the cornflower, I have never heard of it being called Batchelor Button before. (I’m a retired florist and thought I knew my flower names). Also here in Australia I’ve not considered stocks to be wildflowers, but then our wildflowers are quite different to the North American ones. Now there’s a challenge, paint some Australian Wildflowers, they are beautiful.
The stalk flower was my favorite, but honestly, all of them are my favorites and especially the cone flower and the black eyed susans. The Bachelor Buttons are really pretty too. I just love the colors you use for them. I would love to see how you would do a pasture of a mix of these flowers if you have ever done that before.
This was my first Jenna Rainey video and, I am hooked ie: subscribed, notification bell clicked, following you on IG and Pinterest and I am totally looking forward to power-watching all of the watercolour videos you have! I am absolutely inspired, even though I am a beginner. After all, one must have something to aspire to and, OMG, you are a brilliant artist and instructor. Thank you so very much ❤️
Didi. I LOVE your energy. Thank you so much for all the support, you're so kind! I love hearing your passion, so fun! I hope my videos continue to inspire and teach you. Keep power watching and I'll keep making more videos for you. ❤️ ❤️
Awww welcome to the watercolour family 🤗 🎨 Loads of tutorials to keep you busy, especially the Jenna Rainey art school series of videos from last year’s lockdown
i loved this video - im struggling with doing flower compositions - and figuring out which kinds of flowers go where - it would be great to get a wildflower floral composition! and as always thank you for posting!
I just painted this with you for practice and funzie! I'm still learning to work with watercolor and I'm definitely a copycat artist, gotta see someone else do it first. Im well pleased with the outcome, certainly not as beautiful as your, but a job well done. I tend to make thing harder than they should be aka perfectionist problems. But it looks pretty good. Thanks for doing such a great job explaining and demonstrating I very much enjoyed painting with you even through it took me much much longer than the 20 minute video...lots of pause and backup. I will be checking out some more of your paintings in the future!!
I think they are all beautiful the biggest challenge was the flowers with the small pedals because at first it looks like a big mess until its finished. I have a hard time picturing the end result. Thanks again!
Thank you Jenna. I’m gonna give this tutorial a try. I loved the black eyed Susan in your video. I can’t wait to try it out. I struggle with perspective when I paint florals. If you could do a video on perspective in a floral composition & a wreath, it would be really helpful. I’ve followed your book Everyday Watercolor. It was really helpful and I learned a lot from it. Hopefully I can try Everyday Flowers soon. 😊 Thanks a ton!
Jenna, You have taught me so much in my first two months of attempting watercolor painting. I love painting and am sorry it took me so long to realize I might be able to do this. I have always loved and collected art pieces of of others. I am 82 years old and painting daily I have seen progress but am never totally pleased with my work. I can see qualities I like and mistakes I have made. I want to ask if you could possibly list your colors and mixes at the very beginning of the video so that I am ready to paint along with you? I plan to become a Patreon!
I love that echinacea flower 🌸 it’s in your book in realism style 📚 so nice to see the loose floral style too Do you have a Wikipedia of flowers stored in your brain? You really can paint just about any flower from memories 😃 🧠
Hi Jenna, absolutely love your tutorials. Definitely going to get your book. How do you get perspective on drawing?. Drawing from different angles n views. Thanks a mil. Una Hogan. 💕🇮🇪
Love the Coneflower. Do you use pictures of the flowers as your inspiration? I know you've been doing this for a long time but I'm so amazed at how the flowers come together.
Thanks Charlene! I don’t usually use pictures for references, but I did search wildflowers for this video to get some inspo in which flowers to paint. But to be honest, I didn’t follow the picture, only got an image in my mind and just worked off that. It comes with a lot of practice, but if looking at references helps you, totally go for it!!
Love your tutorials! Love all things floral. Would love more help with composition and with painting things that point left..I am right handed and can't get comfortable with utilizing the space on the left of my focus.
Oh good feedback, Catharyn! I do have a floral composition video (to help with placements), you can find that in my floral video playlist on my channel homepage.
Just bought both your books. Hoping with tons of practice I can learn this skill. I have watched a number of your videos but find the tulip leaves ridiculously hard to do. Not sure why or what I am doing wrong. Perhaps not enough paint on my brush?
Aw thanks so much for the support, I truly appreciate you. I hope you love the books and I am confident if you keep up the practice you can totally get the skills you're looking for. The folded leaves are tricky, it could be amount of paint/water mix you have on your brush -- and honestly, that just comes with practice (as annoying as that may be to hear).
Hey Jaime! I'm so happy to hear you're loving the videos! And sorry about that link, bummer! I just tested it out on my end and it took me straight to the paper. Is this the link you used: amzn.to/2GDaYH9 -- if it is and it's not working, it may be something to do with your web browser (like cookies, cache, pop-up blocker or something like that). Hope that helps!
Hey Ann. We intentionally have the overhead shot to include the palette so people can see the color mixing process, and hope the close-ups (while painting) give you a good picture of what the flowers look like. Also, we do a fuller shot towards the end of all the completed flowers at 19:54.
I hear ya. They can be challenging, I know. It may look easy when I do it, but that’s only because of years of practice. I honestly believe you can do this, it just takes patience (which I know can be annoying to hear). Don’t forget to enjoy the process and take every painting you do as a learning experience! If you haven’t seen my 5 reasons my art went from bad to good (recent video), that may give you some much needed encouragement!
