    Very informative. As a former long-haul trucker here in the USA, we USED to have paper logs; our booklets were about the same width, but only half the height, and were bound on the left end. About 10 years ago, the industry switched over to electronic logs, so now all the 'tricks' drivers used to be able to use don't work anymore; things like keeping a second log book which didn't cover as much driving time (difficult, but fairly common), or in my case as a driver who crossed the US/Canada daily, keeping close attention to the differences of hours-of-service laws in each country, and choosing which border crossing to take in order to maximize my driving.
    The last driving job I had was a summer job hauling full trailers of bagged ice regionally around my city. Some days I'd only go as far as the next city to the west (Buffalo, 60 miles away) or Syracuse (90 miles to the east), which were less than 100 miles away, so I did not need to keep a log. however, some days I'd end up taking a load to Utica (120 miles to the east), or Corning (120 miles south), for which I'd have to grab my log book, and start a day's worth of info from the beginning.
    Frankly, it took a few years, but today drivers here in North America are finally being paid for the actual hours worked, rather than some vague minimum which log books require you to include...

      Got my hr license august 2019 and still yet to turn a wheel so i handed my logbook back empty and went back to sitting at home ive tried to get work driving trucks but everyone wants 5yrs experience no one wants to give someone a go with no experience and insurance companies have their head up their arse well good luck to them cause when the older drivers retire and no ones come thru the ranks due to all the bullshit maybe the transport industry will wake up to itself and pull its head out of its ass but hey cause i dont drive trucks due to not being able to get a start due to no experience thats not my problem

    Hi mate, better information than nhvr gives haha
    Would you be able to do a video explaining all the rest breaks you need when running a bfm for a fortnight, I’m about to start running Melbourne-Brisbane’s 1 and a half a week and work diary doesn’t explain it very well cheers

    • @GdayitsPete
      @GdayitsPete  3 года назад

      Depending on what you’re carrying, depot to depot or pick up/delivery, every day is going to be slightly different. Use the basic principles in this video to get you through. No more than 84 hours in the first week and 60 in the second. The 144 hours for the fortnight is a rolling 144, it can’t be reset. If you’re only away for 10 days, you probably won’t get up on the 144 but you will need a 24 hour break around day 6 or 7.
      Hope this helps, be safe.

      @@GdayitsPete yeah most of the work from what I know is going to be depot to depot.
      Yes that definitely helped me a lot more than the nhvr give you these days, all they tell you is to read the book, but their book hardly tells you anything and is confusing as you’d no.
      Thank you so much for taking your time to reply with that I appreciate it a lot, 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
